Tonight I learned that Sushi Town/North Vancouver has stopped accepting phone calls for take-out orders! If a customer wants a take-out order, they must go to the restaurant in person, place their order - and wait for 15 or 20 minutes for it to be prepared. Where they're supposed to wait, I don't know! ! It makes absolutely no sense to me! I may go back mid-week, and ask to speak to a Manager, to see if there's an explanation. The young man who spoke with me tonight, just kept repeating that phone orders are no longer accepted for take-out. In fairness to him, he was polite - and English was not his first language. I am bummed. I quite like the restaurant. The portion sizes are generous, the food is fresh, the prices are very fair - and - the service is fine! It's just that I don't always have time for a sit-down meal in a restaurant - so, the ability to order by phone was convenient. Most other restaurants accept phone calls for take-out. Not sure why Sushi Town thinks they can disregard what must be a large clientele!
For about the same cash outlay as one of North Vancouver's "sushi special" joints, Sushi Town offers food that is definitely superior in quality and presentation.
Nice place too--was very impressed after many years of Lonsdale's selection of mediocre sushi restaurants of questionable sanitary conditions.
Good value and sushi in North Van. Sashimi was one of the best ones I've had. Green salad was massive and like the dressing.
Alaska roll had some of the salad dressing sauce on it which seemed unnecessary - so maybe ask for sauce on side if order any special rolls or the agadashi tofu. Other than that service was fast and friendly especially for how busy it was.
Overall, the quality of food is above average compare to its price. However I would not order their Udon soup again... the taste is really blend. Just stick with the rolls and sushi menu
What I love about this place is that it serves sushi fast-food style. Contrary to other sushi places, this is a breath of fresh air. Large portions and great prices make for a winning combo for me. Interestingly, it shares location with a McDonalds (which also happens to be their competition). The only thing that needs work on is their service. For being a fast-food joint, the food comes out rather slow.
You want good sushi at a reasonable price? Go here. Fast service. This place is always packed. Their rolls are really good as well as the sashimi.
I've been to this location a few times. It's good quality for a sushi fast food joint. Overall, the food is quite good and service is very fast, rushing through dinner service. The tuna had a was a tad still frozen, but everything else seemed pretty fresh. I would go back here to get a quick sushi fix.
I have been here many times as i used to live right around the corner since moving overseas. 10/10 times have been absolutely wonderful. There is a vast selection of sushi and Japanese dishes at very reasonable prices. The one place they could do better at would be to get better service as quite often you must ask more than once for them to bring something to you. It's a great location for a quick bit or good for a group to sit and enjoy. I suggest getting the spicy salmon sashimi or the fantastic roll!
Food: 4/5 Service: 3/5 Atmosphere: 3.5/5 Price: Avg.$25/person
Return: For sure! Must try item(s): Sushizzz
Looking for sushi and in a fair price? Sushi town will be one of your choices if you were in North Vancouver area. It is located next to the Macdonald, and they seem to share the same parking lot together but they are not. So, beware if you parked at the wrong parking spots, please read the signs carefully. Back to the food, the quality is very good for the price like this. It is a kids friendly restaurant, unfortunately, it does not take reservation. I like their Sashimi, Tempura, Rolls Specials and also Sushi. Uni, ika, Scallops, Salmon, and Ikura. Since, it is a big restaurant and they have lack of waiter and waitress, I would suggest to place your order all at the same time. Or else, you might notice their service is a little slow.
Thanks for following my review, and I do appreciate for your support! :D
Cost: great, pretty cheap.
Quality: good sushi!
Service: below average. Maybe because they're busy but I feel like I'm annoying the servers when I ask for something.
OOOOOO Red Roll. Best of the three locations- we keep coming back! Love their consistent, delicious rolls. And such a pleasant surprise that an affordable sushi place has such good toro!
We came to Sushi Town on Saturday Night. It was packed and smoking busy. No reservation allowed during weekend so we waited about 20 minutes for a table. Sushi Town is not the finest kind of Japanese authentic sushi place in town but it's good quality and tasty in a fair price. Shared the parking lot and entrance door with Macdonald. Simple Décor and structural booth seating Nigiri Sushi: Ikura @ $1.80/pc, Uni @ $2.50/pc, Amaebi @ $1.80/pc , Toro @ $1,35/pc, Hamachi @ $2.00pc, Hotategai @ $1.65/pc Fresh and Tasty! Some more rolls to satisfy our craving! Dragon Roll @ $5.50- cucumber and avocado inside with unagi on top
Food OK, Service Not OK. Sushi town is good for portions. Taste was ok. I ordered the chopped scallop roll and salmon sashimi. The roll was tight enough so the roll sort of fell apart when you pick it up. Service was worse than usual. It was a Friday night but it wasn't too crazy busy. Trying to get a waiter/waitress' action was hard. Had to ask for things a couple times before it actually got to the table. Parking wasn't too great either because there was only street parking or share the lot with McDonalds.
Super cheap for decent sushi, my boyfriend and I love going out for sushi and this place is really good. Low price for not the best service but awesome sushi. Great.
First-time visitor last night. Best sushi I've ever had (the 'Awesome' roll). Service was friendly and efficient. Will absolutely be going again!
Wonderful. I'm at this place at least 2 times a week to get my dose of Sashimi and sometimes rolls. I love it because it's inexpensive, yet good quality and super fast service and good atmosphere. Try it.
