Review Slice Resto - Nanaimo

Great food, went there on a Sunday. They close by 8. The server was very patient and helpful. Nice place to have a beer with some pizzas. The wings and the pizza was good. Tried the big bacon burger.

Slice Resto is another lovely restaurant in the tranquil suburb of Cedar, just south of Nanaimo, BC. It is situated between the 49th Parallel Grocery and Coco Cafe. Parking is limited at the entrance, but there is plenty more in back. The restaurant is large and cozy, with tables and booths. The menu has a good assortment of choices including fresh homemade soups, salads, appetizers, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, pasta, as well as full entrees. It is a very ambitious menu, and yet they seem to pull it all together really well. I started with a fresh spinach salad, followed by a burger with fries. My son had their Resto Mac and Cheese paired with the salad special of the day. Dessert is not shown on their website, which is a real shame, as they make some of the most mouth watering cheesecakes in the Nanaimo region. I've included some images to whet your appetite. They also have large brownies. Their signature cheesecake is Oreo with a light fluffy cheesecake on a chocolate cookie shell. The other regular cheesecake is Peanut Butter. They also had two seasonal cheesecakes, lemon and lime, which we tried. Everything was nicely plated and everything tasted great. The service was warm and friendly. I am looking forward to trying the Oreo cheesecake next visit. Their crispy chicken sandwich is even better than their impressive burgers. I tried their mixed greens with blue cheese dressing and found it to be a well above average garden salad which I have ordered again. Their signature Oreo cheesecake is rich, fluffy and delicious and well worth ordering and taking some extra slices home. Truly impressive.

The service was fantastic from start to finish. Mj was so hospitable. The food was reasonably priced and so were the drinks! We had wings and calamari! Definitely we will be back and also when I need a quick snack I will be stopping by for a slice to go between 12-4.

Everything I've eaten at this restaurant has been delicious. I used to buy your pizza when you had a little takeout on the side of the gas station. Best. Pizza. Ever. Please, please reopen.

Love this place! When I found out it was closing, I called my parents who live out there to pick me up a peanut butter cheesecake slice for when I come back to Nanaimo. Hopefully it lasts in the freezer and no one else takes it. Seriously the best! Also, great pizza, but cheesecake is to die for. Thanks so much for serving our community😊

A wonderful family restaurant. Good food, good service, coloring for kids, and they used a coffee cup as a sippy for my 2.5 year olds orange juice. $10 kids menu, change table in the washroom.

Staff very friendly. Here in January...lack of 2 door foyer meant a blast of cold air everytime someone opened the door for pickup of takeout. During dinner hour, this means every couple minutes. Food took 45 minutes and there were only 2 tables seated in restaurant. Our order must have been behind the avalanche of takeout orders. Great food and friendly server, but long food wait and frigid conditions at our table.

Friendly, clean and fantastic food! We just by chance saw this place and decided to give it a try! I think one of the best burgers I’ve ever had! Great fries and gravy! Best place on the Island! Highly recommend it! They welcome Children and have a great kids menu! Thank you! We’ll be back! Loved the signs all over the place too!😂 happy vibes is a happy time!

I am on my way home to Vancouver through Nanaimo and had a long wait at the duke point ferry terminal. The lady at the check in box told me about this place, so I thought I'd try it. <br/><br/>I called and spoke to a really nice lady. She was awesome at helping me place my order, which was a regular burger with fries extra crispy, and told me the delivery driver will call me on the way so I can meet him at the gate when my order gets here. He called, I went to the gate, he was nice (and kinda cute), and that's all the good I got from this place. <br/><br/>So, maybe it's just me, but one of my biggest pet peeves happened when I opened my dinner box. My burger was on a whole wheat bun. If this weren't a g-rated public forum, I would have had quite the string of vulgarities to go with that statement. I wish I would have ordered the gluten free bun, or at least as a lettuce wrap, but a whole wheat bun???<br/><br/>Also, my fries were undercooked. When I say undercooked, I don't mean that they weren't as crispy as I would have liked, I mean they were not fully cooked. If you don't order them extra crispy, do you get raw cut up potatoes??? <br/><br/>Anyway, I'm giving this place a 2 because the customer service was good, the food was not. They have a high rating on here, which makes absolutely no sense to me based on what I just got.

