Review Piazza Bistro - Oakville

Linda Thompson
This little spot in the square of downtown Oakville is good for a quick, easy going lunch. It is a casual setting and would also work for a family dinner. The Caesar salad dressing was light but had a nice amount of garlic. It is dressed as a vinaigrette. It comes loaded with parmesan cheese. The pizza was served at the same time as our salad so it was cold when we got to it. They reheated it for us no problem. 🙌 One of us loved the dessert - One didn’t so I guess we have to go back to try again! 😀 They have a plant based menu! ✅ More content on Instagram @linreviews

The mushroom arancini is reason enough to try this place. Cozy little restaurant in Oakville, I have nothing bad to say. The grilled calamari, the focaccia and olive oil, the tiramisu; I loved it all. It’s a must-try and I will be back.

Excellent food. Great location and management. We had the risotto and veal special. Top notch. Great taste and solid portions. Live music was a nice touch. Excellent value. Good for any occasion. Holds its own against anything in Oakville.

We had the most AMAZING dinner!!! We started with the fresh burrata with crispy prosciutto and grilled focaccia - I have never had something SO delicious!! Then had the beet salad - delish! But ordered the “spaghetti and meatballs” the purist of the pure! It was UNBELIEVABLE!!!! The chef knows Italian!!!! And the servers were amazing!!!!! Thank you.. thank you!!!

This little bistro is so cute both winter and Summer, lunch and dinner. food is mastered, I tried main course, pasta and I vote they have one of the best pizza in Oakville, all made from scratch, staff were pleasant all the times I visited. Owner on top of details.

First time. Service 1/5. My wife and l sat for over 20 min without a service. Extremely slow in taking the order and getting the order. Or even checking if we needed something else. Food 4/5 This would be my first and last The poor service was the deal breaker for me.

A lovely bit of Europe in the heart of downtown Oakville. Wonderful food, exceptional service and a great atmosphere. Kirsten, the proprietor is personable, knowledgeable and always ensures everyone has a good time!

Made reservations for 5 people Saturday night (yesterday). Table was ready, hostess and waitress were extremely friendly and polite. Started with good appetizers: PEI Mussles in a tomato broth, the best grilled calamari we've tasted at a restaurant in years, and a decent Salumi platter. Good wine selection at usual restaurant prices, we ordered a bottle of Ripasso Valpolicella ($50). Dinner was a mix: Pesto Pizza (smallish in size, wood fired, thin, good amount of toppings, excellent value at $17); Risotto with crab, leek, and corn (daily special) was out of this world and decently priced at $22; and healthy portions of meat lasagna and gnocchi that my Italian mother would not complain about. For dessert we opted to visit the restaurant's adjacent coffee/gelato bar and grab coffee and gelato to go and enjoyed the sitting in the small park square outside the restaurant. I wish the gelato was home made there, but it was decent just the same. This restaurant gets overshadowed by the larger hipster pizza place across the street (where I've eaten many times) but with the option for reservations, very friendly staff, great menu options, decent outdoor patio, and much better value, I'd recommend it any day when in downtown Oakville. it offers high quality food, decent portions, reasonable (not cheap), excellent service. I'll be back.

The food was real good, so I didn't mind paying the price to dine there. I was surprised that a pizza place could have such a great ambience along with great food and service. Our server Guisseppe was excellent. My wife and I will definitely return. Excellent place to impress your date.

Stopped to have gelato and drinks ($30)...while I went to the ladies' room, they told my daughters that they needed the table for other people (no one was waiting) and made them take all of our things (purchases from our day downtown, thus far) out. I was looking at the menu to come back for dinner but decided against it when I saw this had happened.

Absolutely disgusted with how you treated my family at this restaurant. Racism? Anti-children? What is it ?? Disgusted.

What a horrible, horrible owner. We stood waiting to be seated for ten minutes while he stood there watching us. When I asked, "Are you the owner?" he gave us a "down the bridge of his nose" look and asked us where we wanted to be seated. We said the patio and he said, "If you just want drinks, go in to drink at the bar." He said outside seating was just for dinner guests (it was 11pm and there were people outside just drinking as well as empty tables...). I said I would be taking my business elsewhere and he laughed and said, "okay." We were then made aware that he only caters to the "rich Oakville" crowd, and I suppose a young looking individual like myself doesn't scream "money"... You should never make assumptions about an individual, especially people who want to give you their money. Don't you know that? But here's something in Italian you'll definitely understand: malocchio a vostro pezzo di spazzatura ristorante.

The best. Thanks again Piazza. You never fail.

Hi

We were a party of four with an 8 month old baby at lunch today.

We were somewhat surprised to find out that the servers were not wearing masks. When we requested they do so, the answer given was that "we wear them indoors at the kitchen". Well, that's a relief!! I'm sure the customers appreciate the fact that the Chef is well protected but strangely, the clientele is not entitled to the same courtesy.

