A friend suggested I check out a bakery in North Van where they had grabbed a few pastries the day before. This was Golestan Bakery, an easy pit stop for me after having lunch nearby. I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 5:45pm). It wasn’t busy but there were a few grabbing treats to go. Interesting that they have some soft serve along with a couple display cases of Persian sweets.
I ordered my son's birthday cake from Golestan a couple of days ago. It was absolutely incredible how I was able to communicate and coordinate the design, flavour and details with the owner Mr. Darvishy, over the phone without ever needing to step foot in the store. I was able to send him pictures of what we were looking for, a basketball jersey if my son's favourite player which he executed with impeccable taste. Mr. Darvishy's professionalism, dedication, and willingness to work with us on all levels exceeded our expectations on all fronts. The cake turned out even better than we expected. It was a beautiful fondant cake made in the shape of Lebron James's jersey. He did not hold back on anything and in fact used the most natural and delicious fondant I've ever tasted to date and I have tried a few.
The vanilla flavoured cake was superb, the cake was light, super moist and soft and the icing was just sweet enough with the right amount of vanilla flavour.
The cake was a big hit and we know because we were asked for the bakery's name by many parents who attended not to mention the kids.
Thank you Golestan and Mr. Darvishy for continuing to exceed our expectations with your delicious cakes, utmost professionalism and amazing experience.
I would highly recommend Golestan for any events, whether corporate, holiday celebration or just because. I have relied on them in the past and have yet to be disappointed. This review was long overdue.
Few days ago I had my daughter's birthday party. Mr. Jalal owner of the bakery cooked and designed a birthday cake exactly like a fancy cake on the internet and awesome taste which made all my guests crazy about it. Highly recommended and fair price.
Nice place. Quick stop for a dessert. Friendly staff. Must try $1 gourmet coffee.
Outdoor seating is comfortable and alluring.
Cakes and pastries are soft and perfectly sweetened.
I've ordered custom cakes from Golestan Bakery several times now and have consistently been impressed. Not only is it extremely delicious (great flavours, nice and moist) but the bakers are real professionals. They're my go-to!
This Bakery the BEST of in Vancouver(BC)!!!

I'm an Italian student attending high school here in Canada. Three days ago it was my birthday and my parents from Italy bought a cake for me at Golestan Bakery. They delivered to me a great chocolate cake that was a surprise for me. It was delicious!
I...love...Persian...bakeries. Growing up on the north shore I would always gets pastries from Persian mothers. I arrived at this bakery late morning and already you can smell the wonderful pastries. For you folks that aren't aware of Persian customs with mothers, here's a tip, first say Salam. When you just want to order a "certain number," a mother will always give you more. Yes you may think it's a buisness tactic for you to buy more but in reality they will always want to feed you. If the shop keeper offers more just grab your tummy with your two hands and just roll your eyes to the side and say ohhhh I can't eat too much I will get sick, too much sugar no good. I wanted 6 items secretly, I pretend to stop at 3 then when she offered 3 more I grab my tummy with a gesture. Eureka! It works!
Napoleon cake, light and flaky.
Finger sweet puff, sweet and decadent.
But the real high light is the latifeh walnut! It's so beautiful, that's the wow factor. It crumbles very easily so becareful. It taste wonderful and I'm not kidding when I tell you it melts in your mouth. Total bill was 5 bucks for 6 items. It's sooooo cheap like a Chinese bakery. Here's another tip, she will offer Persian tea for free if you hand her money in one hand, and your other hand under her other hand, then compliment how amazing her work is, then thank you "merci." Compliment is the key because if she hands you the food by hand it's a gesture of respect. The tea is a lovely pair to her pastries. They also have many boxed Persian treats as well inside the store. There's also a beautiful painting inside.
If you’re ever in North Van, this is a must go-to spot for desserts. Very cute little Persian bakery with lots of options. Items are not overly sweet, and quite light for what it is. I recommend the German Pistachio cookie!