I have on more than one occasion been treated with the same disrespect and unprofessional manner by management and staff ( the young girl is lovely)they seem to think this is not a place of business but a place where they can say and act how ever they feel! With no concern for the customer or how they feel. That behaviour eventually starts a backlash for your business, word of mouth had the biggest effect you do something good 3 people talk do something bad 30 people talk!! Had dinner there before Xmas and had my parents with me they didn't understand why the waitress was so rude. If you don't want to be there don't, but please don't feel like you can treat people however you want a good business doesn't run that way.

Love love love this restaurant! Never been disappointed!! So worth trying it out of you haven't already!!! My favorite is either the burger special or the crispy cod burger!!

Have heard from other people and friends that the customer service at this place is unfortunately going downhill! We have now seen it for ourselves firsthand!! To bad when you have great food but the customer service is what will lower your clientele!! # Bad management!!

I ordered a gluten free Mozza mushroom chicken burger. It was hands down the best I have ever eaten! WOW It was delivered within a half hour. Everybody else stated the food was great too.

Great food every time. Friendly staff and reliable delivery.. Every meal we have ever ordered from The Slice is enjoyable. We are a family who cooks quite a lot of tasty meals at home so going out or ordering in has become more challenging and disappointing as of late. But we never worry about that when we choose The Slice.

Was good but could be better. I have ordered a few different types of pizzas, and enjoyed them all. The crust was great. The pizzas had lots of toppings. The only thing I found wrong was the BBQ sauce they use is too strong and it over powers the other flavours of the pizza. A lot of people probably really like the BBQ sauce, but it's too strong for me. If they could please give us a choice on types of BBQ sauces would be great, cause I do enjoy their pizzas. Solid food, solid prices, amazing service. Yes. Just go.. I have a traveled, a lot. I eat out far too much. I do not say this to brag, just to back up my opinion that I have experienced a lot of different restaurants and levels of service around the world.<br/>Slices, unbelievably, exceeds most of my expectations for a restaurant that should be able to survive in any major city; but it chooses to live in CEDAR for some reason.<br/>I have had the pizza from Slices, and most of the entrees. The food at Slices has never failed me. The Chicken Burger is one of the best that I have ever had. The pizzas, when made fresh, are beautiful; with excessive toppings and REAL cheese that has that mouth feel of quality.<br/>The service at Slices is also top notch. I have only experienced the service from one waitress (is she the only one that Slices employs? That lady is there seemingly EVERY day. Who cares though, because she is amazing. I frequently break the 30% tip barrier with her.<br/>The one negative I would have to say about Slices is that once in a while their slices are actually pretty small. This one time, a younger woman gave me a slice to go that looked like it was made for a child. She clearly looked at it, ALSO thought it was really small, but still sold it to me. That one experience was unfortunate but the quality of the place makes up for it by leaps and bounds.

Delicious Food. I have eaten here a few times, mainly pizza which is delicious every time. They do not skimp on toppings and it delivers really well unlike most pizzas. Went in for dinner last night and had an awesome meal, lasagna which was perfect and I got a half order and was surprised by how large the half order was and took the rest for lunch. It was buys for a Wednesday which is awesome to see and our waitress handled it on her own like it was problem. Definitely would recommend to eat here!

NOTHING SPECIAL. Beef dip supposed to come with onions and mushrooms- still looking for them. Beef did not taste good.<br/>Nachos barely any toppings, salsa basically chopped tomatoes. Slightly overcooked.<br/>We did mention that we did not care for the nachos and only ate 1/3 of them . They could of at least taken 50% off of the nachos but when the bill came we were charged full price. Won't be back.

