spectacular experience with Tom and Olivia this evening! they were amazing from start to finish. the drinks were wonderful (drank my Tickle Me Pink too fast to take a picture but it was delicious - Tom recommended it and it rocked!) food was out of this world. they do steak like no one else, cooked to perfection, tender, flavourful, all around fantastic. the tartare….. y’all…….. delish. the fries with the steak frites are so delightful, little shoestring fries with truffle oil and lots of parm🤤 we will absolutely be returning!

I'm no expert for restaurants but in my opinion the steak was quite small (for $35 portion), meat was very hard to chew and I found a hair in my meat. My wife had the same and besides for the size she was happy with hers. I didn't ask for any kind of deduction or anything but I did point it out to the waitress. It looks very nice, and taste is ok.

Wow. What an absolutely incredible meal. Extravagant from tip to tail. The seafood platter was delightful with an amazing tomahawk steak on the side. I’m not eating for weeks after this. Staff was friendly and helpful, everything top notch. If you’re looking for an amazing night out in Ottawa, this is the place, without a doubt.

Delicious food, cozy and upscale atmosphere, nice mixed crowd. The cocktails were top notch! Our server was amazing and we truly had a great time. Try the oysters! So tasty.

Good steaks, good cocktail and very pleasant staff, all in a modern yet cozy room. All the side dishes were excellent. Tried all six on the menu. The peppercorn sauce was a bit thin but tasty. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the meals.

The food was absolutely delicious, presented beautifully, great portions, fast service, and our server Tom was superb. Definitely highly recommend to anyone visiting the market.

There was no soup on the menu. Really disappointing for that caliber of restaurant. The lamb shank we ordered was good overall, the meat was really nice and falling off the bone. The service was good and the caramel cheesecake was amazing!

Great steaks and beef dinners. Location is excellent. Right in the Marketplace. Desserts were to die for. I would avoid the Lobster Poutine.$$$

Absolutely top shelf food along with great service. Aye here a couple of times a week for a few months. Steak was amazing, though the seem to be a little off how you order it cooked. But the quality of the meat was excellent, tasted like fine aged steaks I have had elsewhere and I would say the best in town next to grill 41. But the prime rib sandwich was also just a superb treat for lunch several times. Nice outdoor seating and good ambiance inside.

Having visited with my daughter in Ottawa recently I had the pleasure of dining at Luxe Bistro. We were treated like royalty by our server Elizabeth. The food was incredible so a big thank you to the chef/s. We also had the pleasure of dealing with the manageress Brittany, both Elizabeth and Brittany made our visit very memorable and enjoyable. Outstanding staff and amazing food in a great location. I loved Luxe so much that as a family we are travelling from Toronto back to Ottawa and Luxe Bistro for the purpose of having my Birthday Dinner. I could not wish for a better treat than looking forward to eating there again.The reservation is already made and I just can't wait.

Splendid food. The calamari are simply the best, The wedge salad and lobster poutine rounded out a sumptuous feast for two. And, of course, the service is attentive, cordial and classy. The manager is always about to check on the satisfaction of his customers. Our favorite Bistro in Ottawa!

Amazing food! Friendly staff! Great atmosphere! A must visit while in the Ottawa Byward Market, especially on Tuesday for complimentary oysters!

This was a second visit with out-of-town family members. Our server, Nick, knew the menu thoroughly and made excellent recommendations in response to our questions. All of the dishes were terrific, as they were on our first visit. The chef is highly skilled at getting the temperatures of steaks exactly as customers request. This restaurant has become one of my first choices for entertaining guests.

Came here for lunch, and ordered the 14oz boneless rib steak with Mac & cheese.<br/><br/>The steak was cooked perfectly rare as requested, and had a phenomenal sear. Very delicious. The mac and cheese could have used a touch more sauce, but was still quite good.<br/><br/>It was incredibly hot outside, and unfortunately it didn't appear that they had air conditioning. However, the staff was very attentive with refilling water, and ensuring everything was great. Service was definitely on point.<br/><br/>The price is on the high side, but given this is a higher end place, it was expected, and it was one of the best steaks I've had in a restaurant, so I believe it was worth it. Would recommend if you're looking for a nice meal out for a special occasion.

Lunch on the deck, couple of good Caesars, Crispy Chicken Burger and the Surf & Turf Burger - pricey, messy but sooo good. Frites are addicting, service was excellent.

Came here with my co-workers for lunch and it was a wonderful experience! The service was very friendly, although it was a bit slow even though the restaurant was still empty when we arrived. The food was delicious! I had the seared scallops with sweet potato risotto, apples and pomegranate. It was an interesting combination of flavours and the pomegranate added a nice taste that balanced the creamy risotto. Loved it! My co-workers seemed quite impressed with their stroganoff and steak tartate as well so I'll definitely be trying those next time!

