Review Chesterfield's Gastro Diner - Ottawa

Worth the wait. We were trying to get to this place since last year. Invariably something came up or we got too late to reach there. Must say the food was amazing. We tried some mimosas, the Fun Melt Guy and Spice Girls brunch. Melt guy is a refreshing mushroom and cheese treat while the spice girls is a lively egg and cornbread combo. Highly recommend this place for memorable brunches.

This is one of the best brunch I have ever had. Everything was tasty, and cooked to perfection. The menu has a good variety for selection. And the service was incredible. The only small inconvenience is that the place is small so even if you go early most probably you’ll have to wait, however it is worthy it. Me and bf went at 11, we were told the waiting time was like an hour and a half, however we decided to wait, and we got a place in less than an hour. We ordered the Israeli board, chicken and waffles, and a blubbery pancake and everything was delicious and the prices reasonable. I can’t wait to go again. However, have in mind that if you want to go for mimosas those are a bit pricey. They should add a bottomless mimosas. But besides that do not hesitate to go.

Absolutely excellent brunch experience. I’m among those who thing that serving food in small cast iron pans makes it 10% better. But this grub didn’t need annnny help. Delicious Bennys and Brussels for me, and the plantains were really new and interesting. To me. Will be coming back.

Chesterfields is a small but cool space. We went during the week and there was still a line at opening and a line through when we left. This place is extremely popular and we found out why. The food was extremely good, they give generous portions, their coffee was fantastic quality, and the staff was very friendly and attentive. We’d absolutely come back.

Food and service was excellent! Space is super tight and wait times are insane due to its popularity and limited seating. Also, no parking - only street parking in busy Westboro 😬 We went for Sunday brunch and waited an hour for a table. We walked around Westboro to kill time. But, food was excellent and price was fair. Would go again!

Best brunch ever! Staffs were very friendly and welcoming. Fresh orange juice was awesome to start. and the classic brunch plate was literally perfect. Egg was perfect, bacon was perfect, grilled potato was perfect, hollandaise sauce was perfect. I was very happy with every bite of it!

One of the best brunch places in Ottawa! We tried their mimosa. Though a simple drink to make, it was made to perfection! The foghorn leghorn Benny was just perfect. The poached eggs were made to perfection. The air fried chicken was great and so was their corn bread and bacon. The Brussel sprouts has just the right amount of garnish. The apple cinnamon French toast rounded off the meal as a perfect desert! I loved their bacon so much so that I asked for a serving of that with the apple cinnamon French toast. Definitely recommend this place!!

Chesterfields is hands down the best breakfast place in Ottawa!! We're fairly new to the city and have been trying to find a new 'Saturday Brunch' spot and this is the place. The staff are lovely, the food was so so amazing and everything was super fresh! 10/10 would recommend going if you're looking for great food :)

Three of us had breakfast this morning. Each of us had something different. All three of us agreed it was the best breakfast we have had in Ottawa. Not only excellent, fresh flavours but really good service.

Pretty busy on Sunday for brunch but well worth the wait. The hollandaises is one of the best I've ever had. The staff were friendly and the decor is reminiscent of grandmas house in the 70/80s or and old comfy cottage but think hipster. I'll definitely go back. Looks like one of those restaurants you would find in Brooklin NY (Williamsburg).

Another amazing gastronomical adventure. I had the Bahn Mi breakfast sandwich with a side of buffalo cauliflower as recommended by Damian, the co-owner. The service is awesome, Damian is very personable taking time to explain each dish and the small town diner vibe was perfect for morning brunch. We will be back soon.

I love this place and will return. They have a special benedict recipe on the menu weekly (benny is my fav. brunch). I'm looking forward to trying more of their menu items!

Spent a lovely breakfast with a few of my friends! We all enjoyed our food, service very attentive, coffee was refilled constantly. Love the atmosphere and would highly recommend this place! (also many families with young kids, so also good for that)

The tag line for Chesterfield's is the 'not greasy gastro diner '. This refers to the fact that all the food is cooked with a steam cooker; nothing is deep fried or pan fried. As a result, the food is delightfully full of flavour. Together with friendly staff, more than reasonable pricing, and great Westboro/Ottawa location, you are guaranteed a high-value experience. In fact, we make it a point to go there every weekend.

