BEST PHO EVER!!
im vegan and get the veggie pho and me and my friends go about once a week. love the family that runs it, they know our orders and the food is so consistent. ive brought alot of people here and everyone loves it!!!!!!!!
Great place for people who like Vietnamese food. Today I had a grill pork sub and an ice coffee, it was so good. Very clean restaurant and good service.
Loved this pho place! Who knew there was great pho in north van?! Not I! I got the vegetarian pho with rice noodles and was pleasantly surprised with how hardy and filling it was. The staff was warm and the atmosphere welcoming. It seemed like a family run operation which I always appreciate. My teacup was never empty and all the fixin's only added to my delicious soup. Would return in a heartbeat!
Rotten salad. Hi Marionette2158. I used to buy the VietNamese food and sometimes I found that salad or rare beef was cooked by another food such as hot rice or some grill meat or hot noodle. Moreover, salad is pretty cheap and its not worth much to exchange their reputation. So i think they wont do that.
Very glad we tried this place! Coming from Richmond, I've tried a lot of pho. My biggest pet peeve with most places is overcooked, mushy noodles.
Pho Saigon was not only clean, the service was good and the soup was great! Noodles had good bite and the broth was very tasty.
I recommend!
Finally! Another option in North Van!. For the longest time, I've always said that there isn't any decent pho on the North Shore. The only other option was one that I didn't enjoy. So, I was ecstatic to find Pho Saigon. Of course, I was wary, but was then pleasantly surprised. Service was warm and friendly (although limited with only one server, sometimes whom didn't speak English). The food was good. The broth for the pho wasn't overly salty; although, I did find that the beef could probably use a bit more seasoning. Also, I'm finding the beef to noodle ratio was a little on the thin side (for the beef). Overall, it's a good option when needing something hot, warm and comforting without breaking the bank.
Convenient family dinner. Short of time because of busy schedules, we called Pho Saigon for take-out. First time but won't be the last time.
Particularly enjoyed the crisp but not greasy spring rolls and fresh tasting shrimp salad rolls. Prawn tempura suffered from the time between the kitchen and the table, something that always degrades hot food. I'd skip those next time. Side sauces, peanut and sweet mild chilli, were pleasing.
Special House Beef Noodle Soup had a delicate aromatic broth and plenty of beef with a few dry ingredients packed separately for last minute combination. Nice touch.
Not great cuisine but hearty, tasty and good value.
Personable. This simple restaurant is very welcoming. The beef and seafood noodle dishes were both tasty and fresh as billed. The owner ended our dinner with a rice dessert. She packaged our leftovers and added more broth for us to enjoy -- very nice.
Pho-king Delicious. Walked by the other day and saw this new place open where Maggie's Cafe used to be, thought the Wife and I should give it a try for something different than the usual midweek sushi dinner...
Mom and Pop shop, pretty much the nicest people you will ever meet. Very clean, warm and a great smell when you walk in. Food and service were amazing, Pho was unbelievable and the Banh Mi was on point. Everything was FRESH.
Definite re-visit. VERY cheap. Highly recommended.
Phenomenal!!! The food is delicious and the service is exceptional. It's family run by the sweetest family who are extremely generous. They are just getting started and are doing things very right! Spring rolls, salad rolls and pho were are delicious. Will be going back on a weekly basis.
Glad more people discovered this place this weekend! Gotta be the best Pho on the north shore. Everything is super fresh.
Just getting started. After an evening of grocery shopping, I happened upon Pho Saigon. Now, I;m not sure if it used to be, still sorts is, or in the process of no longer becoming Maggie's Deli and Café. The owner told me they had been open just about five weeks. The place was small and cozy and only one other table was being occupied when I sat down. As I looked around it appeared that it was very much a mom and pop shop. Pop in the kitchen and mom out front.
I was starving so I went with my stand by Pho Tai and salad rolls. My host brought me a glass of hot tea. Serving hot beverages in glass is usually not well advised. It was near impossible to even hold the glass until it had cooled down considerably. As I waited on my food I was noticing food trickling out to the other table. It appeared food was coming out a bit randomly. There were four people at the table and after an appetizer, two mains showed up then after a wait another main, the last main then after a few minutes the other appetizer. True to form, my main came out first. I was about 3/4 of the way through my bowl of pho when my salad rolls turned up. So, a knock against right away but let's get to the food.
The soup was quite nice. One of my most common gripes with bad pho is a broth that's too salty to compensate for the noodles that are generally flavourless or a broth that's too bland and needs lots of additional hoi sin and chilli sauce to get it right. This soup was quite nice. Good flavour, the noodles had good bite and the sprouts were fresh. I HAAAAAATE getting old, wilty sprouts. These sprouts were really fresh and it was nice having the crunch in my soup. For those of you that prefer steamed sprouts, I imagine that won't be a problem. The salad rolls were qhite big and consisted of noodles, lettuce and shrimp. Maybe a little heavy on the lettuce and could use one or two other addition to the guts of the roll but very serviceable and the sauce was flavourful and robust.
All in all this is very much a mom and pop shop that seems to be trying to get its legs under them. They've only been open a short time so I think they're still going to be adjusting. I think once they find their groove they should be fine. I think getting the appetizers out before the mains is important and I get the impression these are first time restauranteurs. The food is good, however, and I'd be happy to make a return trip. Hopefully, they're able to get through their growing pains.