Just OK. We visitied on a Saturday night without a reservation. There is alot of staff working the floor, and the place is always busy. We had to wait in the bar area for about 5 minutes for our table. Our waitress was friendly, but her english was very poor. My husband said he wanted a big bottle of beer, and asked what kind they had. She said they only had Sappero beer in the large bottle. My husband said 'Ok, I'll have a large Sappero. Then she said 'No, we don't have large Sappero, we only have Kirin.'
Uh, ok.....
The food was good. It came fast and fresh. I have no complaints about the food. There was a table seating a family with 4 kids. The kids were running through the restaurant screaming and bothering the other tables for our whole meal. The parents did nothing, and the restaurant also did nothing about it.
There is more to running a restaurant than serving food. We came for the experience and left dissapointed.
Very Fresh & Great Deal!. Usually very busy, so the service is hit & miss, but totally worth it for the value and fresh sushi. My favourite in North Van.
Cheap and good. I have been here with my family every month for about a year now and sushi town is a good choice when it comes to cheap dining. the sushi's are very well made and the spicy tuna sashimis are amazing. very good for the price you pay.
Great Food. Came here with my family for dinner and had a great time. The atmosphere is classy and cool, very cool place to go for drinks. I got the Spicy Tuna and Salmon Don. It was under $10 and was huge! The bowl was packed with sashimi (unlike many japanese places) and it was absolutely fantastic. Though my mouth was burning from the spice, it was one of the best dons I have ever had. At the end after stuffing myself, I even had some to take home. Friendly servers, fast service, and great value. I highly recommend!
Excellent sushi and the best value for the $. Can't beat this place!!!
Take out place. Looking for Sushi? Want decent but not expensive?
This is it.
Not the best but not the worst by far.
Have had take out many times

Really nice to have sushi in an actual trendy looking restaurant rather than a dingy hole in the wall. Sushi is cheap and delicious and there are lots of seats. Awesome for birthdays and big parties.
Best cheap sushi I've had. We're here at least 3 times a week. Massive amounts of good quality food, for a really good price. The staff are super friendly and know us by name now.
One of the last places I had sushi before I left van :(. Good lunch though. Their portions are huge! (see my photo) sometimes this means lots of unnecessary rice in the sushi though. Very generous sashimi in the Chirashi don. Overall good value.
Great cheap sushi!. Out of the hundreds of cheap sushi joints I have over the years this one is up there. Huge portions, great atmosphere, low prices.
Best Sushi Restaurant in North Vancouver!. Finally a great Sushi Restaurant in North Vancouver! All the same great food and prices as the North Burnaby location, but without the horrible service!!! In fact, the service and decor are extremely good. It's become a weekly pleasure! Highly Recommended.
Same good eats, new location. A few months ago the boy and I were at Sushi Town in Burnaby enjoying the spicy tuna sashimi and noticed a sign about a new location opening in North Van. It's finally open... hooray! The boy lives in North Van so no more driving to Burnaby.
We had take out this time but will dine in next time. The interior is very modern looking. I had miso soup, sweet potato tempura roll, and dynamite roll. The miso was sold but I honestly have to say I was disappointed with the other rolls. Every time I have rolls with tempura from this place, they're cold and soggy. Why is that?
The boy had the awesome roll, deep fried roll (tuna and salmon), and something else. He was delighted and I sampled - deelish! His tempura was hot too... that makes me even more curious.
We shared the spicy tuna sashimi and it was amazing, as usual. They don't skimp on this one at all.
We'll be back, definitely. I'll just smarted up and make some better choices. :)
The side tempura with my Tempura Udon ($5.95) was a modest serving of 1 zucchini, yam, carrot, and prawn tempura with a large bowl of udon noodles. They were also heavily battered and came in a large portion size, but I still enjoyed it since there was a lot of it to dip into the tempura sauce. The noodles were standard, the broth was sweetish with umami flavours and the noodles were cooked al dente. The noodles came in a very deep bowl. I feel as if this could have just been a meal on its own! I was so full after eating this.
Sushi Town's North Vancouver location proves that successful, budget sushi restaurants can exist. The atmosphere is casual, the food is fresh and the staff are friendly. While this is not the best sushi available in Vancouver, it is one of the better sushi restaurants at this price point.
All in all, Sushi Town is a good place to get some good sushi for a good price. The service can be a little hit or miss, but the food is consistent and well priced.
Vancouver is known for its plethora of cheap sushi restaurants. I’ll be honest, some of them put me off due to their grungy look or their suspiciously low prices but I’m now a convert! My father brought me one quiet day to Kin Sushi in West Vancouver to pick up some takeaway for our dinner. The tiny shop does have eat-in facilities though they’re very very basic. Most people come and get their order to go. While you can get lots of special rolls, we ordered their more basic combos – each of these was about $6 (with miso soup!). Here was a California roll, tempura yam (sweet potato) roll and tuna maki. This was a spicy combo – spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll and spicy dynamite (tempura prawn) roll. Of course, it’s not actually very spicy – there’s just a reddish sauce with a tingly heat mixed into the rolls. I was surprised by how tasty they are – they’re already about 20 times better than the sushi one gets at the major chains in the UK (I’m looking at you, Itsu and Wasabi ). Kin Su
