Review Restaurant Les Pyrenees - Montreal

I had been craving for Spanish food for 6 months and wouldn’t regret come here! The staff were very friendly. Food was excellent! Desserts were super delicious as well. I will definitely come back next time.

My husband and I visited Les Pyrénées restaurant for our anniversary on a Saturday night. We actually walked right by it at first as it is an unassuming place with simple and clean decor. Our server was exceptionally friendly, funny, and trilingual. I think we impressed him with how much we consumed. We ordered the goat cheese salad, the paella, calamari, braised lamb, and a bottle of wine. We also split a delicious dessert of stuffed profiteroles. Every bite was heavenly, you could taste the love put in the food. Presentation was excellent, beautiful and unpretentious. The ingredients were fresh and well paired. We adored every item we ordered and found it fairly priced considering the level of quality. I would (and have) recommend this place to anyone who wants a taste of true Catalonia in the beautiful old port of Montréal. Five stars without question. We will certainly be back.

Came in off the street and was immediately seated. Staff was attentive and regularly stopped by to attend to my needs. My meal was absolutely delicious from the French onion soup, to the desert. Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Quaint restaurant with huge flavor

Nice ambiance, in a very cute street. They have affordable lunch specials, everything was looking simple and good. I believe we were just unlucky by the Time frame that we chose to have lunch (3pm). The service was painful, just a lonely server attending the place. I powered through with the best white sangria I had in ages. I had a very good goat cheese salad with palm of hearts( you must have) and a very light prawn dish, my partner on the other hand had a buttery bean dish well made ( you need to be in the mood to eat a lot of beans in order to like this one) lol 😆.

Came here on a Christmas dinner. Place was easy to reserve (despite the $20 per head reservation deposit [you will get it back]). I appreciated the minor service perks such as the coat check, very nice to not have to eat too bundled up. The paella and risotto, while enjoyable, was a bit too oily for my tastes, and I personally was not a fan. I did like it, but it wasn’t mind blowing. The French onion soup was delicious, and along with the complimentary bread, were the most memorable parts of the meal.

The food was great, definitely one time visit worth. It was -10 C and we had french onion soup which was great. The seared scallops starter is also great. The service was great as well but 4 stars only because it felt a little rushed for a place which is fine dine. Server came to collect my plate before I was done, LOL... but overall definitely worth a visit.

Fantastic Catalan restaurant. Good menu of delicious dishes and drinks. Duck leg was very tasty and the paella was fantastic, and large enough for two to share. French onion soup was also well done and not too salty. Overall a great place for some awesome food.

Food here was excellent, and the service was as well! We really enjoyed the mixed meat plate, as well as many of the other dishes we tried. The ambience was also nice, a bit quaint and tight, but still enjoyable.

Our waiter was very patient and helpful, the food was elegantly prepared and excellent amid delightful dinner music. My vegetarian dish was even healthy. The soup portion was generous and the orange cake with chocolate was a perfect ending. It was the highlight of my evening and maybe Montreal, and that's saying a lot since I performed internationally for the first time the night before. Oooh, and the digestif!

Very good Spanish restaurant in Old Montreal. Staff are great. Wine list is pretty good. Nice lively place to dine. We very much enjoyed our dinner.

Wow, what a lucky McGill graduate dinner. Owner Carlos sat down at the table with us, every waiter and waitress was personal and friendly, and the food was trop excellent! Just wow.

We went here for lunch today. The staff was fantastic! They had great suggestions not only on the food but also what to do around old Montreal. The food was excellent and they even went as far as to make a poutine for my son even though it was not a menu item. Simply great.

Have to say, went on New Years Eve, had high hopes. Got there early, was seated at the bar for a drink. Got to our table, ordered a delicious shrimp risotto, and then there was some confusion. Due to a mixup between waiters, our order got delayed by a little more than a hour. They apologized, but the food came out a little flat. Both my date and I were disappointed, but we chalked it up to a busy night. The next day, Carlos (owner or manager?) called me to find out what happened. Was very polite over the phone, and reimbursed my whole meal AND is sending me a gift card via the mail. To me, this goes above and beyond customer satisfaction! Shows that they truly care about the customer. It was my first time going to this restaurant, but will say, will not be my last! Thank you for taking swift action and to 100% rectifying a poor and unfortunate situation! Happy 2018!

This came highly recommended by our concierge. It was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant was nestled in the Old City down a lovely street. The food was well prepared and beautiful. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. There were even wonderful vegetarian options, so the non-meat eaters in our party didn't feel like their meal was an afterthought. Well done.

Outstanding food, and service is above and beyond. I highly recommend Les Pyrénées. Vous êtes le meilleur de tout Montréal!

Excellent experience. Great food, amazing young chef from Quebec City. A pleasant surprise discovering this gem 💎. We were in Montreal for the Victoria Day long weekend. We were a table of 7 and each one of us walked away more than satisfied! Well done. Honorable mention to our waitress that knew the menu inside out and suggested wine pairings for each dish. Good job for someone that was hired just 2 weeks ago. When in Montreal we will be coming back for sure.