The beets! The beans! The waffles! The food was hands down the best I've had in years in Ottawa. Please never, ever change. But the very best part of Chesterfield's is the staff, efficient, friendly and professional. I will have to return during the week to enjoy another meal at a slower pace. Best breakfast in town! Freshest ingredients, fast service and always delicious. The ambiance is so comforting and friendly....you're likely to make friends with the tables sitting beside you even! All the staff are amazing and it's clear the cooks are working hard in their open kitchen. Special thanks to Tariq for always making our visits top knotch :)

Amazing food, atmosphere and price! You won't be disappointed when you walk into this beautiful establishment. The food is so fresh, original, and made to perfection on every order. Wonderful atmosphere and service, very relaxed and quiet even though it was quite busy. The coffee was to die for, good strong coffee that was nice and fresh. The food was wonderful, a lot of thought clearly went into their menu. Their eggs Benny is fantastic, the hollandaise sauce is the best I have had and you can never go wrong with a side of soup for breakfast. I will be back very soon, possibly tomorrow morning!

Brunch at Chesterfield's was great: service was friendly, ambience was nice although a bit cramped. The eggs benedict and blueberry pancakes were absolutely delicious and we found the price for the quality of the food to be a nice surprise! My only minor comment is that I left the restaurant with an overwhelming smell of kitchen grease in my hair, coat and clothes. Overall, great brunch experience!

Great service, good coffee and a wildly inventive menu with many eclectic side dishes to compliment traditional breakfast fare. Steak hash was very good with roasted seasonal veggies. Cheese steak excellent. Smoked salmon eggs Benny special very good. Young son was not partial to praline strawberry French toast. They brought him a Blueberry pancake to make amends. Much appreciated. Quick despite customizations. Small. Get here early.

Arrived on the weekend on a Sunday and had to wait like all places for bunch. Which is fine, but we were not greeted at all when we waited there for 25 mins. Wasn't sure how long the wait would be. The only reason we stayed was because our friends recommend this place. While we were waiting it seemed like the owner had friends that came to visit in which they would sit them before they would it us. Not sure if thy had a reservation or they came and came back because no one spoke to us when we got there to greet us. So from our perspective it seemed like they were being seated before us. After what seemed like forever we were seated. The food was ok. The potatoes tasted like they were sitting there for a long time and by threw it on the grill for maybe 10 seconds to have it a tad warm. Eggs, bacon and toast were good,but nothing better than any other average place. Would not recommend based on the service and the all right food. You will also come out of the restaurant smelling like fried food. You will literally have to wash every layer of clothing. I would just go to the Wellington diner down the street for better food and service.

Such a great breakfast place. First it's really cute inside which is great for brunch. Second the food is amazing and the menu offered so many unique options as well as the traditional brunch fare. I had the Israeli breakfast with shakshuka eggs, gouda, babaganouj, salad and olives and it was a happy introduction to some amazing new foods! Overall great experience at a really pretty new restaurant!

We went to Chesterfield's today with our friend who highly recommends it. We have the Chesterfield Club and Classic eggs Benny. The Benny isn't made with ham but your option of sausage, bacon or avocado. Their hollandaise is absolutely delicious. I just wish their gave more of it! My husband swears by the club and breakfast poutine.

The food was very mediocre. We had the special of the day which was supposed to be a form of egg Benedict but it didn't deliver. The eggs were hard and over cooked, but what was worse was the fact that they were cold. The meat and sauce weren't seasoned and the English muffin was pretty blah. The sides were ok - we tried to chicken curry soup, bakes beans, beers and hash. Nothing to write home about. Overall not worth the wait or the price.

Gluten free options galore! Lovely leek and potato soup, grilled cheese, and beets. Beets could have used more flavour but otherwise a nice meal. Wonderful service and comfortable atmosphere.

The food is great here, the service is really friendly. They got us coffee/water while we were waiting. It's a bit warm inside due to the fact it's small with an open kitchen. It's a busy spot but the food is worth the wait.

