Review Stoney's Bread Company - Oakville

Srishti K
Cute and cozy place on Kerr street! It was surely different than what I had it in mind! It's self service.. You place your order on the counter itself, pay the bill and they ask if it's a takeout or dine in! Dine in orders get a table number and then your delicious food arrives on your seat by amazingly polite staff! Flavorful toppings. We ordered their 'Catalunya' Pizza 🍕 Going back to try their pasta 🍝 someday 👍

A great place to catch lunch in Oakville south. The burger is not an American burger, it is an upscale fusion of Italian infusion. Amazing and fulfilling in a real brand bun. The pizza was good as well and i love the way the place operates.

Sandwiches exceeded our expectations and portions were really generous as half already filled us up! Patio is open for the summer season, nice to enjoy lunch and people watch. Blackened chicken sandwich (5/5) - this was highly recommended by the kitchen staff as their most popular item and it did not disappoint! It had a very tarte and savoury profile that was hearty and satisfying. You can substitute the cheese to another choice too. Nove sandwich (5/5) - chicken was grilled well and had a good barbeque charred flavour and the bacon is a nice touch to give it a balanced moisture. Clam chowder (3/5) - pretty standard; we were a little disappointed to find that this soup was tomato-based and probably wouldn’t order again but at least it has an ample amount of clams!

Such a cute spot in Kerr Village! Stopped by here for lunch on Saturday. It wasn’t too busy so didn’t have to wait for a table on the patio (just street seating). If you’re dining at the restaurant, you order inside first, they give you a table number stand, and then you take a seat. Tried the Calabria sandwich and the rest of the party ordered the roast chicken sandwich - delicious! The menu isn’t too toddler-friendly though - but the staff did offer to make him a grilled cheese sandwich - but was looking for something more like fries or lighter. Great experience and will definitely return.

Amazing food. Quaint, if crowded dining room. But crowds expected I guess with tasty food like this. Will come again
Leslie Edwards-Hendriks
Went to Stoney’s for an early light dinner today. The salad selection was great! Staff, Chef/Cooks were helpful with suggestions! Will be back!
Lucas Wang
Very good cafe. Solid flavor profiles and high quality ingredients with experienced craftsmanship. The pork loin sandwich and the slow cooked lamb sandwich are both very tasty. Salads come in solid portions and overall, the higher prices are reflected in the quality of food and sincerity of service

Absolute gem!! I cannot express enough how much I LOVE the food. The amazing customer service is the cherry on top. The Slow Roasted Lamb sandwich is the item that always has us craving more and pushing us to visit as often as possible. If you had to try one item on their menu, this would be it. You will not be disappointed.

Stoney's always good sandwiches. Doesn't matter if you go with steak, pork, chicken and lamb. Sometime the place becomes packed fast during dinner hour but always good hot and very filling. Never hear of this place till I moved to Oakville, and glad I found this place.

Hubby watched an episode of 'You Gotta Eat Here' that features Stoney's Bread Co. in Oakville. We ventured out from downtown Toronto and the results didn't disappoint. We shared and loved the Lamb Sandwich and the Regina pizza. Both were very tasty. The sandwich was off the charts good! The pizza was just the right combination of savory and sweet. In addition the beer and wine prices are very resonable and not pilfering. We will most definately return to try other menu items that we saw and would love to try. Thumbs up!

The food is always fresh, well prepared and presented. I have been coming to Stoney’s for almost 15 years and have never once been disappointed. I highly recommend their breakfasts, burger of the day and even their pizzas.

My family and I have been coming here since day one of its opening. I came just 3 days after having my first child ! Yes it’s that good . Sunday brunch is worth the wait! Great date night place. Staff are like family and super friendly and accommodating . I compare this place to anywhere I go and nothing matches up with amazing staff , environment and consistent wonderful food. So Happy to support such a great establishment . It feels like home every time we go. Thanks Stoney’s!

Amazing place great concept. All the staff are very attentive
Bob Nixon
You gota try this place, always fresh, delicious food and friendly staff!

First visit with coworkers and it did not disappoint as a local 'go to' location. Had the chicken burger and cannot decide what to have the next time I am in town. Salad? Pasta? I watched other plates go by with interest...
Allison Violette
The food was absolutely amazing. The bread was PERFECT! And the staff was super friendly. Will definitely be back!
Mandy Bryan
The food is absolutely amazing here! Would definitely recommend.

Large generous breakfast portions. Their chai tea latte was bland, and the breakfast was extremely heavy and over sauced. This place is over rated and wasn’t that great.

Best Breakfast in Oakville area! Bar none. The best! My wife and I live in Burlington but we drive to Oakville almost every Sunday for brunch. It's worth it!

A friend recommended the Stoney's omelette for breakfast. I have a mushroom allergy and they were very accommodating. They had gluten green accommodations and large portions. We had lovely service. I hope to go again.

We went there on Sunday for lunch. We had the grilled veggie sandwich (with BBQ sauce instead of the aioli since we are avoiding eggs right now) and the mushroom pizza.

