Review Sophia's Kitchen - Peterborough

This is definitely one of the best (probably the best) poutins I've ever tried. Sophia was super kind and she even put a little compliment with the order. I think I'm ready to make another 150 km trip from Toronto just to eat this gorgeous poutine one more time. ❤

Really did not enjoy the food we had, and I don't imagine we will go back. Portions were small for the price (especially the "entree" salad at $10 for less salad than came in the souvlaki dinner; the poutine was really just fries with gravy and a bit of shredded cheese (if there's no curd, it's not poutine); and the onion ring breading was fluffy and made them more like onion doughnuts than crispy rings. Everything we ordered was just a little "off" in terms of flavour or reality vs expectations. The tzatziki was overly lemony and had very little garlic, the souvlaki was surprisingly flavourless despite the amount of herbs on it, the Greek salad dressing also flavourless, and the lettuce was not chopped basically at all (below is a picture of one piece of lettuce from my "salad", with a dip container to show size). Pretty underwhelming food for a place that sets the bar high based on customer reviews. We called, placed our order, and brought the food home, so maybe the friendliness of the staff makes the food better (if you eat in the restaurant?) 🤷🤷🤷

Honestly, this is the kind of experience I would expect walking into a high class restaurant in Toronto. It is under 10$ for pretty well everything on the menu, and the portions are GREAT, the customer service is FANTASTIC and the owner is LOVELY. I am SO impressed and I would recommend this place to EVERYONE.

The owner Pat is probably the nicest person you'll meet in your life and the food is awesome. I've had several items from the menu and everything I've had has been delicious. Do yourself a favour and try it out, it's located in a place you may not often thing to go when you want to get food, but its worth going out of you way for.

Love the souvlaki!!!! Been craving to go back all week. However I do feel the food is too good to be served cafeteria style. Other then that it's a great place to stop in for some great food and friendly service. Would highly recommend and will be back.

Sophia’s food is absolutely amazing! And she is such a wonderful and sweet person too. We stopped to order some quick bite on our way out of Peterborough and we were not disappointed. Sophia’s poutine is the best!

Definitely love Sophia's kitchen. It's a great place to eat. Just as good as a home cooked meal. It don't taste like most places were the food is full of grease and ect. Also perfect costumer serves. I can see this going to be a long lasting place for many years to come. My opinion can't find 1 thing to complain about and I'm a very judgmental person when it comes to my food. Just ask my wife most places we go I'm always complaining. This is the only place in Peterborough I can go to and feel like everything is perfect. Good job to everyone and Sophias kitchen. Keep up the good work and may the future bring you many years and greatness to come.

Today was my first time going to this restaurant and I can say enough of how great this place was. Been to a lot of different smaller restaurants, in and around Peterborough, and this may be the best place I've ever eaten at. Went in not expecting much but once going in and right away being greeted at the door with a smile and a hello. My husband and I brought our 10 month old daughter and right away she was complimented and offered a free ice cream. If you have a small child, you know how hard it is to find a place that is child friendly! I ordered the pountine, which was perfectly cooked ( crispy fries) and cheese melted very well. My husband ordered the "Hail Mary" which was 4 meat paddies with melted cheese, everywhere we go he gets a burger, he has had a variety of burgers, and this made his top 5 easy. And last but no least, the Old Fashion milkshake was a very nice treat to end everything off � Astonishing restaurant and outstanding staff.�

WOW! What a great family owned spot. Just felt like a piece of home. The food was great, prices were awesome and the staff/owner were absolute gems. Making sure my family was completely taken care of and my kids even got a special treat. It’s been a long time since we’ve experienced such amazing customer service in the food industry. Keep doing what you’re doing because it’s wonderful! We will be back every time we are in Peterborough! �

After seeing the great reviews on Facebook we stopped at Sophia's for dinner tonight...the gyros platter was delicious and my husband said his burger platter was yummy as well. We will definitely make Sophia's our go to place when we are in town. Next time a full order of onion rings will be a must!

Visited yesterday for the first time and was very impressed. The food prices were fantastic, especially for a student like myself, the food was delicious and the interior was very modern and welcoming. We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and given a run down of the menu which was helpful for a first time customer. Very kind staff, fast service and a personable experience. 10/10 would recommend and visit again!

My first visit to Sophia's Kitchen: I ordered the banquet burger and a garden salad for take-out today. WOW! It was fantastic! A banquet burger is the first thing I try at any restaurant, a way for me to rate establishments. The last time I had a burger this delicious, I had to travel an hour outside of Peterborough. I am so glad Sophia's Kitchen is around the corner from me. Affordable prices and flippin' delicious banquet burger! (I was too full to get to the salad, lol)! And I can only assume that it was THE Sophia who rang us out. She was extremely delightful, as was the atmosphere. Thanks for the yummy in my tummy! I hope this place is here to stay!

You want real food at a great price then this is the place,amazing and flavourful food with excellent service!!! I recommend to everyone!

We loved it! I ordered steak on a kaiser and it was delicious. My partner ordered a chicken souvlaki on a pita and loved his as well!!! The fries are so good. We will return. Quality food, great people and delicious milkshakes.

The food here is excellent! Huge servings, with tons of toppings on the burgers! The service is amazing! I will for sure be back and won't hesitate to recommend Sophia's.

My first visit to Sophia's Kitchen was amazing, the portions were fantastic, the price is amazing, the owner lady Patty is awesome she talks and jokes. All the staff were great .. definitely a repeat customer and telling all my friends to go there

I ate at Sophie's while visiting my sister and family. I live a 2 hour drive away and would definitely order from here again during another visit. I really rate restaurants on their fries and Sophie's fries were delicious!

We have LOVED it from the first time we tried it! Several things we have tried, and all of them have brought culinary joy to our tummies! Giant onion rings, crispy not greasy, gyros that were so filling we decided to share it next time. French fries and burgers that were outstanding, and milkshakes that you will swear you were back at a 50's diner. Whipped to perfection with real ice cream!! All in all, every visit has been aaaaamazing!

Great food! Great veggie burger for all the vegetarians out there!! Can’t wait to go back!