I started coming here when one of my favorite places to get brunch stopped serving it. So on my quest to fine a good place for Eggs Benny... well not only did I find a good place it is lick your plate worthy every time I come. My old place brought back their brunch but I much prefer brunch here. I will make a point to try dinner. My only complaint is their coffee mugs are so small that the coffee gets cold really quick, although they are really good about coming by to top up the coffee. Wonder if they would let me bring my own mug?

It was my first time at this location. Absolutely amazing service. I ordered the roasted Bone Marrow to start. I was a little disappointed in it. It is a $16 for very little to eat. The main of roasted lamb was cooked perfectly and very delicious. I will definitely be returning here. A must try for sure.

I've eaten at a lot of places and I wouldn't go back to Luxe. Pros: ambience, service (our waitress was so nice) and the steak and lobster poutine we ordered were all great. <br/>Cons: everything else we ordered, the wine tasted a little rancid, burgers were inedible, and fish tacos tasted more like fried mush and nothing like fish. We struggled to finish the meals and just gave up after a while. To their credit, they took the food we hated off the bill but I'm just disappointed because, given the price, I would have hoped for much better food. Sorry Luxe, you have to do better!!

I've been here twice! For lunch in Canada day, and for breakfast this morning! Both times have been amazing , even on a busy day like Canada day.

Came here Nov 1st for a friends engagement dinner. Amazing venue for the 40-50 of us that were there!<br/><br/>Super fun. Loved the style of the restaurant. The food was amazing, I had the soup, and the main (gnocchi) that's in the picture. <br/><br/>Would come back.

Decor is very nice. Bar area is pleasant in the morning sun for a brunch. Service was good but the classic breakfast was below average. Fruit was a small quantity and in sorry shape. Over priced for what you get. They need to STOP making smoothies at the bar. The blender sounds like a jet engine, very noisy.<br/>

Although tiny, the Luxe Bistro patio is the perfect ambiance for lunch on a Summer afternoon in Ottawa's Byward Market. Burgers & Frites are my usual go-to, however I recently decided to give their beef tartare a try and I was not disappointed.

I'll be honest. I'm not a huge breakfast food person but there's something about any Eggs Benedict that makes waking up early that much easier. I ordered the Fancy Luxe Benedict: lobster, asparagus, hollandaise, and chives. It's essential to get all the elements of the Benny on your fork for each and every bite. This combination was delicious, though I wouldn't mind a slightly richer hollandaise as this one was thin and light. Still yummy. The baked beans were tender and sweet. Benny, Benny, Benny!

I'm not exactly sure why the ratings are low. The server was very friendly, but more importantly, attentive. The place was packed, and everyone seemed quite happy. <br/><br/>The food: fish tacos - excellent, perfect crispness complemented by fresh cilantro and pickled veg. <br/><br/>A rueben! That's right a designer Reuben. I loves me some smoked meat and have had a lot. The in house made smoked meat absolutely melted in your mouth, literally. Time was taken on this usually simplistic item. The cheese was properly warm and melted to complement the warm meat, topped by toasted but fresh as hell Rideau bakery rye. All in all, it crushes any Montreal smoked meat. <br/><br/>Decent beer on tap, although it is a shame that they opted for beer from BC, and dropped some locals. <br/><br/>I shall return.

Luxe is a steakhouse located in the ByWard Market in Ottawa. Not too long ago, the restaurant implemented a brunch menu available only on the weekends. I usually do some research about a restaurant before going. Luxe has an extensive yet attractive brunch menu. Some items are classics, some are innovative - steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, breakfast poutine. There is definitely something for everyone.  I opted for the lobster egg benedict with a side of latkes. It comes with two perfectly poached eggs, buttery lobster chunks, crisp asparagus, velvelty hollandaise sauce served over toasted English muffins. The potato hash was a bit of disappointment. As you can see in the picture, you will notice a few burnt strands of potatoes that give an unpleasant bitter taste when eating it. However, the potato latkes are amazing. They are soft and pillowy. The taste of potatoes is noticeable. I don't know much good brunch spot around the ByWard market. Luxe is a definitely worth a visit. Pleasantly surprised, even impressed. Although there were mixed reviews on Urban Spoon, my husband and I took a chance on this restaurant, which has always intrigued us. This led to a lovely date last night. <br/><br/>We called to make a last minute reservation and the gentleman on the phone was pleasant and helpful. Walking in about 30 mins later we were greeted by friendly staff who had our reservation info and immediately sat us at a nice table by a window. The atmosphore was perfect for us, with dimmed lights, music at the correct volume level and classy decor. <br/><br/>We were promptly greeted by our waitress who was very friendly, professional, knowledgable and who had a great smile all evening. She took our drink orders and let us know about the specials. Our drinks were delivered fairly quickly along with some delicious warm bread. <br/><br/>My husband ordered the lobster burger with fries and I had a tomato and beet salad. My husband was very happy with his burger. He was impressed that there was no actual beef patty but in fact there was a large amount of lobster (approx quantity you would get in a tail), and all this for only $20. His fries were perfection. Thin, crispy with a delicious dipping sauce. My tomato and beet salad was presented beautifully, was fresh and flavorful with the perfect amount of dressing. I will say that on first look I thought the portion looked a bit small but after finishing it, I determined it was the perfect amount for me. If my husband had ordered it I think he would still have been hungry though. Having been said that, we hadn't ordered appetizers. <br/><br/>Throughout our dining experience, our waitress continued to impress us and part way through our meal a gentleman, who I will assume was a manager or owner type, came to ask how things were. We saw him doing this with all the other patrons as the evening went on. He too was friendly, professional and all smiles. <br/><br/>All in all we had no complaints and were in fact pleasantly surprised. I re-read some of the negative reviews and they definitely have no basis in comparison with our own experience. <br/><br/>We will most definitely be coming back. I have my eye on the steak salad or the slow cooked lamb for next time.

