Our server Bryan on Friday the 16th was the highlight of the night. We don't usually go to dinner at places like this (mass produced food), but we had a $100 gift card from x-mas. Got a striploin, and a tenderloin which were both cooked to a perfect medium rare (tenderloin was thick, impressive cook). Most steaks taste the same at any steakhouse, and nothing you can't replicate at home with a decent cut from Costco. Our Mushroom/Crab app was pretty gross, and it felt like we were at a cheap streak restaurant. With $100 gift Card dinner/wine/tip only cost us $90 for the night....pretty cheap date night.
Amazing steak and service. Had the baseball top sirloin rare and it was to die for. There was a small bit of fat on the side, the meat was super tender and was packed with flavour. Got a reservation for 12 a week before.
Very hard to find a fault with our dining experience. Perfectly cooked thick cut steak, gorgeous fluffy garlic potatoes with chunks of skin a great texture. The peppercorn sauce was flavourful but not overpowering.
Service was perfect.
The billy pie dessert was simply to die for, a nice refreshing end to the meal.
Very satisfying meal.
This is fine dining done well.
Not pretentious, just great food and great service.
Enjoy!
Always a pleasant evening out at any keg restaurant. This location definitely has a unique charm to it.
Service was excellent and my steak was cooked to perfection, exactly what you would want out of a steakhouse. The billy minor pie for dessert is a must! A bit pricey but very much worth it. Will be back again!
Came here on a Saturday night, needed reservations well in advance to secure a time slot we wanted (1wk heads up). They were courteous enough to ask if stairs would be a problem for accessibility for guests during the phone call.
We had amazing seats immediately by the wood burning fireplace, so cozy and romantic.
Their complimentary bread was delicious! Served just slightly warm in the centre when you break into it.
We ordered a red blend wine, Inception from South Africa. We shared the Brie appetizer, came with a delicious pesto, red pepper jelly and crostini. We both had steak, one of us had the blue cheese crusted bacon wrapped filet with roasted garlic on top. The other had the basic filet mignon with this béarnaise sauce (I attached a photo of the steak options) & a side of bacon garlic mashed potatoes. We both got our steaks medium rare and it was grilled just right. As some places have their own take on how steaks can be done, they had descriptors on the back of the menu between blue and well done. Meat was so tender and amazing flavors. Super impressed!
The Keg on Richmond Road makes the best (and most expensive!) steak I have ever had in Ottawa. Remarkable quality and service, and the garden outside is beautiful when the weather is nice. If you can fork over the money it is worth every penny. Only negatives are the price (though it reflects the quality accurately) and the general need to make reservations as it gets quite busy.
If I want to go somewhere for a special occasion, or I want a great steak, this is where I go. You probably need reservations, so keep that in mind.
The service has never been anything less than stellar. My steaks have always been cooked exactly how I ask for them.
The Keg is usually good for quality, but this location specifically has consistently been far superior to any other Keg location I've been to. I don't even typically bother going to any other Keg location in Ottawa anymore, this place just out-shines them all in terms of quality & service.
Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience! The location is a beautiful old house wonderfully redone, and the service was great. Steaks were all cooked perfectly, sides were delicious. The staff were very accommodating to someone at our table with a bad allergy to citrus, and made sure that no citrus entered the room that we were in. The one downfall was someone found a hair on the side of their plate - we alerted the staff, who were extremely embarrassed, and remedied the situation by offering a new meal, a free dessert, and taking the most expensive meal off of the bill.
Celebrated a birthday, table of 7. Food is consistently delicious. Rare rib steak was huge and melted in my mouth. The crab cakes were equally as delicious with almost no filler at all. Yum!
I prefer the old style of the manor to the franchise style Keg.
LOVE IT...My wife and I have been to the manor a few times and enjoyed the food and atmosphere.. We like it so much that we had our wedding reception there.. I was a little apprehensive that having to cook so many meals for everyone something would get messed up.. But no.. Everyone was very happy with their meal and the staff was great. The other bonus is that the keg does not add a mandatory gratuity charge for a large party. The manager said he wanted to give his staff the opportunity to let us decide how much we wanted to tip. They did a great job.. Love this place!!!
