My wife, my father in law and myself were there today to celebrate my father's in law 84 th birthday. We have been welcomed like family. The 2 hosts are very friendly and prepare an excellent Eastern European menu that includes the following dishes which we tried and enjoyed: the best schnitzels on this part of the ocean, not to say the pirogies, the spatzles, the chicken paprikash and the great sides: beet salad, caramelized onions, sautéed red cabbage. The bistro seats about 12 around 3 counters, but if one prefers, food can be boxed for take out. The 3 of us highly recommend this little jewel of restaurant on Innes road where genuine Hungarian and Polish dishes will delight everyone.

The Duna Bistro is a very welcome addition to our little community here in Blackburn Hamlet. The cooking is very tasty, the helpings generous and the prices reasonable. They have a very fine regular menu starring their featured schnitzel, of course, but also with regular Polish style pierogies, a smaller Russian variety ('pelmeni'), Hungarian goulash, cabbage rolls, bigos, plus side dishes of pureed beets, sauerkraut and so on. Especially the owners go in for very interesting special dinners, including main dish, sides, soup, salad and dessert. We were enticed in the first place by their Christmas/New Year's roast duck dinner. The duck was terrific, and came with chestnut stuffing, red cabbage mashed potatoes with caramalized onions, etc. Then we tried their lovers' themed Valentine's Day dinner with quail, and more recently the Easter roasted boneless leg of lamb, served with an extremely good roasted melange of root vegetables, a couple of salads, soup and dessert.

I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Everything about it is perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was perfect. We had schnitzel, it came with spätzle, sauerkraut with bacon, mashed potatoes, cucumber salad. Don't even get me started on the homemade sodas. My husband and I will be going back to try everything on the menu because it's nearly impossible to choose what looks best. Definitely worth a visit - or 10.

The food is amazing . it was my first time there and it will not be my last. The schnitzel is ridiculously big, it could feed 3 peoples. The perogies, the spatzel, the braised red cabbage.....mmmmmm. The server was alone, very nice lady, I gave her a big tip. FYI they don't have a liquor license. I already know what I will order when I go back 😅🤤

What a nice dining experience. The hostess/waitress was delightful. Very friendly and welcoming. Delicious menu - made it difficult to choose. All the portions were generous and tasted very good. I thought the beet and cucumber salads we’re especially good. We had dessert - also outstanding. Chef came out to say hello. Highly recommend.

Totally worth the 5 stars! Had schnitzel, goulash, some kind of pasta and Dimsum looking things. Savory, tasty, unique flavors...love it

Being as a German almost a natural connaisseur of Schnitzel and Spätzle, I can only recommend this place. You could truly see that its chef, Paul, lived in Central Europe and strives to create a honest, traditional, culinary experience. Not only the restaurant's food, but its warm-hearted staff and its romantic-elegant furniture rounded up by classical music teleport you to somewhere between Austria, Germany and Hungary. By the way, you should not miss the multi-layered honey cake called Medovik - yuumm....

Food was amazing! We ordered the schnitzel and it was so delicious. Also, they’re huge! 1 schnitzel can easily feed 2 people. Everything we ordered was super fresh. The people who work there are really nice. They answered our questions and helped with the menu. Absolutely will be ordering here a lot!!

Loved our meal here. We did take away, they prepared our meal very fast, which was great because the smells in this restaurant made us so hungry! We got the minced pork perogies and schnitzel with a side of spaetzle and braised red cabbage! Massive portions! The schnitzel was so thin and tender, next time we'll get a spaetzle as a main course rather than a side, it was delicious. Everything was so fresh and tasty and the owners are very kind. We will certainly be back!!

Came here after a recommendation from a friend. Hostess/ waitress was super kind and attended to all my needs. I’ve had the Pirogies, schnitzel with spatzle and red cabbage salad. All the food was beyond my expectations. Food was cooked to perfection and was all made with excellent quality. I believe most if not all of the food was homemade and taste excellent. Portion sizes were very generous. For dessert I’ve had the cake, which was a layer cake which tasted of honey. I was told the cake was also homemade and the taste reflected that. After dinner was over, i was greeted by the chef who I passed my compliments to. I am a big fan of this small restaurant and can’t believe I’ve never heard of it before. I will definitely be telling my family and friends of this gem and will be coming again very shortly .
