The evening didn't start off well. We ordered a white sangria that tasted like it was made with whiskey and it had a crimson colour to it. Clearly it wasn't a "white" sangria. As the server prompted us for our orders, we asked whether, in fact, we received a white sangria as ordered. After we expressed our dissatisfaction, she promptly gathered up the glass and responded that she would have another white sangria prepared. She returned with more suitable beverage.
Next, since it was Wednesday, Wings were 1/2 price. All the posters, menu boards and table menus advertised half price "Wings". How were we supposed to know that didn't include the Duck Wings? We received the bill. Shocked at the charge for two lbs of wings at full price we asked the server to speak with the manager. After we had a brief yet pleasent and respectful conversation with the manager, she acknowledge their error in advertising and applied a discount to the duck wing order. In fact, they credited us the second plate of duck wings delivered that we didn't order, but did eat. The staff treated us with respect and frankly they did the right thing. Incidently, our meals were delicious and the Duck Wings are worth returning for. Thanks db.
Good food. Fun place. The service is 5 Star!!! Our server was Amy and she made sure we had everything we needed and never had to wait! Thank you xo
Excellent service and great breakfast food. I had Eggs Benedict/smoked ham with fried potatoes I had a good visit with new and old friends. Made a new friend with the nice mature gentleman with the grey beard who may have been the manager or owner.
This pub is great!! Filled to the brim, every table full of guest having fun, food, and drink. Other places were turning guest away for capacity issues for covid reasons, but not this place... filled to the brim. The food was ok, but no one cares.. the drinks were coming all evening while live music was playing. Fun place to be at.
Great place for a good meal at a decent price. If you're in the area, stop by and try the deep fried mac and cheese balls. One of the best things I've ever eaten.
I enjoyed an early casual weeknight supper in the comfortable pub environment. My "go to" meal at Deacon Brodies is the Vegetarian Samosa Sandwich with an upgrade to their onion rings and it didn't disappoint. The beer selection was good and I tried a new-to-me beer which I really enjoyed, and the service was friendly.
I like the set up and the kilts. Miss the toy train that used to circle along the ceiling track. Well priced weekend brunch with a big mug of coffee thrown in. Had the egg Benny one week and the Belgian waffles the next week. Both underwhelmed. But great service.
Selection, thats what sets this bar apart from the mass bombardment of generic bars that litter the elgin bar scene. Prices are okay, little overpriced for the product you are getting specially when you compare it to the drinking scene as a big picture.
Flights are something every bar should offer and deacons does it right for people looking to expand their portfolio of what they like and do not.
Live music is a great bonus and the train that used to go around would make me happy. I would love to see a more open concept to the floor layout over the old 90's era cubicle atmosphere.
All in all a good pub that could use a face-lift.
