After a long and late night out with the boys, we were in desperate need of food, any food. Someone came up with the brilliant idea to get pho so we decided to try Pho Do Thi. It's located in between Soupesoup and Restaurant Le Tpe Food.
We dropped in on a Saturday (around 12:45pm). Lucky, there's tons of room so we had no trouble grabbing three seperate tables for our group. Service is slow and oddly, they don't have chopsticks or spoons on the table. You have to ask for them. The menu is a concise two pages: appetizers, pho and lunch express options.
- Pho dac biet (S1) ($11.50 large) - rare beef, well done flank, soft tendon, beef balls and tripe. Broth had good flavour and depth. I must have been starving because I devoured the noodles and could have ate another bundle.
- Bun bo hue (S7) ($12.00 large) - spicy beef noodle soup. One buddy at our table decided to try their BBH. I didn't have a taste but it looked good.
Solid Vietnamese spot. Stick to the pho options.
Excellent!. I tried the grilled chicken, crispy noodles and vegetables and I loved it!
The chicken was cooked to perfection and the vegetables were fresh.
I will definitely come back!
Awesome!. Essayez la soupe Tonkinoise au poulet! C'est 2-3 fois par mois pour moi! pour 9$ c'est imbattable
Fresh!. Very tasty food, try the crispy noodle with chicken and vegetables, it's the best you'll have in years! Fresh, not greasy, very tasty food, I really recommend this place!
Excellent food for very cheap!. The crispy noodles are crispy, not greasy, and the meat is tender, savoury, and perfectly prepared. I particularly liked that, for a downtown asian restaurant, this place is light, plentiful with the vegetables, and avoids the greasy deep-fried trap that a lot of quick asian lunch stops fall into. The presentation is lovely and the service is also fairly quick. The only criticism I can think of is that the mini soup is fairly ordinary, and the dishes include some non-traditional vegetables (such as cauliflower), but on the whole, this place is a real gem.
The broth had a cardboard taste to it, not sure how else to explain it.. their ingredients are high quality, I could tell by the meat and great coffee. The service was exceptional, amazing staff!! But the broth... it really killed it for me unfortunately..
Seems like a family restaurant. Service is on point but don't expect it to be super fast. Taxes are included in the prices, and it remains affordable in overall. You can aim for combos or pick specific meals and they are definitely tasty. Recommended 100%
Friendly greeting from the staff, classical music, soft light, good stuff. But the reason to return is the stirfry on crispy noodles. Wow. Pick your meat, chicken, beef, shrimp, you can't go wrong. It's all perfectly cooked and appetizingly presented. Even the imperial roll was a cut above. What can I say, it exceeded my expectations!
Went the first time on September 15. Excellent food service. I had the general Tao and my daughter also but a little more spicy and very good, my wife had the beef, chicken and shrimp, the wonton soup good. I recommend and for the price you eat very well.
Excellent food and very nice staff... I would go back over and over!
For me, this is clearly the best Pho around UQAM. The services is friendly and casual. The price is more then fair for the quantity and taste (the lunch menu goes for about 15$ and the regular menu goes for about 20-25 ... Both counting appetizers).
Soup is really good. The spring rolls is not that good, sauce could be also better.
