If there was a 6th star they would get it! The food is always top quality and we have never had a meal that was anything but that. The best butter chicken in the world!!

Fabulous food. Lots of vegetarian options. The buffet is amazing. The staff is always smiling and so friendly. My favorite place to eat in Ottawa. We drive from Buckingham every week for this guilty pleasure.

My husband and I went there last night for my birthday, this was the first time I've been to an indian restaurant and I was blown away with the food. the staff and owner took great care of us. we will be back soon and were bringing our family and friends. I don't care if I drive an hour to get there the food and company is worth it. Awesome food! Awesome people!

Buffet style. Not alot of options but each option was very good. Can get very busy! The older lady working the tables is so quick and efficient ie. brings out naan bread when its freshly made for each batch.

Well, I'll be damned. Having eaten at so many shitty so called Indian restaurants, this place was pretty, pretty good. Had the butter chicken (take the boy out of Delhi, never Delhi out of the boy, I guess) and garlic naan (seriously, it's not naan-bread people, it's just naan) and was not disappointed. Tandoori Chicken platter was sizzling, soft, and so damn good; Kingfisher (because nostalgia)  went down well with it. Dal Makhani was a major disappointment. Just wasn't rich enough. Kulfi, however, was great. I'd avoid the Dal next time for sure.

I have been craving a well cooked, authentic Indian meal for months now and this is the place to go. Small, cozy, and the service was a little slow, but it probably means they don't use the same tomato base for all their 'curries' (I am looking at you, rest of 'Indian' restaurants in Ottawa. ) Slightly expensive if you've lived in Toronto like I have, but totally worth it.

And to wrap up the evening, I walked over the Indian store next door and got myself a Thumbs-Up. Good times.

This restaurant is so small, it is at first deceptive because it might seem to be cheap in a not so good way. However, the service is great and the food is freaking amazing. We love the butter chicken in particular. I've never had better. Their beef vindaloo is yummy and so are the samosas. Arrive early so you can get a table because it has VERY limited seating capacity. If you arrive when it's full, get take out so you don't miss out!

Whole in the wall, buffet with slow service and the wide thought it was way to spicy... Totally worth it! Lots of spices, the pieces of meat aren't the best cuts but for the price that's quite alright. If you want slightly sweat inducing authentic Indian food I'd go here (just not for a romantic diner or for impressing clients)

This is a small, congenial venue -- perhaps 12 tables -- that probably earns most of its revenue from takeout.  On the night we were there,  the air conditioning was weak and table service was slow -- this was a bit nerve wracking, since we wanted to see a movie at the nearby theatre and didn't want to be late.  Staff were clearly struggling  to fill the high volume of takeout orders on a busy Friday night and sometimes had trouble paying attention to the people sitting at their tables.

We completely forgot about these little inconveniences when the food came.   Our appetizer, the onion bhajis, were piping hot, nicely spiced (mild, at our request), had a perfect ratio of onion to batter, and weren't too greasy.  Possibly the best onion bhajis we had ever tasted.   We also ordered the chicken garlic tikka and shrimp bhuna.  Both were delicious and beautifully presented.  Even the accompanying rice was perfectly prepared and served.  With excellent food and an average sort of atmosphere, the reason for that steady stream of takeout traffic was clear. We'll order takeout next time, too.  And we won't order if we're hurrying to see a movie.  These people seem to know that quality can't be rushed.

Went on a Saturday night, arrived before the rush, and I have to say that the food and service were both great. It truly is a hidden gem. I would recommend this place to anyone no problems.

Great experience from start to finish. Went on a Saturday before heading to the movies. Called ahead and was told no need for a reservation if we came around 5:30. Arrived at that time and walked right in; perfect timing since the place filled up just 15 minutes after we arrived. For two of us, we ordered the tikka masala and vindaloo chicken, both medium heat (server asked what heat level we like). We also ordered an order of rice, 2 regular naan and cucumber/yogurt to help with the heat. Everything arrived within 10 minutes, beautifully plated and steaming hot. Food was amazing and the perfect amount for the two of us to get nice and full. The staff would check in on us every 5-10 minutes to see how things were. The total cost, including a Tiger beer and a ginger ale was $62. Wonderful place. Always a great choice for amazing Indian food.

Hands down the best Indian food I have had in the city. The butter chicken is really top notch. Their chicken Korma is amazing too, but trying it side by side with the butter chicken was the only way I could tell the difference between the 2, maybe 1 different spice. Their garlic naan is always made fresh and delicious.

Only complaints are that it is small and there is almost always a line for lunch, and that service can be a little slow/inattentive.

But the quality is so high, I keep going back time and time again.

Amazing Every Time. Every time I am impressed with their food!

My go to's are the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, and of course the Garlic Naan. The garlic naan is amazing.

If you live in Ottawa or are in and around the area and want Indian food, this is your place!

I had the chance to pick up some take-out from Little India Cafe this week while I waited for my girlfriend to have her tattoo finished down the street.

The butter chicken and shahi paneer were both very delicious and reasonably priced, and was definitely some of he best Indian take-out we've both had in the Ottawa area.

I recommend popping in here if you're heading to a movie across the street or getting a new tattoo completed at New Moon!

