Incredible sports atmopshere with excellent food and service. Right in the centre of the market, there is no better place to catch a big game; particularly a sens playoff game. Without a doubt one of the top venues in Ottawa
First time there last night and have to say I would highly recommend this place! Both food and service were great, wonderful friendly atmosphere! And the home team won against Boston! Great night out, will definitely stop in again!
We only stayed for a few drinks but their drink menu was excellent. They had a great selection of wines and well priced drinks. We did enjoy the patio and ordered some nachos which were well cooked but then again it’s hard to mess up nachos so I’m not sure how the rest of the menu is. The service was very friendly and fast. Overall good experience.
I have eaten at this place twice and very pleased with the food I ate. I first ordered the buffalo chicken wraps, which I very very spicy, a little too much for me to handle. The second time I got the bbq burger which was a great choice too
Best sports bar in the city by far. Perfect feel and the food is way better than what you'd expect at your average sports bar. Try the fish and chips or the peanut butter burger. Two of my favourites.
Typical bar food, small town sports bar vibe. Ottawa needs more places like these and less generic sports bars like boston pizza. Had a burger and beer and was happy with it.
This is my favourite spot to watch a game in Ottawa. Not as busy or overpriced as Real Sports. As a Jays fan, I love the fact that they play all the Jays games and many of the patrons are regulars and true blue fans. The food is decent for pub fare and the prices are modest. My only complaint is that it's a little small and the set-up is not conducive to large crowds which can make watching a big game problematic if the place gets busy. I suggest coming in early if there's a hot game on.
I moved to Ottawa about a year ago and live close to the market. I regret not finding this place sooner. I've visited a lot of the pubs in the area and this one is at the top of my list. The decor is warm and inviting, the service is incredible and the food is much much much better than the standard pub fair. You can tell they take pride in their menu. The coca cola candied ribs are a must try. Can't wait to take a crack at the turducken !!

First time, It won't be the last.. I had to show a friend around town and we decided to eat somewhere in the Market in the evening and The Senate was definitely the right choice!
The staff were great, especially over the phone when I called in to make a reservation.
But the most impressive part about The Senate is its perfect combination of atmosphere and food. My friend and I love how cozy the place felt, a perfect balance between privacy and openness (especially for game nights). I ordered the Turducken sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. Perfect seasoning, nice texture and generous portion size. The fries were perfect as well, not too salty. My friend ordered the Pea-Nut Butter & Bacon with Apple Slaw and she really enjoyed it. An eye-opening combination for people who have been shy to try something new.
Overall, I am very pleased with the food and atmosphere of The Senate. With its friendly staff, delicious food and generous portion size (for a very reasonable price), I will gladly bring all of my friends here.
Just what I needed!. I went on my birthday in December, it wasn't a Sens game night so it was pretty quiet. I was very excited to see that I could get Granville Island (Vancouver) beer, always a treat when I see it on a menu. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and it was perfect! The bun was only lightly toasted on the inside, so it was actually nice and soft. Exactly how I like it. What I loved most about my meal is that it didn't come with half a plate of fries. Instead of all fries I got a portion of fresh salad with tasty dressing and a portion of fresh cut fries. I was very pleased, and would recommended to anyone!

Been a loyal customer on a regular basis. Excellent food, fantastic friendliness, beautiful servers always impressed. Owners are fantastic and I will miss when I leave Ottawa.