Let me tell you, I have no earthly idea why this place gets such great reviews. I went for a pie and some drinks with a friend for her birthday. The drinks tasted like there was nothing but melted ice in them and the pie we ordered was on suggestion of our server, which took 45 minutes to come out and still wasn't cooked properly. The server was rude and hardly checked back with us for more or different drinks, leaving our glasses empty AND the restaurant wasn't even full. My advice, skip this "resto-rant" and save yourself some money and trouble.

Best food ever!. Great Pizza!! You are privileged to live in a place where your day can be ruined (apparently) by someone serving you food that did exactly what you asked to it.

Unbelievably unprofessional staff. There was a slight misunderstanding after delivery to my 15 year old daughter. The debit machine was out of area for the house she was at. When I called the next day to resolve the issue I was spoken to in such an unprofessional and unbelievable way by the "manager". I am still in disbelief that someone would treat a customer in that manner. It's unfortunate because my daughter said the pizza was delicious but we will most definitely not be back to a place that would have staff that's so disrespectful. I am a business owner and would be appalled to have someone be treated in such a way by my staff.

Good food. Been here a few times and ordered the pizza. Staff problems for sure some servers make you not want to return. Luckily we had the owner as our last server and she was very charming, informative and professional. This couple really care about the taste and quality of their food and they want you to feel at home here. Food is very good it has a home cooked and a creative flair plus they are creating more gluten free items to choose from.<br/>Any problems just ask to see the owner otherwise go and enjoy as the quality is definitely there. This will be a fav. place for us.

Lunch July 19, 2013. Drove from Parksville after having previous reasonably priced good lunch a month ago. This time same order, but after specifically asking for child or senior grilled cheese sandwich and fries was charged a much higher price than previously. Supposedly left out pulled pork and put in extra cheese.<br/>It was the same sandwich and an extra bit of cheese certainly doesn't justify the price of $10.95. Waitress had indicated price would be adjusted down and this did not happen despite complaint. Will not be back!!

Non Existent Service. Organized a luncheon for father's day. Party of 18. We were asked to advance order as they were expecting to be busy. OK. When we arrived, our party was seated at 2 tables not even close to each other. Our advance ordering wasn't acknowledged. When we arrived for our 1 pm reservation there was a total of 3 other tables with 4 guests seated at each. Our orders were taken regardless of our advance ordering 30 minutes after we were seated. We received our meals 1 hour after the order was taken. The other table in our party received their meals 40 minutes before our table. Parts of the meal were hot, other parts not. Sat with empty glasses for 30 minutes prior to our meals showing up. Where was our server? 2 tables of 4 were seated after our party and finished their meals before ours was served. On a scale of 1 - 5 with 1 being lowest i would rate the meal a 3 and the service a 1. Would i recommend this restaurant? - No

Just finished the Veal Cutlets...they were awesome. The gravy was delicious and the veggies were cooked perfectly. The wine was a generous portion and the service was great. I'll definitely be back and will recommend this restaurant to friends.

They use the really big pepperoni on their pizza and put it under the cheese so it's not cooked. I guess I should have asked. Also the bacon was large pieces and reminded me of tastless microwave bacon. The crust was good, but didn't like the bacon and had to take off the pepperoni which had most of the sauce on it.

Terrible Service. I took my wife there lastnight for our anniversary and we ended up leaving after 45 min. The waitress who took our order of just trhree things never even brought us our appitzer, When I asked her about it she simply said oh I guess I told them to just put it with your meal. I'm sorry but it doesn't take long to make a Greek salad or Fettuccini noodles which our meals were. Our appitizer was potato skins. TERRIBLE SERVICE on the waitress's part. I've had their pizza before and I will admit it is great but, after lastnight they lost a potencial great returning customer. If they keep that waitress employed and not teaching her how to do her job better than I feel sorry for how much buissness they are going to lose.

