Famous coffee shop! It was around 5pm and D&G had difficulty finding 2 chairs to sit.
We are lucky! We got the last croissant jambon fromage. It was interesting. The taste of it is well balanced. You can taste the croissant, ham and cheese separately but the go well together. The galette avoine contains raisin and dark chocolate. Once again, it is sweet but not over powering. The expresso simple allongé is soft and lightly "velouté".
We can't wait to revisit it!
i still enjoy the place, they stay open a bit later than most indie cafés and most of all, they are quite inexpensive which is why i'm often there after work. barely pricier than the priciest italian while not going too far off the flavor wheel. while their coffee bags say larue (own branding), it is their own blend of barista, the coffee roaster and not the person pulling your coffee.
barista is not the best in term of coffee but if you're looking for classic notes, this is it. mainly notes of caramel and maybe some cocoa and depending on day, some dates. can go from very to not too bitter and is at times, quite strong. of course, it all depends on the barista handy work.
place is usually packed through the day, all week long. weather do influence foot traffic. after 530pm, it tends to die down but of course, it depends. more truer during mid-terms, finals.
want a perfect cup of barista? go when le porte-filtre (grégoire) is there. you can follow him on IG and you'll know when he's in.
finally, they are the best café doing barista coffee in the city
almost forgot, they got a new system in place so debit card will be accepted in a very near future. still working out the kinks
ps. they do not have drip/filter. you can ask for more water in your espresso or americano but i wouldn't recommend it. it's not the same at all
Beau décor chaleureux, personnel sympathique, mais le plus important, c'est le café! Mon latte était très acide, trop pour moi. Par contre, le chocolat chaud est succulent! :) Je voulais essayer et je pense que j'irai ailleurs pour mon latte. Argent comptant.
Spacious.
We walked along the funky blue patterned sidewalk approaching the corner of Henri-Julien and De Castelnau. Alas….coffee.
Taking shelter from the rain, we hurried inside. Customers were typing away on their laptops while others indulged in fresh press. The cloudy day made the space feel cozy.
A long counter bordered by white tiling supported goodies and coffee orders. The lights hung low while bar stools and tall tables covered the floor. As always, the off white walls made for a clean and open look.
My latte arrived, complete with latte art creaminess. Once the rain had stopped, we took to outside. Metal tables and white chairs provided seating. A flower box providing a spray of colour added life to a gloomy day. Église Saint-Cécile’s church bells rang and we lost ourselves in conversation.
What’s next?
Cheers,

My dream has always been to develop a good relationship with my coffee providers so that they remember what I want before I order, and while this happened once in Namur, I am working VERY hard to repeat the experience here. I love the fact that it's 2 mins from my house and that the latté is always on point. The décor is gorgeous (if you can sit, it's really busy) and the croissants are tasty!
Great local hangout situated on a street corner in a residential area. Cozy spot for espresso with a few tables outside. Friendly staff. Lots of locals. Excellent coffee.
Bon spot dans le quartier. Ils utilisent un café italien importé qu'ils achatent au Magasin Mali. Le seul hic c'est qu'on est presqu'en 2014 et ils obligent leurs clients à payer cash...! Come on.