First thing first, we had to pay and tip first, which was weird to me in terms of tipping before you were even served. We had to get our own drinks and napkins and the waiter didn't come and ask if the food was good, so not sure what the tip was for actually. Paying ahead did speeded things up to get a table though, so I suggest leave the tip at the table instead of paying before the meal.

At the cash, I said we were not eating eggs, so if there were options for the sauces and she said we mostly have aioli and then gave us an avocado salsa which was 3$. Finally my husband asked if they had a BBQ sauce and she said yes we can do that! I would suggest they provide the actual list of sauces that are available before they provide an overpriced salsa!

Then the food came and I was expecting really good food, but it was okay. The pizza was a tad bit salty. The crust and the tomato base were fabulous but the mushrooms were not the star of the show. They advertised shiitake mushrooms but there were none on the pizza. The portions for the pizza definitely were big and we took home a few slices. The sandwich was huge. The bread was really nice and fresh but it crumbled in your hands as you tried to eat it. This is definitely not the type of sandwich you can eat and talk with because by the time you get to the second half, the bottom half was soaked half way and your hands were a huge mess along with your face. There was flavour for sure but two dimensional flavour. Nothing that popped and nothing that would make me go back again, other than to try their breakfast.

The service and the asking for the tip before even sitting down, and for a lack lustre food performance especially after the review hype is what is making me rate this so low. I'm hoping that other food might taste better, but for us... it wasn't worth the money.

Also, from a vegetarian options perspective, there weren't many.. if you eat eggs, then the Sunday brunch would include a few more things you could eat.

Great experience here. The ambiance is awesome, food is high quality, and service is good as well. Staff are all extremely friendly. Food is very flavourful - I really like the brunch options here and the sandwiches. The sandwiches are huge by the way but VERY good!

This bakery/Italian sit in is amazing. For a nonchalant place to eat this place surprises all the way. I had the lamb sandwich and we split a mushroom pizza. Awesome.
VvnFewdie
Really good! You have to be prepared to eat a meal in a sandwich. Their sandwiches are huge and savoury, it feels as though you are eating a big dinner or huge lunch.
Rachel
Pretty good food. Featured on you gotta eat here! A little pricey though but I'd say good quality food. Would visit again. The pizzas are good as well as the sandwiches
Nucleus Solitarius
This is a fantastic restaurant. The salads and sandwiches are made with fresh ingredients. The bread is so good and perfectly toasted. Simply the best sandwiches. From the chicken to the lamb to the beef. Excellent!

Like every other reviewer will ever say, one of, if not the, best places for lunch Ive had to this day. Been dozens of times and have never been disappointed by the food. Everything is fresh, wholesome, and simply delicious. If you haven't been here yet, you are totally missing out.
Andrea Lenfesty
Great Place for lunch - the best sandwiches, salads and soups in the GTA. Delicious and very good value. Large portions. Check it out if your in the Kerr Area of Oakville. Best lunch place in Oakville

February 24, 2015 Ever since my summer spent in the city of Montreal, I’ve come to appreciate sandwiches on a whole ‘nother level. They’re so simple to make yet the combinations are endless. I can probably go on and on about my love for sandwiches but I’ll spare ya the boredom! I’ve heard of Stoney’s Bread Company awhile back but never had a chance to go since it’s located in Oakville and poor Shirley doesn’t have a car #FirstWorldProblems. Stoney’s serves up classic comfort food such as sandwiches, pastas, salads, soups and pizzas. They are also well-known for their Sunday brunches which I have yet to experience. The ambiance is quite cozy and you’ll feel right at home with their wooden tables and dim-lit candles. The Grilled Chicken sandwich has caramelized onions, roasted tomatoes, field greens, feta, mozzarella and roasted garlic aioli on grilled focaccia. The chicken was tender and cooked just right; it combined nicely with the crunchy exterior of the focaccia bread. The balsamic vinegar lying next to it was SO GOOD and you can really taste the authenticity of it. My friend got the Slow Roasted Lamb sandwich and oh my was it heaven on a plate. Their portions are quite large so it’s great to share several between friends! Food: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Share this: Share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window) Click

Do you like the combination of comfort and quality food? Because I believe that Stoney's is one of the best choice of restaurants to go to for the combo. Yes, it is quite a packed area (especially on Sundays *cries*) but they still manage to not keep you waiting for the food because they are time-flexible in cooking. There are still dozens of lists from the menu that I am bound to try because I would usually order my favorite spinach frittata. But for now, I have to say it's a good place to eat.

Bad experience on Valentine's Day. Girlfriend was treated very rudely by a waitress who kicked her out of her seat while I went to pay for parking. The waitress picked up her coat from the booth and tossed it at her while she was waiting in line placing her order, telling her she had to give the table away to other patrons- despite the fact there were several other empty tables available. My GF told he waitress she thought it was very rude and she didn't think she wanted to stay and the waitress replied with, "bye". I insisted on staying as I really wanted us to try the food, I heard it was great! Reluctantly she agreed to stay. I questioned the waitress on her approach and she became very argumentative. Her manager stepped in and was very apologetic and sympathetic to the situation. She was sweet and tried her very best to turn the situation around but by that point the damage had already been done. It's really too bad because the food was actually really good! Overall experience was 50/50. Rude wait staff but great food and a very caring manager who did her best to make us happy.

