Great place to eat out with friends and awesome selection of food! we got seated right away but the food took awhile to get to our table but definitely worth the wait! The tteokbokki was awesome and the spiciness was perfect. We got some shrimp tempura and dipped it in the sauce.
The soups all came with rice and sides to share. Plentiful amounts and very nice staff too!
Highly recommend!

The service is good, but definitely NOT traditional Korean food. We spent almost 2 months in Korea, so this is definitely not the one.
The seafood pancake is a little thin. Japchae is definitely not right. I thought they brought the wrong dish as it was so wet and soggy and tasteless.
The bulgogi is kind of ok but our son who usually loves this dish so much refused to eat it.

The entire dinner was absolutely exceptional. The flavors of each dish were so different from one another and each dish had its own array of unique textures to keep each bite different than the last. All dishes were not too salty or oily and were perfectly balanced!
Edamame and Mandoo pork dumplings were both great and perfectly cooked- 4.5/5
Bulgogi beef and rice (M3B) was a must try, massive portion of perfectly seasoned and super tender beef. Absolutely delicious and could not nearly finish the plate, left with left overs! 4.7/5
Japchaebap (M12) stir fired vermicelli noodles with vegetables and beef. The noodles and broth had an amazing enjoyable texture but there was not as much beef as other dishes and the flavor was lighter. 4.3/5

The food was bland. I got the recommended stuff: M6 was bland as hell. It was boiled meat in water! If that was soup, I can do it too.
M7: God help them. Salty, too intense in flavours, do they have different people cooking different meals?
I couldn’t even finish mine and the other was thrown out.
Please hear my cry, don’t do it!

service is great, spacious dining room for a downtown location. kid friendly.
location is easy to miss when driving there, there's a big tree and the building is dark brown.
parking: we noticed a free parking sign in the back of restaurant when we left the restaurant.

Generic Stuff
We ordered from their Rideau location and it was our first time trying this restaurant. We all got the bulgogi beef bibimbap with tteok-bokki. The food was delicious and generous in portions.The flavors were amazing and the egg on top was cooked perfectly. The tteok-bokki was slightly on the fishy side (as in you could tell there was fish sauce in it) which some people may not like but we didn't have an issue. The service was also great. Over the phone the lady that took our order was super friendly an when I saw her at the restaurant she was so polite. We will definitely be going back to try more dishes!

Went to the Nelson Street Location tonight... Great friendly service, and amazing food and when I say amazing I mean the Spicy Korean Sauce in their stir fry was so good I'd bathe in it just to smell and taste the way it did haha.. Seriously though great portion size, great prices and if your taste buds aren't satisfied when you leave than there is no hope for you!

Excellent food and service. Limited parking spaces so get there early. Exceptional service and friendly staff. Last visit I had, I went when the restaurant just opened for business (1130am) so it took a good hour to wait for the food. However the waiter did mentioned about the wait which I didn't mind. My visit (1230pm) yesterday was a merely 10 min wait.

Our favorite restaurant in Ottawa! Completely disagree with the comments about the service. In our experience it is the Best service in town - my family eats here twice a month and we love the staff they are very kind and helpful even when it's crazy busy. In fact they make so much effort for us and our kids that we really enjoy the experience every time. The food is always exceptional and so is their service. My favorite dish is Jayuk Bokum! I've had it at many restaurants but it is the best at Alirang by far! Their dumplings are sooooo good and everything is really hot and perfectly prepared every time. Love it so much! Thank you!

I don’t know about all the complains about service, because I’ve been going here at least once a year (for my bday + plus other occasions if I’m dt) for 5/6 years and the waiters have always been super nice, helpful with recommendations and don’t mind given us more side dishes (given you don’t ask too many times since Korean tradition is ONE set of side dishes per main dish).
Food is amazing, hands down the best Korean restaurant in Ottawa.

If just based on the food, I'd give it a much better review, however, the service at this restaurant has to be the worst in downtown Ottawa. Extremely slow, and non-responsive. The servers barely speak to customers other than receiving food orders. When asked to bring leftovers home, was handed a container and a plastic bag.
Again, if not for the food, they have, this place would be an absolute fail.

Here is my experience:
The Chinese waitress is so rude and keep insisting me to speak Chinese.
They have Ginseng chicken soup but required pre-order 5hrs. When I phone to order before heading to the restaurant they force me to order 2 Ginseng chicken soups else they don't serve in a rude manner way. They made a fool out of me by suggesting that I can come to the restaurant and order the soup and sit there wait for 5hrs so that I will be able to order only 1. Why they even have that dish in the menu in the first place but dont want to serve to customer?
I will never recommend this restaurants to anyone.

Good little local restaurant : Don't expect something facy but more a friendly local place. The service was polite and the food was amazing. The place is really popular so if you do not reserve, you can expect a wait to be seated. The service was fast and the price really good. To try!

We were there last night (Sunday). We had Bulgogi (M3) - a beef soup with vermicelli noodles and it was absolutely delicious. It stayed hot until the end. The side dishes were so good! Loved the potatoes. Will go back for sure! Super busy so I recommend a reservation!
