Review Wandee Thai Cuisine - Ottawa

The smells as you enter this restaurant are wonderful. Very friendly staff and super busy which is a great hint. Top notch ingredients used. Only fault was we found the dishes too sweet. Thai food doesn’t need so much sugar as it’s flavours speak volumes. Will order again but request less sweetness.

My husband and I ordered from here for the very first time today and we were so impressed! We have been looking for a place in Ottawa that doesn't serve "Americanized" ketchup-based pad thai for sooo long and we've finally found it! Everything we ordered was amazing. Great portions, great prices, no skimping on the ingredients, and of course, GREAT taste. We will definitely be ordering from here again!

The woman who runs this place is very sweet. She brought my food outside while I was sick with Covid and threw in a soup for free , telling me that it would help with my throat. The food itself it honestly delicious! I got the “ Khao pad Kra Paow” with beef and it was a great portion size and tasted great! The soup was also very tasty. Definitely check this place out! Well worth it!!

I ordered the Som Tum and Gaeng Ka Ri Gai. I've never had papaya salad "Som Tum" before and it was great. A fresh salad with great balance of ingredients. We ordered the regular spicy levels and for people who are moderately good with spice it was perfect. The Potato Chicken Yello Curry "Gaeng Ka Ri Gai" was amazing. The yello curry was pure sweet smooth and silky. On the potatoes and chicken the flavor was perfect. They didn't skimp on the chicken either you get lots. I would recommend ordering this dish with a side of rice the creamy curry flavor with potatoes and rice was soo good. The service was great food filled up the generous sized takeaway containers. Pick up was a breeze. Food was ready exactly when i set my pickup time.

Poor customer service ruined the experience at this otherwise tasty restaurant. Edit: response to owner: If there is a language barrier then you need to address that with staff and help them improve. Restaurant told us it will be ready in 10 mins! They were clear we ordered. The request was simple - to put meat and egg on the side. This was understood during the phone call and in person. Nothing more than that. You did not do your very best. If you are the owner and promote this poor customer experience, then your business will not do well regardless of some good cooks which is the only good part of visiting your place. Details: During a 4 Hour drive to Ottawa we called and ordered one fried rice after discussing with the phone attendant whether it would be enough for 2 to 3 people. Upon arrival after 30 minutes we were told the order was not made in case it was not enough for 2 to 3 people! We were famished and disappointed. After reviewing the size of one takeout box we decided to order two and waited 20 minutes more. $33.79 When I asked for three paper plates and three cutleries the lady refused and only provided two plates and upon Insistence 3 cutleries. We decided to eat at the picnic table outside the restaurant as dining inside was not allowed. When the lady saw us managing with the two plates she walked outside and offered one more plate. Guess she changed her mind. After the meal when I asked if I can throw the takeout boxes into the garbage she offered to take the bag and did it herself which was nice. However the overall experience was impacted by the initial poor customer service and we will not be returning to the restaurant despite the good food. Customer service, customer Experience and professionalism matters. Thank you Ps. Perhaps the staff can use some customer experience training.

My sisters and I had Wandee Thai takeout and loved it. Last time we were in Ottawa we sampled as many thai restaurants as possible. On return, I feel confident saying that Wandee Thai has the best thai take out. I love the pad thai and the pad see ew. Full flavours and it was fresh when we picked it up. Makes for a perfect breakfast the next morning too.

Thai food has always been one of my top go to foods. But since visiting Thailand, there was a flavour void in my life for great Thai food. That is until I discovered Wandee and their Khao Soi. Unreal.

Gave this place 5 stars a couple years ago. Absolutely loved it. Last week I stopped in and got spring rolls and pad thai. What a big let down. The spring rolls were sopping in oil. Squeezed them out with parper towels, yuk! The pad Thai was one huge glutinous glob of noodles with sdoome chicken and vegs thrown over it.a It truly resembled wallpaper pase and was just as tasy. Sorry to say I'm done. What a Th ai.

A hidden gem off of Little Italy. I find a lot of sit-down Thai restaurants are overpriced, and take-out places often skimp out on quality, but this place is a good mix of both. Quality for very reasonable prices. The pad kee mao is excellent - generous portions, good mix of salty and spicy taste (and it does pack quite a decent punch for people who love their spices!). The staff are super friendly and the service is quick (since it is primarily a take-out place). Highly recommend if you are in the mood for Thai.

Woke up sooo unbelievably hungover after celebrating a Sens playoff win a lil too much.  Had a pounding headache all day but needed to get my chores done.  After hours and hours trudging through duty after duty I got home and realized I locked myself out of my flat.  After a long wait for the landlord to swing by my stomach was finally ready to tackle some solid food. I gathered up my partner and we hit the road for Wandee. Only one food can cure the immense suffering  inside of my head and guts and thats an extra spicy panang curry. Wandee knocked it out of the park.  I couldn't hold back my caveman-like grunts. I had to hunch over, pull the bowl to the edge of the table and wrap a protective arm around my prize.  That scent, that taste, that spice!  HHEJSHD!!  My hangover melted away, slowly replaced by the endorphin's floating like angels through my entire being. I was cured! Hallelujah, I was cured! In a daze we retreated back to our place knowing full well, that the lava flowing through our bodies was going to make tomorrow a little hard to deal with but it will be totally worth it.<br/>

Fantastic food. Had dinner combo 1 and the shrimp fresh rolls. Excellent flavour and huge portions. Service on the phone and delivery was excellent.