Stoney's. It's very confusing when you walk in. No one was there to tell us we had to order up at the front and no signs either. You have to pay first as well as tip...Which I prefer to do after I've had my meal. They only thing the server even did was bring us the food and didn't even ask us during the rest of the time we were there if we needed anything or if everything was good. We had the California baby field greens and Margarita pizza and it was ok. Definitely won't be traveling all the way to Oakville for this again.

Stellar First Impression. My wife and I along with my 2yr old son arrived at 5pm on a Tuesday evening and we had the place to ourselves for about 10 minutes which was perfect. She ordered The Flat Iron Steak Salad & myself, the Nove sandwich. Both were divine, extremely tasty and well put together. She is pregnant and very picky with food these days so for these dishes to completely win her over is a testament to how awesome the food is. Very friendly staff and great for kids aswell & James was great to talk to. We will definitely be back to try the pizza & pasta dishes. The menu is full of winners I hear, brunch menu looks very tempting also.

Nove sandwich. Great sandwich, the bread is perfect. Not chewy like other chiabatta.

Overall very tasty, however on this visit I found the bacon under cooked. The chicken is rather bland but that's where the sauce comes to the rescue. Found some slightly brown lettuce, I expect better from a $12 sandwich.

Honestly nit picking cause it was good, but the bar is set high for this establishment.

Fantastic food superb service. I went to the new stoneys in etobicoke and I can't express how amazing it was. The food was fantastic, the staff was amazing and super friendly. Defintely a great place for date night or a girls night. Decor was beautiful and I can't wait to go again!

Ridiculous Pizza. We went to this restaurant after watching tv episode "you gotto eat here" I ordered there signature pizza recommended by their own staff, spent $40 on two pizzas and it was awful, never ever going visit again

Best pizzas in GTA. Amazing, very fresh food made with quality ingredients. Value for money is exceptional. The best pizza I have had in the GTA (@$15, huge portion that is often hard to finish for this big eater). I usually get the Catalunya but am recently falling in love with the Regina as well (Flavour combination of gorgonzola, figs and caramelized onions is out of this world decadent!). The pizzas are super thin crust and LOADED with big flavour toppings. Salt content tends to be rather high but that does not bother me as I'm a sodium addict :)
Relaxed and non-pretentious vibe.

Came here based on the online receives and wasn't disappointed. Amazing food! Had the grilled chicken sandwich and pollo pizza. Just fantastic. Coffee and desert too!

BEST SANDWICH PLACE SO FAR. Value priced, lots of selections for sandwiches and the portion is hugeeeee especially for the salads (must try steak salad). 9/10

INCREDIBLE. Literally the best sandwiches I have ever eaten. Amazing staff and atmosphere. Portion sizes and prices are amazing. Overall one of the best places I have ever eaten

As a regular customer of your restaurant (for years), who's been raving about your food and service, both on different social media as well as to my friends and visitors, I was tremendously shocked and disappointed by your management and lack of social skills and manners today!

I arrived at 12pm to meet with a couple of other friends for lunch. I was the first to arrive and I chose a table by the window, waiting for my guests to arrive. In less than literally 5 minutes I was approached by one of your servers asking me to move and give my table to people that would possibly want to sit after ordering! There were exactly 11 more tables AVAILABLE with 6 people lined up!! I told her my friends are just parking the car and I would like to keep my table! One of my guests arrived right then and so to speed the process I went to order some wine and salads while we wait for the other guest. I was approached by a lady with a thick accent, who stormed at me very rudely Telling me I HAVE to move! I was asking her for an explanation, pointing out all the available tables, telling her my friends are here and that's where we like to sit. She told me "rules are rules" and we had to move! At that point I was very angry and insulted that I told her I would leave and take my friends elsewhere where she told me that's a great idea!!!

This is NOT North American customer service!

I have actually met the owner (hopefully you're reading this) just a few days ago! I come to Stoney's at least twice a week for the past few years and I have NEVER faced this type of rudeness and approach in your or ANY restaurant in Oakville!

Your staff caused me a lot of embarrassment in front of my out of town visitors as well as wasted our lunch hour! I thought this issue needs to be addressed with the person in charge who I know is a gentleman himself!

Really disappointed!!! As much as I love the food and most of the staff, I don't think I'll be coming back!

Not a fan of lamb, but the lamb sandwich is amazing here!

Love this place. Love Stoney's!! I go there quite often. I usually get the Alsacian Chicken sandwich - absolutely brilliant!
Christiane W
Love the food. I've been here a few times for dinner and they've always been busy. No wonder since everything I've tried from the menu has been great! The only complaint I have is that sometimes they are too busy... Not really a bad thing.
Rcgill777
Relaxing fun lunch. Very different fun place. great specials. very fun and informative staff. fast pace but they don't rush you. one of the best lunches my wife and I have ever had
M B
Not very kid friendly, the waitress wouldn't even get us a table/seat us until we waited in line, ordered, paid, had a table number and even then we had to wait until our table number was called. My 2 year old ended up slipping on the salted tiled floor and then we got seated :-( The food was tasty but unfortunately not worth it all.
M
WOW!!! this is a special place. Ordered the lamb sandwich. Will be back.