Came here for brunch with my friends today. Wasn't too bad. Typical hipster breakfast join. It's small, so don't expect being able to sit more than 4 people at a time. Menu had some interesting options on it. I chose to go with a basic 2 egg breakfast which was affordable and a good value for quality to price. Be warned, It's an open concept kitchen in a small environment, which I wasn't a huge fan of as I found it very stuffy/hot and we really smelt of great kitchen when we left. Overall it was good, but I wouldn't be in a rush to go back. But try it for yourself, like I said, some<br/>Interesting options.

First I have to say that this AMAZING place only got one low review... Everyone else loves this place!!!<br/><br/>Now onto the review. The food is simply amazing. You have to try the every vegetable possible, especially the beets. The staff are helpful and friendly. They help in any way possible to make sure you feel at home and comfortable. The atmosphere is happy and fun. Don't get me started on the dishes lol! Everything is different and you won't see a single matching cup, plate, spoon or fork... Such a great idea :) <br/><br/>Overall this is now my #1 place to go. Selfishly I did not want to write this review since it might help bring awareness on how wonderful this place is making it more popular which in turn will make it hard for me to get a table but they deserve all the praise and 5/5 reviews as possible.<br/><br/>Off to the Chesterfield Dinner I go!

Love this place, been here a few times for breakfast, the decor is really cute, and the menu is awesome. Veggie Benny is so good, and my boyfriend had the Steak Hash, both were perfect and would have again.

Top quality food with a different twist on traditional breakfast. Their menu and decor are original but familiar. Their service is top-notch. Their coffee is strong and their food is delicious and of very high quality. I can't really think of anything I don't like about this place. I try to come early because their seating space is limited so they fill up fast. Worth the wait anyways.

I absolutely love Chesterfield's. Comfortable and friendly with simple, inexpensive, fresh food cooked to order. The coffee is good, all of their soups are out of this world, and they'll happily make any changes or substitutions to the menu to suit your tastes. The grilled cheese with bacon and tomato is my go-to, with a side of chipotle hollandaise for dipping, soup, and either the tomato and cucumber salad, breakfast poutine, or pita chips and babaghanoush, which they make in-house. I haven't tried it but apparently their tourtiere is incredible. Being a new restaurant, they've really listened to what their customers want and have made a few changes to the menu over the last couple of months, they added a new salad as well as offering nine-grain bread with their breakfast combos, and some homemade jams. If you live in the area, they have a takeout breakfast special that includes your morning coffee.

Loved the decor. Food was tasty and prepared quickly. Staff was friendly. Waiter told us all the food is prepared fresh in house without any grease. Neat diner. Will come back again.

Awesome retro diner. Food is fresh and made using a state of the art oven keeping the food healthier than an average diner. Eclectic and funky. I suspect I'll be a regular. Try the veggie Benny with pico salsa and spicy chipotle hollandaise.

My friend and I were really excited to try this place out, as we don't have enough good breakfast places in our area, but we both ended up being disappointed. It was very hot outside (38 with the humidex) and when we walked in, it felt just as hot inside if not worse, as there was no air circulation. We both were sweating just sitting there. Not a good start! We also didn't get any kind of warm greeting, even though the restaurant had just opened a few days ago. We ordered the traditional breakfast and chose the potatoes as a side. We were entitled to two "free" sides, but only two are sides I'd eat for breakfast and I didn't want beans...I was really surprised to find out they don't serve any kind of brown bread! We could only pick from rye (not for breakfast thanks!) or white. I want bread with whole grains in it! The fried eggs were strange..they weren't golden and seemed to have been made with a mould. Neither of us liked the potatoes, which were more like potatoes you'd serve with supper. They were not crispy at all. The waitress was nice, but she didn't bother to ask us why neither of us touched our potatoes (apart from trying one). The decaf coffee tasted watered down and when I asked for jam, I was given Kraft jam...As for fruit, I got a few slices of oranges. Not AT ALL what I'd expect from a place with "gastro" in its name! The decor is cute, but they didn't put their gorgeous wallpaper on correctly though. It's already starting to come off. The menu lacks sweet options too, which is really a shame...I'll be sticking with Baker Street and Art is in I'm afraid!