Slice Resto. I use to order the pizza all the time before they moved and I was pleased with it, now that they have more menu items it is AMAZING, although every time we have gone there our waitress ( the same one every time) was just awful, I sat there for an hour with no drink refill although I've asked, she didn't take the menus off the table until we asked, it was half an hour between finishing our appys and getting our dinner and she wouldn't give you time to actually answer her she would just keep talking and walk away it was horrible. Though watching the other servers, they seem very friendly and at least act like they know what they are doing but the service of the woman who was waiting on our table makes me never want to go back, and that's unfortunate because it's nice and close and delicious but I am very thirsty.

Not Happy. Based upon other reviews I was looking forward to trying slice....ordered pizza for delivery at 6 pm and after calling them at 7:30 and being told mine was next on the list I cancelled the order at 8 pm. The girl I spoke to didnt really seem very concerned either about the fact it had been two hours or about the fact I was cancelling.....not very good with the customer service aspect of this business. If they had even given me a quick call to say perhaps they were especially busy on this evening that would have been better recieved by me but no explanation and the nonchalent attitude means I won't waste my time with them. Back to the Wheaty I go.

Awesoooommmmm!. Super pizza, lots of topping, best ever! And if you get it delivered it arrives timely and super hot!

Try the pasta dishes!!. Absolutely the best chicken fettucini and lasagna we have ever ordered from a pizza place! The lasagna was actually layered with noodles, meat sauce, and ricotta and other cheeses! You also get thick garlic CHEESE toast with each pasta order. The fettucini sauce is thick and creamy and is loaded with flavour and the chicken breast is tender and juicy. We can't wait until the new SLICE RESTO is open for business. I can only imagine that what ever they have on their new menu will be delicious. It will be nice to be able to enjoy some good food at a sit down restaurant.....NEVER CHANGE YOUR RECIPE TREVOR!

Yummy Pizza. I been there twice , I noticed people mostly order pizza , Then I ordered the same.Then I ate one of the best pizza since I am in British Columbia. Delicious, well behaviour staff. Really I will suggest place to my friend circle also.

Heaven. On a referral from family we tried their pizza 3 nights ago & it was fantastic! We had the Godfather & the OMG & both were very tasty, crust was delicious. I couldn't believe how heavy the pizzas were & loaded with toppings. We will definitely order from here again & again!

Most amazing pizza around!. Crust made several times daily is to die for! Yummy and amazing. Generous toppings and friendliest service you can hope for. I've driven 10kms to get this pizza! Well worth it!

Out of this world!. By far the best pizza we have ever ordered! We tried the Kona, and the Pulled pork pizza (not one we would normally choose) and it is seriously the best pizza I have ever had. Friendly service too! We'll be ordering there from now on!

I have tried pizza from all over Nanaimo, Vancouver, Surrey, Langley, Mission, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Maple Ridge, New West, and Burnaby. Slice Pizza is definately in the top 1% of all I have tried. Fantastic crust, the sauce is not over powering and the toppings are incredible.

Slice is Awesome!. I tried Slice a few weeks ago and I WILL be a regular. I live in town but the pizza is worth the small drive.

Yummy Yummy. The previous owners of this pizza complex have always been shady and made dull over-priced pizzas. This being said, the new owners have done an amazing job at changing its reputation! They have unique ingredients to make well-balanced pizzas, all at a reasonable price! I definitely recommend this pizza place if you're anywhere in the Cedar area. You won't be disappointed! <br/><br/><br/>PS. Cedarbrook is greasy... don't order pizza from there. Choose slice instead!

Oh my gosh. The crust is one of a kind. I have had pizza all over Canada and the USA and none compare to the "Slice". What do they do to make it soooooooooo... good? The filliings are very generous and prepared homemade.These folks know how to "feed a family" and make them come back for more....