Best breakfast EVER!. Anytime I am in Oakville, or Toronto even, I make the trip to Stoney's. The food is outstanding and the service is fast and friendly. The Chef creates his menu based on what is fresh and in season. Stoney's is beyond compare. A must if you are in the Oakville area.

Went on a Friday night around 8pm. Wasn't too busy, was able to get a seat almost immediately after we ordered. I got the slow roasted lamb sandwich. Absolutely deliciously, came right away. The bread was fresh and crispy,
The lamb was moist and flavorful. Atmosphere is cozy and intimate. It was an absolutely lovely time
Mallory
Nice place. Great food, nice people and patio (despite the wobbely chairs). I had the Maple Glazed Salmon Salad and it was very filling, the salmon was perfectly cooked and the bacon was succulent. Will definitely be back.

Amazing pizza. Beautiful thin crust pizza and friendly service!

this place is a gem
Linda
My favourite restaurant!!!. Always amazing. I love the atmosphere, the friendly service and absolutely delicious food! Lots of good memories here... I've brought many friends and when family is in town they don't want to go anywhere else. The jerk chicken with mango salsa is the best.... but I haven't tried everything yet. :)

Great Food, Deli Like Ordering. First visit here, the regulars know the routine of lining up and placing your order, obtaining a number then finding a table. The line is slow moving as there is only one cash register. We ordered Smoked Salmon and Grilled Chicken sandwiches, a Latee and a Lemon square. The sandwiches were super fresh on tasty and dense European like bread; the Lemon square was old and the crust thick and hard, the latee delicious.
One strange thing, they don't give you your cash register receipt only your debit receipt and there was a discrepancy of an over charge of $2,00 even with the 13% tax it did not add up!
we would return but this time would ask for my receipt.
Rating: 8 out of 10

Worth the Drive!. I had seen Stoney's on You Gotta Eat Here and thought it looked pretty good! I have been to a few other YGEH restaurants and been unimpressed so I wasn't about to get my hopes up about Stoney's.
Well I believe that even if I had gotten my hopes up they still would have been surpassed!
It was insanely busy, as it was Sunday and their brunch is clearly very popular. My friend and I waited for about 20 minutes in a line that ran down the centre of the dining area and while we had to keep shuffling one way or another to avoid other patrons the atmosphere was quite pleasant and we didn't mind one bit.
I got the Eggs Florentine and my friend had the Egg Sandwich (jampacked omelette on FANTASTIC fresh bread!)
Fresh baked bread toasted with Brie and piled high with rich tomato chutney, spinach 3 poached eggs and hollandaise... how could this not be amazing!
Other reviewers have complained (I don't even understand HOW) about the closeness of the seats and the "cafeteria" style dining (which I don't understand as you order at the counter but a server still brings your food). First of all it's unique. This place isn't a cookie cutter restaurant. It has atmosphere and a community feel while offering delicious, fresh and beautifully plated food. I live in the Niagara region and I would gladly drive the 45 mins and battle traffic to eat at Stoney's again!
KD
Had the seafood Caesar salad. It was amazing! The place is very busy and a bit crowded, but the food is definitely fantastic.

Jerk Chicken Sandwich. My brother and I came in to eat here on Thursday May 16th 2013. Our first visit here was a year ago and well we tried it again. My brother ordered the slow roasted lamb sandwich, which was unreal, so tender and juicy. I had ordered the jerk sandwich. I'm always iffy on the jerk sandwiches at most places. The chicken was cooked great but the taste of jerk wasnt there. It seemed it was brushed on during the cooking process. The mango salsa that same with it was very very taste. The contrast of color and flavor was top notch. Back to the jerk chicken. I dont know if you marinate it or just brush it one but I would recommend trying to infuse the flavors more into the chicken by either marinating it or using a dry rub. I'm thinking of going back in their today to try a new sandwich. PS Please bring back the lamb burger!

Keep it up Stoney's!

You gotta eat here!. The location is convenient, coming from Mississauga, we just got on the QEW towards Hamilton and exited on Kerr and kept going straight! It's hard to miss since it's on the corner and the sign for it is pretty big.

When you first go in, you can grab a menu and head to the main counter area where you place your order. You can either look at the menus above your head or grab our own copy on the counter. After you've ordered, you'll get a number and then you head to the sit down area of the restaurant where someone will help you get a table if it's easy. I definitely prefer this kind of hybrid since it's more efficient and doesn't waste any time or space. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and it was pretty busy as it was lunch time!

They also have a special "Sunday Brunch" menu which is only available on Sunday which is definitely worth trying out =)

After you sit down, the servers will bring the food to your table. I ordered the house smoked salmon sandwich with a side Caesar salad. The sandwich was amazing, the proportions are generous and with the salad, it was definitely enough and you can probably pack some home! The bread was fresh and soft and so was the salmon! It also had incredible flavour.

My friend ordered the daily sandwich special which had grilled chicken, bacon, avocado sauce etc. Just looking at her sandwich made me want to eat more!

