Review Pikolo Espresso Bar - Montreal

Julia L
Great local coffee shop for espresso and baked goods. Love the seating area over looking the baristas! The staff have always been super kind, and go above and beyond to make sure the drinks are just to customers likings. There’s also a fabulous stationary store next door!

We came to Pikolo multiple times when staying downtown. The coffee was outstanding, as was the croissant we shared. The baristas were all very kind as well. We would definitely come back in the future!

Good spot. Had a kimchi cheese bake and London fog. Both were good. The location is right near my office. Hopefully will visit in the future.

A great place for coffee and baked items! But I don't think they offer WiFi. There is also seating in the balcony.

Went there plenty of times. The coffee was consistently great. Will forever remember it as the place where i had my last sip of coffee in Montreal. I highly recommend this place for coffee lovers. Oh yes and the pastries were great too!

Took small mocha and latte this time. Creamy and out of the world once again. If you live around mcgill ghetto, this place is a must try.

Took a lemonade tea with a muffin biscuit one time, and took the macha/strawberry croissant on another day. I would say that overall, service is really slow, there was only a person working for 5 customers in line (both times). The food and drink that I took were fine. The blueberry biscuit was hard like rock (which was not really enjoyable to eat), but the croissant was really delicious. I highly recommend that croissant, even if it's quite expensive (5,25$). Tea was good, but overexpensive for the size in my opinion.

Go here almost 3x a week. Really enjoy their espresso and cold brew. They have good scones as well. Convinient spot to just grab a drink on the go! No wifi though so can't work there unfortunately.

We stopped in for a coffee soon after checking into our hotel. It’s a charming, small and intimate spot, with wooden floors and vintage wooden tables and chairs. It has an intentional “worn-in and cozy” feeling.

We ordered a superb latte and cappuccino - the latte in particular was impressive as it can be a fail in many shops. Here it still manages to be rich and robust - reminded us of Europe. Croissants are fantastic! Buttery and crispy, with a light chewy Center. If you’re in the neighbourhood this is a great place to stop.

Discovered today the Cutest coffee shop in the plateau!
The decor and ambiance is charming!
Had a latte and a chocolatine, both were on point!

I'm not exactly sure why this cafe is highly rated, but being my last day in Montreal, I wanted to take full advantage of all the local favorites ... even on a cold, wet day. The cafe is situated in a "less desirable" area of the city, and can be easily missed if one is not paying attention. I don't like to judge as some of the best city gems are basically holes in the walls of old buildings. It's a narrow cafe, so seating can be an issue if you're with a group of friends. I ordered a hot chocolate; simple and comforting. It came served in a short glass .. strange I thought, but maybe it was all a part of the appeal. To my surprise, it consisted mostly of frothy chocolate foam. I didn't realize I needed to specify the milk to foam ratio 😒😖😣 At least the service was friendly and prompt, and the panhandlers parked next door weren't aggressive.

Omg!

tiny coffee shop on the outskirt of quartier des spectacles/place des arts that offers amongst other things, 49th parallel coffee. they do have 2 other roasters (phil & sebastian and i don't remember the other) on hand but i was served 49th. you can't mistake the taste of it. its simply great coffee.

as for the place itself, its tiny, feels very crammed. there's a 2nd floor with tables but other than that, its more for a quick coffee stop than a lounge around kind of coffee especially more true since the wifi has been cut (or is about to). good or bad? well, there's so many coffee shops in that stretch of park avenue that one does wonder if its the best of decision. at least, turnover rate is a lot higher, from the 20 minutes i was there.

anyway, if you're looking for great coffee in the QDS/PDA area, this is the place. if you're simply looking for great coffee around town, well, since they offer 49th parallel, i wouldn't go out of my way for it since Myriade offers it as well. and same thing about Moineau Masqué and Le Couteau. and i would never go out of my way for Phil & Sebastian but if in the area, yes, worth going.

One of the better coffee places in montreal

The pikolo latte is brewed nicely and the latte was pretty nice too. The design on the foam was very detailed and crisp too which makes for a nice photo :p

I had a very mediocre double long espresso here and was disappointed given the reviews. The coffee tasted very sour and acidic and maybe people like that taste but I didn't. Oh well

Had been told that Pikolo had the best espresso in town, and after staying long enough that I had an espresso and a latte, I have no reason to believe this isn't true! Coconut lemon scone was also a nice treat. It's a small space, so either be prepared to take your coffee to go, or come off peak hours...whenever that might be. Worth a stop for sure.

