First time there. From coffee, entrée and dessert, it was absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly. What a great little italian place.
Like Home. Walked in with without reservations with 6 people. They accommodated us perfectly and quickly. Food taste like my grandma's kitchen! Unique and worth a visit.
Small and very casual space. Loved the gluten-free noodle option. Everyone in our group had pasta and enjoyed it very much.
I had a 'make your own' 6 slice pizza and had prosciutto, fresh basil, red onion, and mushrooms on it. One word - delicious. Not sure if they have a wood burning oven but the quality of the pizza was amazing compared to anything in the area and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this place and definitely try the pizza! In the upper eschelon of Italian pizza in Ottawa and is similar in style to Vittoria Trattoria's.
Great Neighbourhood Italian Resto. Having seen favourable reviews on Urbanspoon, my wife and I went for dinner here on July 7th.
Very pleasant resto, with red and white checkered table cloths and an area in back, where my mind envisioned an older Italian gentleman eating spaghetti, with his large hired help at each shoulder and one step behind...
The ladies at the table beside us were very friendly and anxious to know what we ordered.
Letting us know what they were having, what they recommend and claiming they go there quite a bit and how everything is fresh and just amazing.
The owner was very busy, ensuring everything is perfect and the little girl serving us was very sweet and helpful.
The beer was cold :)
My caesar salad was perfect and my wife loved her small Arturo Salad.
For the main, my wife really enjoyed her Nona Teresa and my single serving Meat Lover pizza didn't last long enough. -Actually the portions were perfect and didn't leave us feeling full and needing to loosen our belts.
Very reasonable price at $55 with tax.
We'll be back, and my wife will be back sooner than I with her co-workers very soon.
This is my favorite place in Ottawa. The food is as wonderful as the staff. Thank you so very much for the brilliant evening!
Great place. I've been to Arturo's a few times for dinner and it never disappoints. The new owners (one of whom is a professional chef) are lovely and have done wonders for the menu. Everything is fresh, tasty and homemade. The antipasto platter is great, as is the risotto and the different pizzas and pastas. Save room for desert because the tiramisu will blow your mind.
Ambiance for an appetite!. Just got back from Arturo's... Wow. Loved it! We last went on New Year's Eve under the previous ownership and it was pretty underwhelming. The new owners, who are super friendly roll-up-the-sleeves types roaming the floor, have made a world of difference. We had the antipasto to start out. Really well done. My wife had the risotto, which was perfect. So many risottos come out as mushy, starchy lumps. Blech. Not this one. It came out just like it should: nice and chewy with articulated grains in a sauce that wasn't overpowered with truffle oil (blech). I had the special which was shrimp and asparagus in a cream sauce on a bed of very delicate noodles (I don't know what they were, but they were like egg noodles with more oomph). Outstanding! The sauce was just right - creamy, but not cumbersome, with just a hint of anise in the sauce. Finally we had the tiramisu. Uniquely presented in a mason jar with four lady fingers standing at attention... wow, wow, wow. Really perfect. So many tiramisus come out like custard, but they do it with just the right touch. Right between a custard and whipped cream. Delicate, but still substantial. We'll definitely be back!
Fantastic food , fast service . Loved my Chicken pesto sandwich with Caesar salad . Totally yummy!!
Yum. Great gluten-free options. Got to taste test a little cheesecake last night, I hope it makes a regular appearance on the menu soon!
Wonderful food and cheerful staff. Great. Ambiance. Arugula salad is so fresh tasting and delicious. We choose chef selection pasta dish with chicken and pesto tomato sauce. Again. Very fresh tasting bursting in flavour and just the right portion size. The garlic bread was a nice compliment.
Pretty good, nice little find!. I just discovered this place recently, I too, thought it was a deli or store as it looks like that way off the road.
I was quite impressed overall. The atmosphere is really nice, and although it's pretty small it doesn't feel too crowded. Though I was there for a bit of a later dinner so it wasn't crazy busy during the time I was there.
I had one of the special pasta's that came with a rose sauce. I really appreciate that they offer gluten free pasta (and pizza, which I haven't tried yet) and it's only $1.50 or so more, not $3 or 4 bucks like some places. And it was the best GF pasta noodles I've had in a restaurant, sometimes they are too tough (corny) or soft and gummy (ricey). So great job with the GF offerings!
