Review Il Vecchio's - Penticton

Great customer service! Very tasty sandwich. Got it to go, looks good on my plate. Lots of yummy options for the contents. Cheese's, meats, veg etc. Not sure if there are choices for the bun but might want to try another option next time. Something more substantial.

Il Vecchio is hands down the best sandwich place in the Okanagan. I have an argument with my significant other because Mediterranean Market in Kelowna also has good sandwiches but you can't beat the veggies at Il Vecchios. Artichoke hearts, sundried tomatoes, eggplant, and the basics of course like lettuce tomato and pickles. Bring cash, you won't be disappointed

I went in to get a sandwich for lunch, everything was wrapped and ready to go but come time to pay I pull out my phone to use Apple Pay and he tells me it’s cash only….. with no way to access an atm I just left and got pizza. Come on guys this is 2022 what the hell. Very unimpressed. And as also stated the lines are an absolute mess. If there are other people in like the staff are running around like headless chickens asking you multiple times to repeat what you already told them. Just avoid this place.

The sandwiches are delicious and good price for the quality. The staff are incredibly rude. I’ve been going here regularly for 10+ years and they’ve been rude most times I’ve visited. The owner is present when staff are rude and sometimes the owner is rude too. It’s cash only, even during the pandemic. If you go in within an hour of closing they won’t slice meat or cheese. They’ve had problems with the flow of the store for more than a decade and continue to leave it as is. This causes issues when there’s more than a couple people ordering a sandwich as customers don’t know where to stand or look at options and the staff run back and forth between counters. It gets chaotic easily. The sandwiches are good but the experience has never been pleasant.

*cash only so be prepared!* Great place for lunch sandwiches, panini, and try their tirimisu! Had the Ruben panini, was delicious, takes about 15 minutes to prepare. You can have side of pasta salad or potato salad. Everything made with care and fresh. With the sandwiches, get all the veggies... Includes artichoke, eggplant and lettuce (and maybe more, I forget). Keep in mind, Only three or four small tables inside to eat. (So may have to take out if it's busy)

Heard good things about this place and decided to try it. I tried the 2 meat + 1 meat sandwich. There were plenty of cheeses and meats to choose from. The person helping us was great. She was really helpful in telling us what paired well and even let us try some samples. The sandwich came with veggies, including lettuce, tomato, pickle, eggplant, artichoke, sun dried tomatoes, and pepperoncini. Also you get to choose from hot or sweet mustard. It was about 5.50 or around there for a sandwich. Definitely worth the price. I felt satisfied with this sandwich. Also really friendly service. I would go back if I was in the area again!

What could be better than a perfectly made sandwich with amazing ingredients? I'll tell you... add in amazing people that know their stuff, have genuine smiles and are super friendly and helpful! A true gem!!!

I continue to come back to Il Vecchios for the great, no amazing sandwiches. But what also amazes me is the bizarre counter and service setup they use. There is no flow. Customers are walking back and forth in front of each other to order, then to pick their toppings, then to pay. The subway model of service is used for a reason, it makes sense, there is a flow to it. Everyone behind the counter does everything, it is chaos. Customers who frequent the deli we used to this and know what to expect, but it still doesn't make sense. Today it took my friends and I 40 minutes to get our 6 sandwiches. I wouldn't say that's acceptable. No one seems to be in charge, and the miscommunication between staff was evident. Granted it was a busy Saturday, but the length of time we stood waiting will make me think twice about going back any time soon. <br/>The sandwiches were delicious.

There is no other sandwich like it in Canada, it's the combination of the right bun, condiments (sweet mustard> hot), cheese, meat(go with the regular 4 or the spicy 4 meat) and veggies (get all the veggies). It is amazing, only other comparable sandwich would be a perfect bahn mi from Ba Le sandwich shop in Vancouver.

Poor service. The sandwiches are so delicious that I'll come back even though the service was terrible. I was sitting down eating my sandwich when a guy walked out the door after buying a sandwich to go and I heard the employees talking negatively about him.

Lunch sandwiches. We travel to penticton quite often,and when in town we make sure buy lunch here . Best kaiser sandwiches in town.

Good food, bad service. Sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced.<br/>But the girls working there are never friendly. Their poor attitude makes me feel like they're mad I'm in there ordering food, as if it's a hassle.

Lots of hype.. I was looking for a good lunch joint in Penticton. After reading the reviews on here I thought this was the place! After eating here however I was kind of disappointed. Sandwich was mostly lettuce, and it would be really nice if they had a counter. Just pick a number, do a bit of shopping, then when you number is called you can go up and place your order for sandwich or meats. Staff was friendly but I likely wont return.

Been here just once when I was in Penticton. How did I find it? Well first I was just parked on the street when I saw a guy leaving with what potentially looked like the most delicious thing I've ever seen so I asked where he got it and he told me the name (which I unfortunately forgot at the time) later when my roomate and I met up with our friends from penticton and we were deciding where to get lunch they told uis we had to go to this deli and get the best sandwich (two meat one cheese with all the toppings and the sweet mustard dressing Mmmmmm!!!) of our life. When we saw them we laughed because it was exactly what the man on the street had! Later in kelowna when telling my boss about this place he knew exactly what I was talking about! This deli is famous in penticton for good reason! I will go here for that amazing sandwich every time I'm in penticton from now on!

Please do your tastebuds a favor an visit. Best sandwich in the valley if not bc! The staff is great, food is fantastic! Be sure to try the soup in the fall!

Travel for hours for these sandwhiches. I went to school in penticton and would always eat here for lunch. best staff and the most delicious sandwhiches i have ever had. now i live a few hour away and when i am craving a really good sandwhich i will drive all the way there for one of these sandwhiches. soooo delicious

This is exactly the type of establishment that Gastrodamus searches for on his quest for culinary excellence. When one walks in the door you wonder if you are in the right place. One part grocery store, one part delicatessen. "how do I order?""what do I get?". Simply walk up to one of the highly trained delicatesseurs and ask for a sandwich. If they offer an option, just say yes. Choose your meat wisely and they take care of the rest. Side with Italian varieties and you shall not be dissapointed. Gma style Sandwich. You can get a scrumptious sandwich for under $5 and it tastes like something your grandma would make. All the ingredients are fresh and the atmosphere reaks of Italy. Enjoy!

Mmmmm. Hands down the best deli sandwiches I have ever eaten!<br/>Fresh buns, great selection. <br/><br/>Very 'family' feeling. <br/>It can be busy during lunch hour though so keep that in mind.

Il Vecchio. Charming little custom sandwich producing deli. People line up at lunchtime and have been doing this for years. Great value for the money in keeping with the tradition of offering reasonably priced food without any frills. This is not a restaurant but there are a couple of tables to sit at and enjoy your treat.<br/>A bit off the beaten track but worth the one block walk off of main street.

Bellisimo!. A true Italian spot! Staff is amazing, food is amazing, freshly made tirimisu everyday! The sandwiches are TO DIE FOR! Amazing... very busy around lunch time so plan ahead! Great choices... definitely worth a visit!
