Another gem in Orleans. Tonight was our first visit to this tremendous Italian restaurant. Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted by Luigi and his wife, both of whom are wonderful people.
Their menu and wine list are small and that often means the quality is exceptional. That definitely is the case at this hidden gem. We tried 3 appetizers, the bruschetta, the zucchini and the flambé escargot made at out table. Each of these were excellent. For our main courses, one person chose the veal involtini, another chose the pasta dish and I selected the veal parmigiana. We all enjoyed our respective dishes.
The ambiance and service was excellent. We found the prices for the of quality we received was well worth going to this hidden gem. My friends and I are going to be recommending this wonderful restaurant to all our friends. This is a must try Italian culinary experience.
I had dinner here a few weeks ago and it was the best meal I have had in a long time. The chef and staff were warm and inviting and the food was homemade and delicious. The zucchini appetizer was crisp and deliciously seasoned, and the lasagna that I had was melt in your mouth, unforgettable. Everyone else in my party was just as impressed and I will definitely be back. For anyone that wants unbelievably delicious Italian, I highly recommend this place, just had some family come here for lunch today and they messaged to say how great it was on my recommendation!
This is a fine Italian restaurant, with very good food, a pleasant wine selection, good decor and excellent, personable service.
Upon arriving, we were both greeted by the owner, and immediately served a deliciously warm serving of home-made bread. We both ordered the chicken parmigiana and one of us ordered the Casari mara valpolicello ripasso wine -- there was a tiny bit of a mixup because we were brought a white wine but this was replaced immediately with the correct one, along with apologies for the mixup.
The meal was very good, the freshly made pasta and sauce (tomato with pesto) was perfect, as was the breaded chicken with melted mozzarella and basil sauce. The veggies were served with a balsamic glaze which made my partner wanted to lick his plate clean. :-)
Dessert was FANTASTIC, a chocolate cake which had been heated in the oven such that bits of the sugars were caramelised which resulted in crunchy morsels of chocolatey goodness mixed in with the rest of the cake.
Portion size was appropriate, we ended up feeling satisfied and happy. It cost about $70 for a full meal with wine.
Just as we were leaving, I chatted with the proprietor about bread-baking techniques (he makes the desserts, pasta and bread, and since I'm an amateur baker I thought I'd pick up some pointers), he gave me advice, an extra loaf of bread, and an offer to drop in any time for some dough to make my own pizza :-)
We had an enjoyable evening and great place to visit and eat excellent food at a reasonable price. We'll go again and recommend you give the place a try too.
Absolutely the best Italian food and service in the city. Ottawas best kept secret. The fresh pasta and home made sauces are amazing! The service sets the standard! Thank you Luigi
I had the Veal Parmegian with the spaghetti. Pasta is fresh and oh so great. Bread nice and warm. And he speaks French. Love it. Will go again and again...
Amazing Ambiance. Chef Luigi was amazing. Fresh pasta and bread paired with great wine what is there not to love. Will definitely come back to this great little gem
So i had a craving for Lasagne to pair with a 40$ bottle of wine picked up on a recent wine tour. Called ahead to order Lasagne, but they had just sold out... no problem , Luigi the Chef came on the phone and offered to make a dish that would not disappoint. I agreed and 30 mins later went into the quaint, homey restaurant to pick it up. Very friendly there. My wife remarked to me as we were enjoying this at home, that it was as good as the meals she ate daily on a trip to Italy, I concurred not have being to Italy but do appreciate good food. We will be back and so will our friends and family. Now thats customer service.
Luigi the owner and chef is a great guy who believes in customer service and quality Italian food. He recommended the zucchini sticks (fritti) and they were amazing. We had pizza and lasagna and the portion size was amazing and quite tasty. Worth a try!