The price was average and if you're ordering a sandwich, salad and drink you can expect to pay around $20! Definitely worth the money though!
Ed
We had slow roast lamb and nove sandwich, the nove was ok, but lamb was out of this world. Super juicy, tender and ficky.
Ingrid
Salads! Just Great!. Love it! Spinach salad with cinnamon pears, so nice!
Garjo
Yummy, Yummy, Yummy. Great food presentation, taste, quality and quantity. Never disappointed.
NiceGuy21
Stale bun. My bun was stale, but the pulled pork was so damn good. How come a "bread company" served me a stale bun? That's very unbread company-like.
Pol103
Not so good the second time. My family & I went here a couple months ago, everything was great. The way the place is set up is a little strange, and getting plates cleared is always an issue as servers are usually behind the front desk and not checking tables.
However, the pizza (margherita) was great, the chicken sandwich was good, and the meat pizza decent. The second we went was not great.
The margherita had WAY too much cheese. Margherita pizza is not meant to be a cheese pizza, and it seemed like they just threw on the cheese and left out the basil leaves (2-3). Very disappointing. The toast that came with the soup was extremely burnt and could not be used to dip. My father's sandwich was ok, he said he would not get it again. My mother is the only one who liked her meal without issues. Once again it took forever to get our plates cleared and the young man had an attitude when we asked him for takeaway containers. This restaurant has a lot of very young people working here, usually socializing behind the front desk.... Maybe their brunch is better?
Kitkataylor
A local favourite. Great sandwiches! The Lamb sandwich is Exceptional. A bit pricey given that there is no side included with the sandwich. However, the sandwiches are large enough to share and I have not been disappointed with any of my menus selections thus far. Salads and pizza also good. I wish they would offer table service.
CB
Great sandwiches. Yes the set up is ridiculous and I don't see why they don't have servers like everyone else. However, if your looking for a big hardy Sammy it's worth their annoying cafeteria system. 10/10 for food.

First timer. I had heard from many friends that Stoney's was THE place to go for fresh salads and sandwiches..decided to try it out to celebrate a family member's birthday. First impression- cramped, noisy and a bit of a long line up but it moved fairly quickly. Menu options were good but would have liked to have had the pasta available (can only order it after 5pm). We waited approx 20 minutes for our food to arrive, which wasn't too bad considering our luck in finding a table right away. I ordered the Florence Chicken sandwich. The flavour was a bit too tomatoey for me, but the chicken breast was tender and had the right amount of char. However, even after cutting the substantial size in half, it still fell apart after each bite. I resorted to eating the fallen bits off the plate with my fork. The sandwich was too big for one sitting, and most diners were leaving with half of their sandwiches as carry-out. Would like to see a half sandwich w/ salad or soup option. My husband had the Slow Roasted Lamb sandwich but the onion relish was over poweringly sweet for him and he ended up with indigestion the rest of the day. Not a good first impression for him. The kids had pizza which was good, but overpriced.
I would go back and try the Goat Cheese Salad..many of those passed our table and it looked good!
Matt Hudson
Great place for pizza. Stoney's is probably the best restaurant in town. All ingredients are fresh and free of preservatives. I always order the simple pizza margarita but it always comes out top notch. great sandwiches too. You can never go wrong when you visit stoney's. You can also see it appear on a recent episode of you gotta eat here.
Jenna
I am so impressed with the food at Stoney's Bread Company! I'd been eyeing this place for a few weeks now. The first time I attempted to go there, I couldn't find it. The second time, after googling it a bit more throughly, I found it quite easily! There was already a long lunch line waiting when I went in at about 11:55am, but there were copies of the menu in bouchres, so the whole time I was waiting, I was changing my mind what to order every minute! I ordered the Blackened Salmon sandwich, got a number and found myself a nice place to sit on the patio. As a solo foodie, I prefer to eat in environments where I don't have to deal with waitresses too much and this was perfect! Although busy, I didn't feel stressed or anything. When my plate arrived, oh my! The salmon was on an open faced foccia, piled high with mango salsa, guac, and a salad on the side. I was so full, happy, and content when I was eating. I definately will be returning very soon to try the other items on the menu - all of which look absolutely delish! A Must Try!
Patrick O'Kelly
Souper. I especially like the soups here. Sure, the sandwiches are great but add a soup for the complete experience.
Rose
Love the pasta and the sandwiches are also amazing! Great portion sizes with quality ingredients. Skip the pizza. I think it has cute ambience but couldn't agree more about the ventilation as mentioned in other posts. I always smell like I was in the kitchen myself when I leave.
Jimmy
Best spot to eat on oakville by far. If they told me I could only have one more meal before I die I'd pick the Nove and a chicken Cesar.
LMP
Save your time & money. Cafeteria style dining at a premium price, seats are too close together and it is not ventilated properly. We walked out smelling as though we were working in the kitchen. Lamb panini sandwich TOO SWEET! Get rid of the sweet onion marmalade! Caesar salad is not a true Caesar, lacking proper dressing and bacon bits - get rid of the tomatoes too! I will not visit Stoney's again!
John Smith
Never a place to sit, the worst ventilation system in Oakville, and the door is positioned in the worst positions so that no matter where you sit, there is always a burst of cold air everytime someone walks in. Bring a change of clothes to wear after because you will smell like burnt grease.
Cassie
Great brunch, long wait. I've been to Stoney's a couple times for Sunday brunch and I always get the Strawberry Crepe. It is to die for and reasonably priced. The only downfall to this place is the atmosphere and the wait. You have to stand in line for at least half an hour to get a table and it's very crowded.
Jennifer Labrecque
Best Brunch/ Amazing Food. This place rocks. Great Quality, lots of choices, Portions are Huge and prices are AMAZING. I really don't understand why anyone would say that the place is pricey. Really? In comparison to what? McDonalds or Timmy's? Its a sit down Restaurant that serves quality food. How can a Brunch menu with items not exceeding $11 dollars per plate that pretty much feeds 2 people each be pricey? Wine price per bottles are dirt cheap. Get there early it fills up quick for Sunday Brunch. The seating arrangements are unusual but the food + price makes it all worth it!! Don't let the negative reviews influence you. Give it a try and you will love it too!
Christine
Best Sandwich joint in the GTA. Never disappointed. Curry chicken sandwich rocks my world!