Everything tasted like it was homemade and the portions were really good. I felt that the rose sauce was a bit weak on flavour, I know it's not supposed to be spicy as it's a tomato cream sauce, but I felt it lacked a bit of oomph, and a bit more flavour would kick it up a notch. It did taste good, and homemade which is a definite plus, but their rose sauce could use a bit more something as it was quite weak in the flavour department. Other than that, my dining partner and I really enjoyed our meal and experience there. My partner had one of the specials as well (pasta) and said it was fantastic. We had some nice red house wine (also reasonably priced) and their desserts were excellent. They have a GF brownie too, for those with celiac that have a sweet tooth. I didn't try it but heard it was very good by someone else who had recently been there.
All in all, great experience and I'll definitely be going back. Looking forward to trying the pizza next time!
Best Italian eatery discovery. My family and I had our first experience at Arturo's last night and I was beyond impressed with the service and the quality of the food. From the moment I walked into Arturo's and took in the wonderful smell of their kitchen I knew I was in for a treat. The service was great and extremely helpful (we had a 3 year old with us). Our food was nicely presented and after one bite I determined it was the best ravioli and rosé sauce I had ever had. Everyone in my dinner party was beyond impressed and pleased with their meal. They serve possibly the best and most flavourful pesto I've ever had. My husband and father-in-law both had the tiramisu for dessert- both were beyond impressed--- with my father-in-law saying it was second (and only by a slim margin) to the tiramisu he had in Sienna, Italy. It is a reasonably priced restaurant and we were very happy with the portion size for what we were paying. We will definitely be going back and have already recommended it to family and friends. Thank you for such a delicious experience.
Great food Great service F.... Great food
Great service
Friendly atmospher
Arturo's is a fine example of home style Italian cooking. There's so much to like about this restaurant - from the neighborhood to its friendly staff, quaint decor, and the clear view of the kitchen staff that's provided from the seating area. The food, of course, is the best part. The menu had variety, without offering too much. I found it difficult to choose between the pasta special and the pizza (they looked and smelled so good). In the end, my partner and I each had a pasta special (smoked salmon tagliatelle in rosé for me and pasta carbona for him). We also started with their antipasto platter. The food was fresh and full of flavour. The portions were perfect - just enough. As an Italian, the food reminded me of good home cooking. The prices were also extremely reasonable in my mind. We'll definitely be going back, especially to try the pizza. It's also good to know that they have many gluten-free options!
Nice place for basic-but-tasty Italian. Went for date night a while ago. I had a nice fresh pasta, she had a pizza. Both were really good. The place is a little crowded with slightly rushed service to match, but the food was great and we'll definitely be back again.
First time at Arturo's today with my mother and sister for lunch. The atmosphere is cozy and reminded us of our trip to Italy last year! The service was friendly and quick.
We had an antipasti plate, bruschetta and the pasta of the day. Melt in your mouth delicious! The food is prepared fresh and served hot.
I could not believe the prices for such wonderful food. Amazing value/$.
This is a new favorite for sure!
Pizza is best. My boyfriend and I ordered pizza and both were great! I think we will come back!
Best gluten free pizza and beer in the city.
New fav over Clocktower, sushiMe, and the works. :)
We have been coming here since it opened. It just keeps getting better. My grandfather is a vegan and he has no problem here. My favourite is the chicken cutlet.
First Time - We'll be Back. Just stopped by Arturo's for a quick Friday night dinner and it was great. It was so good we ordered some take-home pasta and sauce from the counter so we could have some more later. First time there, but we'll be back.
We were seated right away even though it was a Friday night. Quarters were pretty tight, but it is a small restaurant so to be expected.
Only comment we had was that it was a bit chilly/drafty, but it is December in a small restaurant. May just want to bring a sweater next time (in the winter).
The apps were excellent (bruschetta and caprese salad). The salad was super fresh and had great flavour. My wife said it reminded her of summer.
We both ordered off the daily pasta specials and they were really good. My wife said it was the best rose sauce she's had in Ottawa.
I just finished the most delicious soup. I had their butternut squash soup along with a salad. I can honestly say the best I havr ever had. I just happen to pop in and all I can say is amazing I will be coming back and will be having them cater any event.
