Update: Sara was extremely fast in responding and kindly offered to replace the beans, recommending a different roast as oil does seem to be characteristic of their darker roasts. The new beans arrived promptly with dates of roast on them. Only tried the Mexico Chiapas for now - the beans were indeed less oily and they were easy to grind. The notes could be stronger but I think I need to adjust my grind size to achieve that! Appreciate that Sara was very respectful and I can say that she truly values customer satisfaction and stands behind her products - which is a rare find these days. Thank you and keep up the great work :) Can't wait to try the Jitterbug roast and update on here.
Was gifted 2 bags of beans - one dark roast and one medium roast. Both were extremely oily to the point where I am unsure if grinding them will damage my grinder. The oil residue left behind in the bag is very apparent. I had reached out to see if it was normal as oily beans are usually an indication that the beans were over roasted or sat on the shelf for too long. Both bags do not have any dates indicating when they were roasted as most roasters have so I could not confirm the shelf life of them. I did not receive any reply despite sending photos and asking. Delivery option they have is nice but still unsure about product quality.
We moved to Okotoks last year and we’re looking for a local coffee roaster to support. We LOVE Rebel! We have enjoyed many of the roasts, tried several different brewing methods, and enjoyed them all. Dr. says I have to “lay off the coffee for my heart”, so I have found the perfect medium with their Half Caff, Afternoon delight! Love it anytime of the day. And their local free delivery in town is amazing!! Thanks Rebel Crew!!
LOVE Rebel Bean Coffee! Been enjoying Rebel Bean coffee every morning for years now. Jitterbug (med roast) and Rumble in the Old Town (dark roast) are the favourites in our house. LOCAL, AMAZING and FRIENDLY service. Make a note in your calendar to snag one of the Coffee Advent Calendars! Totally worth it - every day you learn the back story on the coffee you are drinking... so much fun.
I love coffee! It is hard to imagine as it was a different time, but my Mom used to give me a cup of coffee when she had guests. It was a small cup and had lots of milk but nonetheless, I have been drinking coffee for over 6 decades!! In Panama, I had the pleasure with meeting a woman who judges coffee yearly for international coffee producers. She taught me how to best brew & test coffee. Did I mention I love coffee? This Christmas my daughter gave me coffee from Rebel Bean. I absolutely LOVE the Christmas Blend. It is rich and flavourful. It is consistently a GREAT cup coffee. You know the one where you take a sip and you say to yourself, "Mmm, this is is a good cup of coffee." Yup, that's how I feel about this coffee. I just wish I didn't have to wait til next Dec.