Best latte I've had in Canada! Liked the decor, apart from the leaky ceiling where I was sitting. If you're a coffee connoisseur I highly recommend this place if you're in Montreal!

Nothing in particular. Well at least it doesn't upset me... I guess I should of heat up the croissant and scone would taste better. Well, I might go back again and try other things.

Visited Montreal today and this was our first stop. Very overpriced but the coffee was excellent. The amount of coffee given was way too little and the humidity inside the cage was unbearable. The staff as well rushed my order and made it less enjoyable. Overall good but wouldn't suggest to anyone.

This small cafe on du Parc is a great place to grab your caffeine fix on any given day. I've come here for take out coffee, to sit in and chat, and also to work on my studies with some food and coffee. Though there is a second floor, the cafe can be quite cramped because it is narrow and kinda small, so it can be really hard to find space to sit at.
The coffee for my taste is quite acidic, so if you get sick from too much caffeine or acidity, try their tea selection. Aside from the drinks, their food is quite good as well!

One of my favourite cafes to go to on a regular basis. It is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Montreal, and the service is awesome here too. They served excellent espresso-based beverages.

Usually my visits to Montreal centre around food. Thus to maximize the experience, I like to plan stops at cafes and bakeries en route from one meal to the next. We stopped at Pikolo Espresso Bar to grab an afternoon coffee and croissant. Ok so only I had a croissant. Both The Fiance and my cousin were still full from breakfast, amateurs. The independent cafe is located in between universities and is a small space.

On revient.

Learn to make Espresso. Please do not call yourself an 'espresso bar', when that's the one thing you do not know how to make. A real espresso does not take an hour to drink, does not taste like a dozen roses and is not watery!
Your lattes are excellent and you should be applauded for that, but please do not pretend like you are good at espressos.
Go visit Italy or Spain to see what a real espresso is like. For that matter, you can even go to Little Italy here to learn.

Disappointed...

I had a London fog. It was good, but had virtually no sweetness to it; I've had better.
The place looks great and staff is very friendly...
HOWEVER
The acoustics are horrible, the down stairs is loud and I find it impossible to program or even read. It's also very cramp... I was sitting at one of the tables glued to the left wall... It was so uncomfortable I had to leave.

Great service, drinks, ambience. Awful acoustics and unless you can work listening to loud echoey rock and roll I recommend working elsewhere.

I mean... Room is too small to even fix.
It's good... I just couldn't work or read here.

Best coffee AND best pastries in Montreal. Pikolo's coffee quality is a given but since I got pregnant and developed a sweet tooth I didn't have before I realized that Pikolo's sweets, breads and pastries are sincerely THE BEST in the whole of Montreal..
They are seriously ingenious, original and sooooo good!

A solid little espresso bar.. This is a no frills espresso bar. The do have free WiFi. They have a few pastry style snacks including some good gluten free options. The cappuccino was truly memorable. The small cappuccino has the prefect ratio of milk to espresso (strong). The flavor was great too

The vibe is as warm as the coffee :). If you are looking for a combination of good coffee and study-read ambiance, then Pikolo is one of these places where studying becomes less stressful...

Great cafe tucked onto Ave du Parc. Has a beautiful, busy room with a nice ambiance. The day I visited one of the baristas was so friendly, and chatted me up while I ordered. I got a long espresso, which was really tasty. Definitely acidic--would've been more to my liking with an ounce or two of hot water--but very good, with a nice thickness.

This is a place that doesn't fit tons of people, so, like a couple of previous reviews say, don't go with a group of people unless you want drinks to go. But it has two tops (tables) and bar space. It is a nice place to sit and enjoy conversation, people watching, or a book. Oh yeah, and a coffee!

Pikolo Espresso Bar. Very cute little place with great atmosphere, and, most importantly, fantastic coffee! Be forewarned though, there isn't much in the way of seating so you may have to take it to go during busier hours.

My favorite hot lattes and cappuccino in Montreal. You can't go wrong!

