This was our first time here. You have to go down a set of stairs so I'm not sure if it is wheelchair/ stroller accessible. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. They were missing some of the items in their beer menu due to the pandemic but we still managed to get something unique. Now for the food - the buns were amazing! Loved the Tofu one. I probably could have eaten 3 of those. The squash dumplings have a very unique flavor. I would have preferred a bit more heat and a little less dill/lemon grass. The ramen was not bad but the Eggplant Dan Dan noodles are a game changer. Amazing flavour and the presentation was also bang on. They are not kid friendly so I would recommend the place for a date night.
Had a great night here with a friend! The food was really delicious (especially the Dan Dan noodles) and the plating was very pretty which is always a plus! Our server was also super sweet, funny and helpful!
+ I’ve also tried their crispy chicken bao previously (no picture shown) and the chicken was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! I definitely recommend this item on the menu.
Another amazing meal! We sample different items on the menu every single time and Datsun never disappoints. Consistency is key! Beautifully presented plates, tasty cocktails, fresh, delicious food and friendly service. This is definitely one of our favorite spots in town.
Very nice experience, went on a Saturday night at 8:30pm, place was filled. I do recommend reserving in advance but you can do it on the day of. Food was delicious, portion is on the small side and price a bit on the expensive. Expect to pay around 40$ per person if you want the full experience. Oh, and the music is extremely loud.
Great service and incredible food. The squash dumplings and spicy coconut milk laksa were delicious. Great vibe and tasty cocktails. Would definitely come back again the next time I’m visiting Ottawa.

I really enjoy coming to Datsun on Elgin Street when I'm craving tasty and beautiful dishes. It's always a treat!
This time, here are the dishes I tried:
Pork Belly Bao with cucumber and broad bean sauce ($6.75/each): the pork in this is SO tender, it melts in your mouth. Paired with a white, fluffy bao, this is really satisfying. I wanted to try the Crispy Chicken Bao but they were out, so I'll just have to come back!
Vegan Charred Eggplant Noodles with smoky chili ($16): I'm usually not someone who chooses vegetarian dishes just because I'm a carnivore, but I was feeling experimental and this did not disappoint! The charred eggplant lends a nice richness to the dish which made it feel very satisfying - I didn't miss the meat! If you have any bao pieces leftover, dipping it in the sauce for this dish is so good!
Lastly, I always want to get a "pretty" dish, and I LOVE anything scallop, so I had to try their scallop crudo with coconut, strawberries, and chilies! When I first saw this on their Instagram page, I knew I HAD to get it - I'm a sucker for pretty dishes. The scallops were super fresh, and I LOVE anything coconut, so I really enjoyed the richness in this dish - paired with the hint of heat from the chilies, each bite was quite the experience, and definitely memorable.
Of course, you can't indulge without dessert! I've always seen their Eton Mess on other people's pages so I had to try it. Theirs comes with passionfruit curd, local strawberries, and lime leaf! This was delightfully refreshing and light, truly a great way to end your meal. Just be sure to mix it up well, as I think the salt was all at the top, which was a surprise at first!
Presentation of the ramen was super, it was laksa seafood fusion. The pork belly bao was delicious. Eggplant Dan Dan noodle was good. No complaints on service or food just no WOW, menu overpriced and format of the menu was confusing.