Breakfast til 2? Yes sir!. Great breakfast choices, just be careful of the $2 charge for maple syrup! Just go a few feet over to the kiosk and purchase your own lol<br/>Other than that, it was pretty good!

Very underwhelming. Though the table across from us was having grilled cheese and fries and that looked pretty good.

Best Service. I had my first meal at Luxe bistro a couple of years ago and my family has been returning there for special occasions ever since. We have never had a single bad experience with the food or service. Just last week we dined for our grandmother's 75th birthday and she was treated like royalty: the waitress even brought out a huge beautiful dessert that was enough for the four of us to share.<br/>Thanks Luxe for helping us celebrate!

Ria is the reason I will come back - today I had not as nice of an experience in terms of dinner but Ria made my night. My girlfriend and I will always come back to Luxe - as long as Ria is working. A friend and I shared the fish tacos for an appetizer and they were fantastic. We then decided to also split our entrees to try more of the food. We had the southern burger (with avocado and jalapeños) and the seared tuna burger. This was honestly the best meal (or meals, rather) I have had in ages. The tuna was perfect and tender, the flavours were perfect in all of our dishes, and the wine list definitely made me smile! I had amazing service, amazing food, in a great atmosphere, and I can't stop raving about it! I recommend this place to anyone who appreciates great food and service.

Let down. I came here with high expectations since several co-workers said this was a nice restaurant. I thought it was one of the more 'high end' restaurants in Byward Market. Boy was I wrong. The atmosphere is nice enough, but tables are crowded very close to one another. People wear jeans and bring their small children. The food is kind of funny. I ordered a steak for $39 and well... that's all I got on my plate. A tiny little steak LOL. I would never go back because of the atmosphere and how much you have to pay for a full plate of food.

Ate here on the long weekend, and unortunately had to sit near the window so got eaten alive by Mosquitos. Our server was great with recommendations, he did forget our bread but the place was packed out. Overall lovely venue and definitely quality over quantity food, 80%

Went for a birthday dinner and was so underwhelmed by the menu and the atmosphere that we left after drinks. The music was way too loud and not appropriate for the setting -felt like it was revving up for a night of clubbing, not an evening of dining. The one plus was that our server was wonderful, I wish we could have taken him to the restaurant we did have dinner at. I'm so tired of NY steak!!!

The best !!!. I can say that a lot of love and passion for excellence goes on behind the scenes. The food is handled with some of the most care and precision I have seen. The chef emphasizes quality and professionalism in every aspect, which is something I have found very lacking in the Ottawa food scene. Greatly disappointed. Overpriced. Food is just average. Service is not friendly. Even our reservation for 4 had not been written down, and even though the restaurant was nearly empty it seemed to be very hard for the staff to allow us to sit at a table. Will definitely NOT go back.

I am quite a picky customer and I was really impressed. I had the the Steak Frites and it was a delicious piece of meat, cooked exactly as I asked it! Price was reasonnable too.

Great Experience!. We're from Toronto and visited on a Sat. night. Made an 8pm reservation and were promptly sat once we walked in. We ordered a bottle of malbec, 2 appetizers, and 2 main courses, total was $120 without the tip. I had the grilled chicken, and my girlfriend had their vegetarian option... we were both impressed with their portions as well as presentations. Just an overall great experience. A little crowwded, but all restaurants in the market are, resommend reserving a booth if you can.<br/>If we don't get the bottle of wine at $47 (one of the cheaper options as well) our bill is well under $100 and still incredibly worth it. Great job from the hostess, the servers, and the kitchen! Not sure how or why someone could be dissapointed with this place, if you want to spend less than $50, go to a burger joint and save the misleading negative reviews.