Everyone is so friendly. My wife and I always split the prosciutto/arugula pizza. Best in town! Soup is also good. The bill is easy on the wallet too!
Love it!. This place is very yummy and fresh. They make their own fresh pasta, and the prices are very reasonable. The stuffed pastas however, are from Parma Ravioli. I get that to make myself at home, so I opted for their home made spaghetti and it was well worth it! They had no problem switching ingredients, as I do not like olives. I love how all the pasta dishes are daily speicals as well, allows for inspiration. My partner loved the Napoli pizza as well. The tiramisu was out of this world, best I have had in Ottawa so far. Muskoka beer on tap, the dark one is great and I loved the espresso. Thanks so much for a great dinner that did not break our bank!
Finally a perfect in Ottawa! Coolest chef, fresh ingredients, amazing service...
Absolutely delicious!. My husband and I have now eaten Arturo's food twice: once in the restaurant a few days before Valentine's Day this year, and once at home (take-out) last weekend. The food was delicious on both occasions.
When we ate in the restaurant, we had the antipasti platter, which featured cured ham, Italian salami, parmesan, olives, and Arturo's own grilled eggplant. Everything was fresh and tasty. For a main course, we shared a half pan salciccia pizza (mushrooms and Italian sausage). For dessert, my husband had tiramisu (creamy and decadent) while I had the brownies (deep, dark and delicious). We washed everything down with the excellent and inexpensive house chianti, followed by 2 strong and aromatic coffees. Yummy meal, I was practically purring with happiness at the end.
A quick explanation of Arturo's pizzas: they are the thin crust kind, and they come in 3 sized: personal, half-pan, and full-pan. The half and full pans are rectangular shaped. The full pan has 12 pieces and is the size of a large baking pan, while the half pan is (obviously) 6 pieces and about half the size of the full pan.
We pretty much repeated the Arturo experience on a take-out basis last weekend, and I am pleased to report that everything was just as delicious at home than in the restaurant. This time, we had the Caesar salad (crisp lettuce, crunchy bacon, croutons and parmesan of course, not drowning in dressing and served with a side of lemon), followed by the salciccia pizza again (since we fell in love with it the previous time) and 2 tiramisus since they were out of brownies. They quoted us 20 minutes when we called to order and everything was ready when my husband went to pick it up.
All in all, Arturo's is a new favourite for us in our neighbourhood of Vanier/New Edinburg.
Always friendly staff and their homemade pasta is amazing. Love this place.

Fantastic. Love this place...just made my night yum!!!!
Overall 9/10. Dinner for 4, Bruschetta, Garden Salad, Eggplant parm sandwich, a lasagna special, small meat lover's pizza, tartufo, brownie, 4 coffees and a bottle of red for a total of $89.00 not including tip.
- Greeted with smiles
- Seated quite quickly
- 9/10 for Service - prompt and friendly lost 1 point because I like my water glass filled frequently (most places lose this mark for me).
- Food timing was excelent with only the expected wait time.
- Price 10/10!!!
- $10 corking fee for BYOB
- Food quality was great, my pizza 10/10, my dad's lasagna was a 7/10 he says, sister's sandwich was 8.5 and the salad... it's a salad...
- Decor 7/10 - could use a little renovation touch ups and I would have preferred my water in a glass (as opposed to plastic).
My sister's seat wet... I let her sit on my jacket.
- An overall great experience.
What can I say more than OMG!. I am a huge fan of this place and come probably once a month. The food is always delicious, portions are reasonably sized and nothing feels over priced. It's in my top 5 pasta places in the city easily and never fails to impress me when I go.
I am not a fan of their wait staff who I find are not as familiar with the food/wine as they should, nor are they very attentive to their customers.
This is one of the few places I let the less than acceptable service get in my way of a great meal.
Amazing Pizza. Prosciutto and arugula pizza is probably the best I've had in my life. Sandwiches are great too, service is always awesome.
Great Neighbourhood Joint. I've been going to Arturo's since it opened and have enjoyed watching what Andre has done with the place over the past few years. Great sandwiches (the spicy Arturo is the best), nice pizzas at very reasonable prices. Given how busy it was the last time I stopped by, looks like lots of people share my enthusiasm.
Best pizza in town. Get the spicy sausages with hot peppers as my recommendation. Big pizza, fair price, cute servers and cooks... Couldn't ask for better experience. Two thumbs up!