Great hidden Thai restaurant in little Italy. The food is flavorful and the price reasonable. We restaurant is small so we always do take away. The kitchen is in full view so you can watch them prepare the dishes while you wait. It is always busy so you know it must be good.

Very good food, fresh with the amount of spice you want.<br/>Had the green and yellow curries combos.<br/>Spring rolls not oily.<br/>Open kitchen concept. Nice to watch.<br/>Friendly service, good value.

Rich flavours, cooked to patron preference. This is as real as it gets. You want an authentic pad Thai? Best in Ottawa. You want a unique item that will make you wish you had never even SEEN another Thai restaurant? Go here or miss out.

Very fast delivery, friendly driver and excellent food! Generous portions. I only with there were more vegetables in the food I ordered. It was still delicious though!

New favourite Thai in Ottawa!

Almost ok?. My partner and I love Thai food and it is our go-to delivery fare. Wandee Thai's website was a snap to use and the delivery driver was very friendly (he said his wife was the chef) so I was rather surprised and disappointed when the food was not what we were expecting. While she loves the spicy curries my body can't tolerate even a little spice. The menu is labelled, as most are, with little chili peppers next to the spicy dishes but this is apparently arbitrary. I ordered sweet and sour chicken but what I got was some sort of spicy saucy concoction not resembling any sweet and sour thai dish I have had before. Unfortunately I could not eat it and as my partner doesn't do pineapples, neither could she. I am fine with putting a personal twist on dishes (although it was loaded with zucchini and not a bell pepper to be found, oddly) but adding chili flakes to the one dish that is most certainly not supposed to be spicy is a no go for me. As for my partner's dish, red curry, she had specifically requested no eggplant and lo and behold, lots of the stuff. I realize it is a new restaurant and needs time to find its groove but these are some fundamental issue that should be worked out.

We loved it! three times over. I have just loved the three delicious dining experiences that I've shared with my wife eating Wandee Thai. So happy to have found this new little gem. Also, having used the delivery service we have been shocked at how quick the food arrives. <br/><br/>Looking forward to the next time.

Authentic thai. This is by far the best Thai food I have found in Ottawa. I lived in Thailand as a kid and always have trouble finding authentic Thai food and decent portions. This place delivered! I recommend with no reservations.

Ordered from the new Wandee Thai restaurant last night. The website was easy to use. The order came promptly and the food arrived piping hot.<br/><br/>I am a huge lover of red curry, and the dish did not disappoint! Lots of spicy flavour. I also ordered the fresh spring rolls: super yummy and the peanut dipping sauce was divine. My husband had the Pad Thai: I had to sneak some when he wasn't looking as he didn't want to share it was that good. <br/><br/>I am happy to have this new, fresh tasting Thai delivery option in the neighbourhood!

I've tried many Thai restaurants in Ottawa and Wandee Thai is by far my favorite. Fresh ingredients and bursts of flavors at every bite, plus the portions are a great value.

Loved the menu - great food. Delicious fresh food. The beef salad and the spring rolls were great. Will come again for dinner.

Great food and great service. Stopped by for lunch with friends and thoroughly enjoyed the food and friendly service. Tasty big portions. I like Thai food and this has to be the most authentic in Ottawa. Wish more places were like this.

Yummy delivery!. We ordered delivery after seeing the new Wandee Thai (always like trying new take out places).<br/><br/>The food arrived on time and with pleasant service.<br/><br/>We ordered the Fried Tofu (my favourite) it was firm, moist (not greasy) and served with a great dipping sauce.<br/>For our mains we had the Pad Thai, Pineapple Rice, Green Curry Chicken and the Crispy Pork & Broccoli.<br/><br/>The veggies (and pineapple) were fresh, everything was flavourful and balanced, with just enough spice.<br/><br/>Such a treat, definitely ordering again! (Also eating the leftovers for lunch tomorrow!!)

Great taste... and good portion. Stopped for lunch to checked them out. Had the Pad Kee Mau. Quick service, friendly staff, the taste was fantastic, spice well balanced, fresh vegetables and a big portion for a lunch size. Will definitely go back. New place for lunch.

Delicious!. My fiancee and I stopped by this new Thai restaurant for a quick and casual dinner. We came away with thrilled tastebuds, full bellies and leftovers for lunch! The shrimp spring rolls are a must-have: crispy, well-seasoned, and accompanied by the perfect dipping sauce. <br/>We will certainly return.