An Oakville institution. Great food in a casual atmosphere. Worth the trip

Would go again. I recently received an invite to go to this restaurant from a couple of friends. I really enjoyed my meal. Didn't have the dessert but they had a few wonderful choices... like homemade Red Velvet cake. Would definitely like to go back and try some more items from their menu. Perhaps even a piece of that cake as I'm wondering if it tastes as good as it looked.

Great Food Bad Seating/Service Style. The food at this place is great but the cafeteria style of seating makes no sense and I probably won't be going back if I'm with my wife and child. We went in for breakfast with four adults and two infants right after the santa claus parade. We knew it was going to fill up so the women and the babies grabbed a table while myself and my friend got in line. The host lady came over and chastised us for sitting down before ordering!!! What does she think we're going to do with two babies??? #1 Stand in line with them? and #2 risk getting our food and having no where to sit? Yeah I don't think so. We ignored her but I felt like telling her we could leave if she wanted us to. The food is great but the way they seat people is uncomfortable.
Clarklorabay
If you like cafeteria style with little or no service this is your place. I may add expensive considering no service
Sexc_gurl89

A favourite of mine in Oakville. I have gone with friends several times and always enjoyed the great food. Portions are so large that you can easily share a pizza and a salad between three guests. The staff is always very friendly and there is never an issue of finding a table after you have ordered, even when the place is very busy.

Great food, terrible service and even worse organization. If you grab a seat and have someone wait in line, they threaten to throw you out. They don't take reservations and it makes the unfortunate difference between a fantastic restaurant and a shithole with great food

Sunday Brunch is a must-go. Let me get straight to the point - Sunday brunch at Stoney's is worth every worth of your dime and time.
Available only on Sundays, they offer various omelets with different ingredients, at price ranging from $9 to $14.
Expansive you might say, but this is no ordinary omelet.
One, they are big. I mean real big. I have no idea how many eggs they use to make an order of omelet but I can tell you that it's more than two.
Two, it is delicious beyond your imagination. They use fresh ingredients varying from asparagus, tomatoes, wild mushrooms, salmon, chorizos, bacon etc. Cooked to perfection.
Three, if you don't like eggs, there are plenty of other options to choose from such as brick oven baked pizza, sandwiches and fresh salads.
They also brew a nice coffee.

Must check out place in Oakville, I highly recommend.
Verdict: 10/10

Consistantly good. I keep returning to try different items on the menu and am blown away each time. Spinach salad is a must have! Great atmosphere to meet friends or clients, full of great energy! Highly recommended!!

AAAAmmmmaaazzziiinnngggg!!!. I am new to Canada (from Atlanta) and a friend brought me to Stoney's for breakfast. It was amazing. The food had incredible flavor. The coffee was great as well. I then went back the next week for lunch. Had the mushroom pizza and it too was Amazing, again! This week I returned and the flavors that were married together in the Ratatouille and Goat Cheese sandwich were just wonderful. This food is "real", creative, flavorful, fresh and won't be found in yo momma's cookbook! If any of these descriptions turn you off..better run off to a nasty "chain" restaurant that will slap some processed, over cooked, stale morsels on your plate...mmmmm!

For anyone that wrote in that thinks this is overpriced??? Really? Way off the mark if you are eating in Oakville or anywhere else worth eating. Just because you put your order in at the counter doensn't mean it is FAST FOOD! You can't get anything close to the quality of food they are creating out of the Stoney's kitchen for the price. Actually I found the prices here to be much more reasonable for what you receive than many places I have been since I moved here 8 months ago. Yes, even the restaurants that have been recommended as WONDERFUL...Are you kidding me? The reason they are not charging more is because they are not paying waiters/waitresses to swat the bees away from your plate on the patio (Is the patio outside?), or to put your cream in your coffee (oh and have ya never run out of cream/soy milk at home before?) or to wiggle your food through the crowded restaurant. There is a line because people know it is good food.

If you are eating for an experience of flavorful food and a wonderful one at that...visit Stoney's. If you are eating just to eat...go, you won't be dissapointed. (check your attitude at the door...life is to short)

I think Stoney's is a great place to eat!