Literally the best. I cannot say enough good things about Arturo's. a weekly treat is to get a pizza from art's, and it never disappoints. an amazing restaurant that lets you grab your food and go or sit down for a 3 hour lunch with friends. super friendly staff, locally owned business with a strong sense of community. authentic italian food for unbeatable prices. highly recommended!
Best in town. Thank you Andre for bringing amazing Italian food to Ottawa! We gladly drive from Kanata to eat your pizza, pasta, or anything else and often bring food home with us.
For real homemade Italian food , great atmosphere and friendly staff go to Auturo's!
Fabulous!!!!. It has become our neighbourhood drop in for Friday night dinner....great pasta specials and you have to try the arturo salad. Good wine and a cappucino.
Sooooo good.. All round delicious food! We go to Arturos almost every time we are downtown.
This is my first review! I've been using urbanspoon for a while now, and find the site a great resource. I saw this following review pop up about Arturo's today, and I just have to comment:
"Bland pizzas for not cheap. Go further to Pizzazzazza on Beechwood. Amazing!"
First of all: who has ever had a bland pizza? Even if you didn't enjoy the taste, pizza by nature has PLENTY! This is just pure slander.
Second: Do you work for Pizzazzazza much? Funny that the day this reviewer joined urbanspoon is the day she decides to add a negative review for a place that is in competition with Pizzazzazza.
Fantastic Experience Everytime!. Our family are repeat customers of Arturo's on Beechwood. Their fresh made pastas, sauces and pizzas are at the top of our list. If you haven't had an opportunity to go in for lunch or dinner we encourage you to do so or take home and cook at home.
The friendly staff are a compliment to the fantastic food. 5 ***** stars.
Arturo's is soooo goooood :). Wow, I am so impressed with Arturo's!!!! It's hard to find good Italian cuisine in Ottawa, but I found the answer to it!
ARTURO'S!!!!!!!!
Keep up the great work! I have nothing but great things to say about that place, and it's the only place I'll go to on my lunch break :) I can't wait to try EVERYTHING on the menu!!! Everything's been AMAZING so far!
Great place to eat!. I am from Kingston and we always make sure we stop at Arturo's when we are in Ottawa. Great food and friendly service. Prices are extremely reasonable for what you get!!!
Fantastic Experience. Arturo's is not close to home (Kanata) but I've made the trek out there many a times and it's always worth it. Great service and great food! I'm a huge pizza lover and they never disappoint. I also like taking home some of their fresh pasta and sauce home with me too - can't wait to visit again soon!
If you love Sault Ste. Marie style Italian comfort food, this is your spot. Homestyle pizza, great fresh pasta & sauces, tasty panini. Try the meatball sandwich - it's not cheap or even very big, but quality trumps quantity. Friendly service from hands-on family owners and good casual eat-in. Licensed.
Great food and great people. Very affordable and generous portions. Home cooked meals. Great thin crust pizza, homemade pasta and sauces. My bf loves the sandwiches although I'm not a sandwich eater. Andre has a deli and slices the meat freshfor your own Sammy. Always a few salad options each day. Now licensed. GREAT coffee and espresso options to finish off a meal My favorite meal is the pasta of the day (any of them) or te caprese salad with a homemade chicken cutlet Staff always make sure you have what you want.
Arturo's Market is well known in New Edinburgh for its awesome Italian fare. I've read plenty of positive reviews and have been craving a meal there for ages. The only problem: Gluten, as always. Well, no longer! A few weeks ago, Arturo's introduced gluten-free pizza and pasta to their menu ! Hooray! I've since visited them twice for dinner - once for pizza and once for pasta. On my first visit, I had a Nonna Teresa pizza, which was roasted red peppers, artichokes and goat cheese on a tasty thin crust. It was REALLY good!! I actually found Arturo's pizza crust to be better than the one at La Dolce Vita on Preston Street. Upon my second visit, I tried pasta in a tomato sauce with veggies. It, too, was quite good! The sauce was well-crafted and flavourful, and especially delicious with a dusting of parmesan on top. The pasta appeared to be corn-based. It was al dente (a good thing), but somewhat cracked apart under tooth instead of being more yielding like traditional gluten-filled pasta