Don't know where the criticism are coming from. My wife and I ate at Luxe and we found the food and service to be exceptional. Our only problem was that we couldn't eat more! I fully recommend Luxe Bistro.

Terrible service. We sneer at Luxe whenever we walk by. Yes, that bad.<br/><br/>Apparently, deciding not to have an aperatif is a sign that we're cheap dinner guests, so the servers can ignore us and treat us disdainfully when they do happen by. Too bad for them we were a pair of professionals celebrating a birthday and just didn't feel like the extra drink -- could have been a good tip. Too bad for us we decided to go there in the first place.

Amazing ByWard Market Restaurant Experience!. I went to Luxe Bistro for the first time on Friday night and I loved everything about it!<br/>Not only is the extensive wine list extremely impressive; but also the food was delicious.<br/>My boyfriend and I both ordered the 10oz Steak with smoked shallot butter, served with Luxe frites and chive aioli; and for dessert we shared the Chocolate peanut butter mousse with a caramel filled chocolate shell, it was mouth-wateringly good.<br/>I can't wait to go back and try the Lobster Poutine, which our server also recommended as being one of their most popular items on the menu.

Been here twice and each time the steak was way over cooked. Had the steak Oscar and they covered it in sauce that was ice cold making everything else on the plate cold. Overall over priced, not great service and poor quality coming out of the kitchen.

Here is the thing. I went once and I remember that it wasn't bad food, service ok. It lack something or it pretent to be something. Would i go back? No. But I could be wrong. At your own risk or should I say that I am on the fence.

We were here the last time we were in Ottawa, and it was wonderful. Hoping to repeat the experience, we were back this week, and very disappointed. APPETIZERS: My scallops were very good, my husband says the soup was very bland. MAIN: my duck leg was extremely overcooked, but everything else on the plate was warm (at best). My husband's steak was tough and the rest of his meal was cold. We did complain to the manager and were offered replacements, but declined - it was too disheartening. Such a disappontment.

Great experiences over and over.... I have been to Luxe Bistro several times with my friends, yet to find a reason to dislike it. Each time, I was adventurous and tried a different dish off the menu. Although I don't treat myself to red meat often, I have to admit, the steak was the best I have ever tasted! I'm a seafood buff, and the fish and seafood I have tasted has been delish!<br/>My friends had the same experience as me, lots to choose from, and really yummy.<br/><br/>The service has been impeccable. The servers were very helpful in choosing the correct wine for my meals, keeping my price range in mind. And the Luxe Martini's…addictive! <br/><br/>This is one restaurant where you leave feeling that life is good!

Excellence. I have been to Lux three times to date, each time was wonderful. Twice was for a simple lunch and last and most anticipated was dinner. <br/><br/>We tried crabcakes and the scallops apps both were a taste sensation, the scallops were a slight favorite if I only was going to have one.<br/><br/>My date had a daily special and loved every bite, I had one of the fish off the main menu and it was sublime.<br/><br/>We were there on a Sunday and little bonus 20% discount on wine so we had a couple of nice bottles. Service was perfect, we never had to touch a wine bottle and not till the end was our glass ever empty.<br/><br/>100% recommend..<br/><br/>PS: The Fries are fantastic.

Not for the price. I have heard good things about this restaurant but was disappointed. Food was good though... I think the place needs a make over. Seems a bit old fashioned to me. There was a bunch of the restaurant staff sharing food out of some guy's plate wasn't pleasant to watch while I was waiting for my food. For the price, I should expect more.

We've had consistently good food. We've eaten here several times lately and the food is always good. We had the filet minon steak and frites which was delicious. Their specials are good too. The service is helpful without being intrusive. We'll go back.

Took 1.5 hours to get our salads with a half empty restaurant. Food was okay but not exactly hot. Coffee was weak. Better places to eat in Ottawa for the price now. Used to be excellent.

I only recently found out they do brunch, and it was delicious. I’m a huge eggs benedict fan, and they had lobster eggs benny – this east coaster was sold.

Luxe Bistro is a nicely appointed and comfortable place and, all in all, I had a very pleasant evening there. My steak was not very good, and the sides mediocre, but, given the excellent oysters and the top-notch service, I am inclined to put that down as just an unfortunate ‘accident’ and not reflective of the general quality of the establishment. I will go there again.

Located in the Byward Market, Luxe styles itself as a blend of Steakhouse and French Style Bistro. In my opinion, it is neither, especially not at lunch. Luxe does offer 6 different cuts of beef on its dinner menu, with an interesting selection of sauces and side dishes. But at lunch time, the selection is reduced to two very specific cuts (...) Overall, for $20, le Steak-Frites de Luxe was a good choice. We both enjoyed our meat and, also importantly, the service, which was efficient and courteous.