An Oakville institution! THE easy choice whether breakfast lunch or simple dinner. Everything is terrific - each item has an interesting twist that elevates it to delicious plus plus.

Would definitely visit again!. Rarely, do I find myself in Oakville, but I find myself at Stoney's at the recommendation of friends who I was dining with.

(Prior to my first visit, I did hear about Stoney's through shining reviews on this site.)

When I arrived, place was really busy. Apparently, the etiquette is to order first at the counter, then find a seat. Luckily, there was an empty table after we placed our order. Dining is casual, but a server does bring your meal to you.

Based on the reviews, I did order the Slow Roasted Lamb Sandwich ($10.50). Lamb was a bit lamb-y, but sauce - sweet balsamic reduction? - was DELICIOUS! Portion was pretty generous and I was surprised that I was able to finish the whole thing!

I'm not usual a fan of lamb, so next time, I'll definitely order something else.

After we were done, a friend rejoined the line in order to get dessert. A server spotted him and said, "Did you just want to get dessert?", gave him what he wanted, and said that he could just pay when he left. What business does that nowadays? I was pretty impressed by that.

Server - can't remember if it was the same person - also asked if we wanted take-away boxes for some of the unfinished meals. So there was no need to flag anyone down which did add to the pleasant dining experience.

Overall, I had a really good experience. Would definitely visit again if I was in the area!

For any first-timers, I'd recommend you pre-ordering from their online menu 'cause standing there, starring at the menu, while the line continues to grow can be a bit overwhelming.

My first visit to Stoneys was today and the Lamb Sandwich was superb!! The flavors were amazing and the lamb was lean and thinly sliced....amazing!!

Favorite spot for lunch in Oakville! Can't get enough of the Balsamic Chicken on Ciabata.

Sandwiches - WOW. WOW the sandwiches are to die for. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. They stuff them full of meat and fillings - they are not skimpy. I've tried the pizza and it was so-so. I should have stuck to the sandwiches. My favourite is the Nove and the Lamb! Yum. Would love to try brunch one day - hear it is very busy.

Pretty Good Experience. Went here for lunch with family on a Sunday. I guess after reading Foodhogger's review I agree with some of the points. It was a bit of a pain to stand in line for half an hour to place your order, but that's how the system is intended to work. Otherwise you would be waiting outside before a table cleared, because there is no waiting area at the front. So by the time you order, tables get cleared so you can sit down. Some people come in and try and grab a table right away and send someone to place the order, but the staff politely tell patrons they can't do that. So the big question, is the hassle of lining up meandering through crowds worth the wait? You know what, I think so. My burger was really good and nicely presented. The portions are huge (which could be bad if your watching the waistline) and the prices are very reasonable. Keep this in mind: You would end up paying the same for a premium sandwich at Subway or Quiznos. Stoney's is WAY better. Try it.

My favourite restaurant. Love, love, love Stoneys. Everything on the menu is great. The sandwiches in particular are amazing. Pasta, salads, brunch--it's all really good. We find ourselves constantly comparing every other restaurant we go to, to Stoneys and wishing we went there instead. Get in your car and go there now!

I have been to Stoney's many times, There food is simply amazing, one of my favourite places to eat. Many of these reviews complain about having to serve yourself to some degree or they feel uncomfortable cuz they feel this is a lunch spot for well to do Oakville mamas. But who cares! Breakfast, lunch or dinner I will keep coming out of the way for Stoney's professionally crafted and affordable fare.

Can't go wrong with the slow Roasted Lamb Sandwich. Delicious with a sweet balsamic reduction flavor.

Their daily burgers are usually good too. Had a pizza yesterday and that was a mistake. Overcooked and salty - couldn't even finish.

Ubove and beyond. I'm a an older gentleman in a wheel chair and i have been coming to stoney since they opened and i have always been impressed with the service food and overall atmosphere,

the other day i ordered quite a lot of food and when i got back to my place i found out it was the wrong order, just when i was about to call back and complain, the phone rang. Some how they found my number called back to tell me they had realized the mistake. They offered to have some one deliver it personally, and when they got hear then was an extra package filled with dessert

this made my week...because i had so much stoneys.

Don't do it.... No assistance for people with disabilities.

I USED to frequent Stoney's on an almost daily basis - despite the fact they're really quite pricey, especially since it's "serve yourself" style. And they've also charged me for the soy I ordered in my latte, but made it with regular milk instead (hello, allergies!). However, as of today, I won't even get a coffee from them.

I'm horribly disappointed in their owner and the way the staff handled themselves when it came to a request from a person with a disability.

A senior in a wheelchair called them to asked if someone would mind running a sandwich upstairs for her, as they had done before. The answer - a rude no and a hang up. In fact, she was hung up on twice - once by the owner himself - after a conversation consisting of less than 1 minute each time. The senior then made her way downstairs. When she asked for a quick word with the owner in private, she was met - by him - with "I don't have time to talk to you" and "the person who did it before broke a rule and shouldn't have" before walking away from her. No kind explanation of why they couldn't run it up this time... no kind word at all.

