Fast food on Plateau Mont-Royal. The name of LES BELLES SOEURS comes from a play by playwright and novelist Michel Tremblay. This author is so well known inside Quebec, his books are mandatory readings in the highschools of Quebec. Most of Tremblay`s playground territory is located on the Plateau Mont-Royal where resto Les Belles Soeurs is located.
Les Belles Soeurs offers basic fast food offerings within this lower middle class Plateau`s surroundings.
Over the entrance there is an air conditiioning unit appropriate for one appartment but not strong enough for the size of this restaurant. A puddle ot water coming from the air conditioning lies on the ground when I got inside the restaurant.
The chef who prepares the meal is young. Instead of a hairnet, the chef wears a red tuque with a longer head that makes a wave, reminiscent of the three color tuque with long neck, worn by the patriots of 1763.
The food is very good. The house specialty is a burger made from ground lamb. The meat patty is served within a hot fresh bun. The french fries are perfect. I believe they are one of the best we can find in Montreal. I find them better than at La PARYSE ( which is one of the most popular reference for french fries in Montreal ) but Paryse offers too many bits and crumbs of fries that are overly cooked.
One burger, the house specialty of the Belles Soeurs with fries and one natural apple juice will cost you $14. Fairly priced but not exactly inexpensive.

This is one of the most oddly shaped burgers I've ever seen or tried. Both the top and bottom bun kinda look fake but I can assure you that they taste just fine. The emmental cheese