The servers are frequently closer than 2 feet away when they're serving or clearing the dishes and this is completely inappropriate behaviour in contravention of regulations but more particularly , simple common sense. We are regulars at Piazza but will not come again until such time as the Staff observe what should really be normal procedures.

I love this place.

We put our name on the list to sit outside and the wait was 1 and a half hour. For the location of this restaurant, I wasn't surprised. Then the hostess suggested immediate inside seating and I went inside to check it out and it looked better than on the outside. I convinced the rest of the party (my wife and aunt Terry) and we ended up dinning indoors.

The burrata was the first item on the menu and this is what we came in for. The presentation was very nice and even it wasn't as creamy as I would have liked, I thought it was great. Then we had the spicy "ando" sausage pizza, which was amazing along with the PEI muscles.

I had couple bites of my wife's veal limone which was great. The complimentary bread wasn't good, but not worth the complain.

Finally, we ended at the gelato bar and it was by far the best ice cream I've had. We will come back for this alone.

Excellent place! Given the touristic area and the high traffic of new people, this place is doing great.

Really amazing spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs taste great and so does the pasta. Simple yet awesome. Not too much going on just a delicious basic dish. The tomato sauce was good too I think There was some garlic in it and onions which are my fav garnish. I would definitely get it again. And try diff things on the menu. Thumbs up !

Great food, wonderful service, and a beautiful atmosphere. The food is wonderful. We have been there three times and it is our new favourite spot in Oakville. The menu is not overly large, but focused and well done. Service is excellent and pleasant.

It is right in the center of Oakville's downtown core, the town square, which is always nice on a summer evening.

Ambience is superb, inside or out.

We have tried the meatballs, and also the carpaccio as appetizers. Superb. I have had their pizza (piazza with capers and spicy sausge) and my wife has had the spaghetti, as well as one of eir other pizzas, and last night we had the pasta with short rib sauce. Great.

Their capacinos are rich with a nice dense foam, and their gelatos are wonderful. You can take them to go, and sit outside in the square on a nice summer evening.

Recommended.

Nice atmosphere. First time diner- the atmosphere is cozy and the service is good. I ordered the Quinoa and Spinach salad but it came with arugula instead of spinach, which was fine. The salad was quite good, liked the touch of lemon in the quinoa but the portion could have been a bit larger considering it was $12 and an entree salad. A definite future dinner out option.

Excellent dinner. The cold welcome by he owner was offset by attentive and competent staff.
The menu was limited, but meeting the requirements of our party of four.
The presentation was good and the preparation excellent. The ox rib was outstanding in presentation and taste.
We will visit again, even if we came a long way. Keep an eye on that chef!

Great family-run restaurant, new favorite in the downtown Oakville. We had the meatballs for our appetizer and it was absolutely delicious, so we have come back many times since just for them. Pizza is also delicious, authentic Italian style. Really welcoming and relaxing. Owner was really nice and gracious, always makes sure that our meal was enjoyable.

Manners. Absolutely astonished to read these ad hominem attacks on the severs and owner. "Child-hater "?. C'mon. Get a life and get a babysitter. We have children too, but appreciate having a special night out of good food & conversation, free of wandering, table-hopping little darlings screeching for attention. Even people who go to fast food outlets deserve some consideration .if your kids are loud, cranky or ill mannered, it behooves you to stay home with them and give them the attention they so deserve. Why does their ill-behaviour trump our right to a peaceful night out?
Having said that.. This is one of our favourite spots in Oakville. The pizzas, gluten free or regular are divine, pasta dishes first rate ..but my all time favourite is the tuna salad..with our without sandwich. Salads are lovely...and this place has excellent coffee and cappuccino.
The setting is simple yet elegant..and the bathrooms are pretty.
The owners appear hardworking and are serious. I would be unhappy to have my meal ruined by tired, attention starved little ones. I think there are some very entitled folk in Oakville with lots of money and little manners who need to step out their bubble and realize that their kids antics end where my meal begins . Thank-you.

What a disappointment. The owner was incredibly rude. Obviously she hates children and asked me to leave mid-meal when my son wandered quietly 2 feet from our table. This woman has a serious inferiority complex. I have never been so insulted. I hope her pathetic business fails. Child Hater. If she would answer my phone call after she embarrassed me in her "dining room": I would tell her to her face. looks like I will have to stop by to make my point clear and not in the company of my beautiful children. what a total bitch!

Awesome. My husband and I absolutely LOVE it here. The food is amazing, the atmosphere is charming, the servers are especially pleasant, and the owner is a delight. (I see that one of the reviews complained about the owner. I find that very surprising. Maybe their kids really were making too much noise!)

We will keep going back, and we're telling all our friends about it..
Ruddiger
Owner and staff very rude. Told us our kids were making too much noise. We went there on a prior occasion and waited 90 mins for food as they were short staffed but we didn't complain. Avoid if u can plus they are not wheelchair accessible.

Amazing pasta and gelato! I grew up eating authentic italian pasta from my mother and grandmother and it tastes almost identical here!