Since when is it okay for anyone to treat senior citizens like this, let alone someone with a disability who was asking for a little assistance and understanding?

On principle alone, Stoney's will never receive any business from me again. The taste of good food is not worth the price...

Always excellent. The lamb sandwich is the best ever. Line up pm Sunday is well worth it. Staff is fabulous.

Brunch!. Stopped by for a Sunday brunch. The place was busy, and there was a bit of a wait for our food, but it wasn't to long. I had the Santa Fe eggs which i enjoyed. Lightly spiced salsa with poached eggs on a slab of toast with salad was delicious. My wife opted for a roasted lamb sandwich which was also very tasty.

I've never had anything from here that I didn't love! The food is delicious. Plus, the staff are always friendly!

Great food! Great value, excellent atmosphere, never disappoints. My favourite place to eat in Oakville!

I have yet to meet a Stoney's sandwich I didn't love.

Great. Possibly the best food in town. Casual quick and always perfect.

I ordered the house smoked salmon sandwich with a side Caesar salad. The sandwich was amazing, the proportions are generous and with the salad, it was definitely enough and you can probably pack some home! The bread was fresh and soft and so was the salmon! It also had incredible flavour.
One of my favorite places to meet friends in Oakville is Stoney’s Bakery on Kerr Street. They have a great selection of entree’s and pizzas but I always end up getting one of their great salads and delightful sandwiches!

Everything good this weekend happened before noon. Saturday started off with sunshine, coffee, and pancakes – all the components of a perfect weekend morning. Then the boy (who wants to be called JZ – pronounced “Jay Zee”, even though we’re Canadian and should technically be “Jay Zed”… but that doesn’t sound as cool) introduced me to Breaking Bad, and we spent the rest of the morning watching it. Now I have to wait til next weekend to watch more though! Nothing else of note happened until Sunday morning when my whole family woke up at the crack of dawn (well, the crack of dawn for them at least – 6 am seems a perfectly normal time to me) to watch our boys win us the gold in hockey. Yeah!!! And because we don’t do anything without food, we had mini pancakes, mini eggs Benedict with quail eggs, mini pigs in a blanket, and fruit to snack on during the game (all made by my sister – who else thinks this girl needs to start a catering business?). Oh and there were mimosas and Caesars for tho
Food In The City Toronto
Stoney's Bread Company is a hidden gem tucked away in Oakville serving familiar classics - Italian and a modern Mediterranean influence. The doors of this restaurant opened back in 2004 by co -owners Steve Chabot and Blake Stoneburgh (restaurant name was inspired by Blake's father). With Stoney's Bread Company being # 2 on Urbanspoon's "Toronto's Most Popular Restaurant" plus a friend's recommendation (particularly their Sunday brunch) - it was pretty obvious that Stoney's would be my next stop (one of many restaurants in my long list in the queue - haha) Unfortunately, I'm pretty busy Sundays so a dinner visit will have to do for now =) Stoney's is a "cafeteria" style restaurant. You order and pay for your food at the counter - menus are displayed there as well. Once they give you a number, you seat yourself and someone will bring the food to you when ready! The friendly staff here are very quick and efficient. Once a table leaves, they quickly clean up ensuring there will never be cu

Mostly known for making their own doughs and breads in house, we decided to default to the good ol' carbs. Our carb fest began with the Regina Pizza, a thin-crust style pizza...

I’ve heard endless stories about Stoney’s Bread Company. They were even featured on the Food Network Canada show, You Gotta Eat Here . The menu actually looks pretty unassuming, no obvious stand-out items or quirky ingredients. But I heard the thing to order is the smoked salmon pizza. Unfortunately, they don’t have it on the menu any more. There’s still a smoked salmon sandwich though. Growing up in British Columbia, I am very picky about smoked salmon. Stoney’s Bread Company, Oakville, 325 Kerr Street, Oakville, ON Stoney’s was packed when we arrived and it was a weekday. It’s run like a deli, you line up to order at the counter and they give you a table number after you order. We had to split up to find a table, it was so crowded. Just like the quaint little village where Stoney’s is located, the restaurant gives off a charming, small-town feel, in a good wa

After all the hoopla and hype over Stoney’s; we finally made it for brunch on Sunday and I have to tell you…I am a little bit disappointed. Okay, so you stand in line, make your order, get a number, pick up your own drinks, seat yourself and your food is

I'm not easy to please when it comes to breakfast or brunch joints. I make some damn good omelettes, crepes, pancakes and skillets at home so I expect to be just as or more impressed with anything I order. Stoney's never disappoints. When I lived in Oakville, this was my go to with the hubby on atleast a monthly basis. The food was delicious and the portions so generous! Like 5 years later, they quality of the food, service and the portions are still right up there! I had the lamb sandwich (Lord it's so good) this weekend and dare I say it's gotten even more delicious! Be prepared to possibly see long lines since you have to order at the cash first and then get seated. It's rarely as bad as it looks because by the time you get seated, your food will (usually) be out in under 10 mins. Obviously if you have a really large group or it's Mother's Day expect to wait longer (I came on Mother's Day once with a group of 10 so I know first hand lol)
