If there was a 6th star they would get it! The food is always top quality and we have never had a meal that was anything but that. The best butter chicken in the world!!
Fabulous food. Lots of vegetarian options. The buffet is amazing. The staff is always smiling and so friendly. My favorite place to eat in Ottawa. We drive from Buckingham every week for this guilty pleasure.
I went there today for dinner and ordered their non veg platter. Its really nice. If there is no buffet, you should try this. They gave me chicken curry, butter chicken, garlic naan, pickle, rice, raitha, gulab Jamun
Buffet style. Not alot of options but each option was very good. Can get very busy! The older lady working the tables is so quick and efficient ie. brings out naan bread when its freshly made for each batch.
Well, I'll be damned. Having eaten at so many shitty so called Indian restaurants, this place was pretty, pretty good. Had the butter chicken (take the boy out of Delhi, never Delhi out of the boy, I guess) and garlic naan (seriously, it's not naan-bread people, it's just naan) and was not disappointed. Tandoori Chicken platter was sizzling, soft, and so damn good; Kingfisher (because nostalgia) went down well with it. Dal Makhani was a major disappointment. Just wasn't rich enough. Kulfi, however, was great. I'd avoid the Dal next time for sure.
I have been craving a well cooked, authentic Indian meal for months now and this is the place to go. Small, cozy, and the service was a little slow, but it probably means they don't use the same tomato base for all their 'curries' (I am looking at you, rest of 'Indian' restaurants in Ottawa. ) Slightly expensive if you've lived in Toronto like I have, but totally worth it.
And to wrap up the evening, I walked over the Indian store next door and got myself a Thumbs-Up. Good times.
This restaurant is so small, it is at first deceptive because it might seem to be cheap in a not so good way. However, the service is great and the food is freaking amazing. We love the butter chicken in particular. I've never had better. Their beef vindaloo is yummy and so are the samosas. Arrive early so you can get a table because it has VERY limited seating capacity. If you arrive when it's full, get take out so you don't miss out!
Whole in the wall, buffet with slow service and the wide thought it was way to spicy... Totally worth it! Lots of spices, the pieces of meat aren't the best cuts but for the price that's quite alright. If you want slightly sweat inducing authentic Indian food I'd go here (just not for a romantic diner or for impressing clients)
This is a small, congenial venue -- perhaps 12 tables -- that probably earns most of its revenue from takeout. On the night we were there, the air conditioning was weak and table service was slow -- this was a bit nerve wracking, since we wanted to see a movie at the nearby theatre and didn't want to be late. Staff were clearly struggling to fill the high volume of takeout orders on a busy Friday night and sometimes had trouble paying attention to the people sitting at their tables.
We completely forgot about these little inconveniences when the food came. Our appetizer, the onion bhajis, were piping hot, nicely spiced (mild, at our request), had a perfect ratio of onion to batter, and weren't too greasy. Possibly the best onion bhajis we had ever tasted. We also ordered the chicken garlic tikka and shrimp bhuna. Both were delicious and beautifully presented. Even the accompanying rice was perfectly prepared and served. With excellent food and an average sort of atmosphere, the reason for that steady stream of takeout traffic was clear. We'll order takeout next time, too. And we won't order if we're hurrying to see a movie. These people seem to know that quality can't be rushed.
Went on a Saturday night, arrived before the rush, and I have to say that the food and service were both great. It truly is a hidden gem. I would recommend this place to anyone no problems.
Great experience from start to finish. Went on a Saturday before heading to the movies. Called ahead and was told no need for a reservation if we came around 5:30. Arrived at that time and walked right in; perfect timing since the place filled up just 15 minutes after we arrived. For two of us, we ordered the tikka masala and vindaloo chicken, both medium heat (server asked what heat level we like). We also ordered an order of rice, 2 regular naan and cucumber/yogurt to help with the heat. Everything arrived within 10 minutes, beautifully plated and steaming hot. Food was amazing and the perfect amount for the two of us to get nice and full. The staff would check in on us every 5-10 minutes to see how things were. The total cost, including a Tiger beer and a ginger ale was $62. Wonderful place. Always a great choice for amazing Indian food.
Hands down the best Indian food I have had in the city. The butter chicken is really top notch. Their chicken Korma is amazing too, but trying it side by side with the butter chicken was the only way I could tell the difference between the 2, maybe 1 different spice. Their garlic naan is always made fresh and delicious.
Only complaints are that it is small and there is almost always a line for lunch, and that service can be a little slow/inattentive.
But the quality is so high, I keep going back time and time again.
Amazing Every Time. Every time I am impressed with their food!
My go to's are the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, and of course the Garlic Naan. The garlic naan is amazing.
If you live in Ottawa or are in and around the area and want Indian food, this is your place!