Charming, Authentic & Way Tasty. I stumbled onto Pikolo Espresso Bar while strolling Parc street. This turned out to be my 2011 discovery of the year. It's humble facade hides a beautiful cafe, styled with old blast lamps and other vintage pieces. The charm of this place doesn't stop at it's interior stylings; the owner is a ray of sunshine that will light up your day. With stock from Handsome Coffee Roasters and Phil & Sebastian Coffee Roasters, you can count on a phenomenal cup of java. Try their ristretto shot; the best in town in my opinion.

Very nice espresso. Day 3 in montreal - best shot thus far.
untapered double - poured nicely. quite bright.
good start to the day.

Small and charming. I traveled to many places, and latte is what I usually get. And I must say that latte here was amazing. It was very flavorful but not too strong that you want a glass of water right after. I don't add sugar to my coffee, but if you like, there is a self serve counter. It's better to put your own sugar in my opinion.

Pikolo Espresso Bar has been getting a lot of love lately from Montreal. This little spot is located near the McGill ghetto and is usually crammed with students enjoying a brew or even studying in the back. It has that Montreal hipster look but the love that it gets is for one simple reason: they have really good coffee!

When I had a coffee at Pikolo for the first time last summer, my americano was sour to my taste. I talked to the barista and he told me it was the first day to start using that specific kind of coffee bean and let me try drip coffee instead. (Enjoy more than 30 photos!)

Pikolo is a Hip Espresso Bar that is tiny on space but big on flavour. They have a nice selection of pastries that are freshly baked on the premises and a bold, delicious coffee!

Pikolo Expresso Bar is my favourite among all of them. Their pastries, latte and london fog are the best! Jaye and I went there for a study/music sesh this Monday. I spent the whole afternoon studying for finals while he was listening to music on his ipod. We ordered orange chocolate scone (I could taste the orange zest in it!), banana chocolate bread and some tea and it was a very nice afternoon treat. Pikolo also bake their pastries freshly in store and the smell of the buttery cookies were almost too hard to resist (I spent the entire minute staring at the tray of cookies from upstairs…). Pikolo has been my (not so) secret study spot since it opened two summers ago. The only downside is that it’s usually really packed and it’s a bit hard to find a seat. So it’s best to go there ear

Montreal is a beautiful city with a lot of cool spots for excellent coffee, and this place has everything you need: free wifi, adorable and talented staff with striped shirts, warm lattes, cold brew, gluten-free (and just delicious regular

We found a great cafe near Place-des-Art Metro, called "Pikolo." I was hesitant to introduce the cafe, because I wanted to keep it to myself as a secret place :P The place is a bit hidden. You might pass by without noticing if you don't know about it. It looks really small from the outside, but it's actually surprisingly roomy! They even have a little "indoor terrace." My boyfriend got a large Cappuccino and I got a small Mochachino. We shared a chocolate croassant and a regular croassant. You will know the difference when you sip their coffee! You can really savour the flavour of the coffee. The coffee and the atmosphere resembles that of Café Myriade . Apparently the owners are friends. That's why!! There are many great cafes in Montreal, but I might have to say that Pikolo could be the favorite. It's also really close to where we live and they make great coffee like Café Myriade. I'll probably be going there more often! They give you not only a great cup of coffee but also a relax

Walking - no, running in from the harsh winter winds whipping up a frenzy outside, we entered the toasty coffee shop with great relief, ready to be brought back to life by a cup of hot something.

Swing the door open, take a deep breath and let the homely smell of coffee lead the way…

It’s only May, but it seems like 2013 has been a long year already. With Memorial Day approaching, I knew I wanted to find a place to escape to that required little travel, but made me feel like I was far away from all of the hectic happenings at work and in Washington, DC. My friend Judy and I started doing some research, and we quickly settled on Montreal. With a direct flight from DCA and only about 1:20 of flight time, this seemed like the perfect long weekend getaway with some European flair. We took off late Friday night and arrived to a cold, dark, and rainy Montreal. While the city is beautiful (especially Old Montreal lined with adorable cafés and restaurants), we unfortunately were stuck with terrible weather the entire weekend. While this normally has the ability to ruin a trip, nothing was ruined because there were so many amazing restaurants and food options that we were able to eat, drink, and be merry even in the midst of rain and cold. Some of our favorite spots from th