A must if you like Indian food. We visit Little India Cafe whenever we have an itch for Indian food. They have the best butter chicken in Ottawa, and paired with the garlic naan bread, it's to die for.
We usually get this paired with the chicken biryani and it's the perfect amount for two. So happy to have found this place.

BEST Indian Food in Ottawa. Tiny place, across front the famous players colosseum on Carling, right beside Joes Pizza. The food is fantastic, great value if you go for the lunch buffet at 12 bucks.

Delicious food, great service!. This is easily my favourite restaurant in Ottawa.Their curries are always delicious and their staff is welcoming. The portions are perfect, though you do have to order sides if you get meat dishes. Still, one order of rice can easily be shared between two people and neither will go hungry! I've never been to the buffet, but I am always willing to wait or go early for dinners at Little India.

Really tasty - and raises the bar for paneer. I'd long heard about this gem in Ottawa's west end and my first visit did not disappoint. The food here was really tasty - flavourful, carefully prepared and all-around delicious. In particular, the recommended Mattar Paneer was top notch; the little squares of cheese were deliciously melty, very unlike any paneer I've had in the past. Baigan bharta was also excellent, although it's hard to go wrong with tandoori-oven cooked eggplant. The dishes were nicely spicy, as well, not the bland levels of spice one finds at most other places in the city, even when spicy food is requested; this was particularly the case for the - advertised as "very hot" - lamb vindaloo.

The other reviews are pretty accurate about the service here: it's slow and the staff seem fairly unable to multitask/serve multiple tables' needs in one trip. But they're nice and mean well, so it's hard to hold it against them. The food is worth it, even if your water glass is rarely refilled.

A solid choice. Had the Lamb Bhuna, Saag Paneer, butter chicken and naan. The butter chicken was quite unique from most Indian places i've been to, very creamy with subtle flavours. The Lamb was good, very tender and flavourful. The Saag Paneer was probably the best I've had yet. The naan was good but tasted a bit doughy for my tastes. My personal favourite Indian place in town is still Light of India (Glebe) but I would go back here when in the neighborhood. They do not take reservations, the staff suggested to come before 6:30 for a party of 2-4 and she was right on the mark because at 6:30 a flood of people showed up.

I went for the lunch buffet this week. Excellent dishes to choose from and an even mix of meat/meatless options. It is the only place I have been able to find Saag Paneer as an Option. Some of the other dish choices were: butter chicken, beef vindaloo, chana masala, vegetable korma, aloo gobhi and a chicken curry. The naan with garlic that they bring to your table is very tasty. The only downfalls were that many of the dishes ran out and it took awhile to refill. The price including taxes was close to 15.00. I will definitely be going back!

The best!. Total hole in the wall... small, hot and understaffed most of the time, and wait times for takeout can be quite long. That being said, this is hands down the best Indian in town. Samosas and curries are completely worth the wait, and I'm totally addicted.

Small but great. Very small! We were drawn in recently by the smells wafting down to the road. By the time we left it was full and had a line.

Great food, good service. The veggie curry platter is a really good deal for how much you get.

The only not-great part is they don't take debit, but they have multiple signs to that effect so it's not like it's a surprise.

Best Lunch Time Indian Buffet in Ottawa. After reading recent reviews, I was sorry to see that customers have had such difficult experiences with Little India's service in the evening. For the past 3 years, I have solely dined at their lunch buffet, which has been incredible each and every time. The buffet food is fresh, perfectly spiced and absolutely delicious. As far as service goes: the owners recognize me and my husband and proactively serve our usual choice of beverages, and always offer us extra naan. Water is refilled promptly. Perhaps Little India would be wiser to offer a dinner buffet as well, rather than a full menu.

Always Satisfying. This is on our restaurant shortlist. We have been dining here for 12+ years and have not ever received a bad meal. The service used to be really slow (go to the movie first, then to dinner) but is really quite reasonable now. The service is always friendly, the atmosphere is pleasant. Prices are good, for good quality dishes. Unbelievable naan!!!

Yuuuuuuummmmmmm!. We did take out. Ordered from the website menu. We had garlic naan, butter chicken, beef briyani, veggie korma & rice pulao. The basics to compare with other Indian places. These were all excellent!! Prices are great as the amount of each dish is great. This was enough to feed 4. Nice thing is you can also choose the level of spicy wanted. They told us on the phone how long it would take and we had to wait maybe 5 minutes when we got there. The place seats 24, there was only one table of 4 empty. This is my new go-to indian restaurant. The staff was very friendly too. A definite "Yes"

Mmmm Naan. The food here is great. Authentic, fresh and full of flavor. Their lamb is so tender it can easily be broken with a fork. Hands down the best garlic Naan I have had around. They do not have debit, this caught me off guard the first time I was there. I would frequent this place often if I lived closer. Be careful when ordering your food hot, as it is very very spicy. I would say their medium is comparable to many hot at many other Indian restaurants.

Best northern Indian in town, but it does take a long time to get your order. Oh, and you may have the urge to wear your Kevlar vest to dinner, but the area isn't that bad. Not great, but not that bad.

We left filled, satisfied, and impressed with our experience. We of course will be back to Little India as often as I can manage to get there while we are in the middle of packing up our house and I am taking care of two children all day. I think between now and the end of April I can manage it at least 3 more times. I'm going to try!!