The duck was amazing; great portion sizes (not obscene but good) but the decor is a little empty and he crème brûlé was just OK. But the service was GREAT.

AMAZING! Hidden gem at the front (or back) end of St. Paul., accidentally stumbled into this French restaurant and we were Stunned by the great service, excellent menu and tastes, for those frugal like me appreciated the excellent value$

We have been going there for 13 years and have never had a bad meal. Atmosphere and service are excellent!

Excellent quality meal and service. Inviting ambience and personal attention.
Montreal Foo Foodie
Restaurant Les Pyrenees, in Old Montreal marked its 15th year anniversary last year, amid a big fanfare event honoring their 15 years of service and fine reviews honoring its hospitality. For some of us it has flown under the radar for many years and is virtually obscure. For many Montreal foodies, Les Pyrenees, sounds like a tourist trap and before we venture to its tables, we would rather try something else that is buzz worthy.

I came here as part of an invite. The service was fantastic and the vibes were cool. I tried some tapas, including Spanish omelette, cod fritters, and chorizo stuffed dates. Pretty yummy! My fave bite of the night was the ceviche (amazing), along with the slow-cooked lamb main.

Unfortunately, the star of the night - the paella - had some overcooked seafood, probably because of the huge quantity they made for the special night. The presentation of the paella was a showstopper for sure, and the flavour of the saffron rice mixing in with the seafood was decadent.

We ended the night with 2 dessert choices, one featuring strawberries and pink peppercorns, while the other was an orange gateau. To be honest, I disliked both desserts, with the gateau being bland, while the pink peppercorns were so obnoxious, they left a bad taste in my mouth!

I had a wonderful time with great service and presentation but the food was just not for me... The restaurant itself is located in the Old Port and perfect for date night since it's trendy but not too fancy.

While we didn't have a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and seated at a lovely table. Moreover, while, initially there were just two of us, our party grew to five and the restaurant amiably accommodated us. The menu is Basque-Catalan and there was a very good selection. I had a seafood pasta that was absolutely delicious with a very generous selection of shellfish. The meals of all my fellow diners looked great too and the consensus was that the meals were excellent. All in all, the restaurant offered delicious food, wine, and excellent service. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Les Pyrenees.

The service was wonderful. This is a family owned and run restaurant. I ordered the seafood pasta and was delighted. My husband ordered the pork stew and devoured it. We are not easily pleased because we come from New Orleans where food is always great.

Great service and ambience, mediocre food. Warm little restaurant with very nice staff let down by disappointing food. Tasteless seafood, Chorizo and sun-dried tomato replaced by pepperoni and tinned tomatoes.

Not real spanish. The restaurant itself is nic and cozy, there is a good atmosphere and located in a prime location on St Paul. I don't understand though why they put TVs in the restaurant, it's distracting and not really appropriate in my opinion, it's not a sports bar or steakhouse.

At first glance the menu lacks focus with mix of French and Spanish plates. We took Goat cheese salad and Scallops for appetizers with Paella, Arzuella and boudin noir for entrees. The paella (the specialty apparently!) is not a real paella, but more of a seafood risotto with saffron. Overall the food is unimpressive, we found each plate to be relatively bland and not at all reflecting the real culture behind the plates: it's no good French cuisine and definitely not Spanish.

Even though nothing was bad, there wasn't anything to fancy about in the food. We paid about $250 for 3, which I find is a bit much for what we think is standard cuisine. It might be harsh, but for me it's just an ordinary restaurant without any signature in the execution and for that I give a negative review.

My Go-To restaurant in Montreal - A ne pas manquer!. Friendly service, food with good nuances, professional presentation and great decor and atmosphere. Reminds us of fine European bistros. Like a few of the other reviewers, we stumbled onto this restaurant a few years ago. Now, it is our premier destination in Montreal, when we are in town from Ottawa. We go to Old Montreal because of Les Pyrénées.

Amazing Food & Service!. We came across this quaint restaurant while walking late (about 10pm) along the streets in Old Montreal. When we stopped to read the menu, the server from inside stepped out the door and asked if we had any questions about the menu, which we thought was very considerate. After choosing to give it a try, we were greeted with superb service and a relaxing atmosphere. The salad and soup appetizers were both delicious, large portions as well, found it difficult to finish them and leave room for the rest of a meal! The chicken and steak plates we enjoyed as well as a light fruit & puff pastry dessert. The entire meal was enjoyable and not rushed by our server, who gave us lots of time between courses to digest even though we were the only remaining customers of the evening. Each dish was presented beautifully, and tasted as good as it looked!
We appreciated the fine service and incredible meal we experienced at this restaurant and would highly recommend it to anyone, we look forward to returning to enjoy another evening!

All-around pretty good!. I went to Les Pyrenees just as it opened at 4pm on a Sunday. I found the service very pleasant and the food excellent. Having been to a couple of other upscale restaurants in Montreal where servings are miniscule, I was happy to find appropriate-sized servings here. I had the king-sized prawns with squid turret followed by the orange cake (with berries) that comes with melted chocolate for dipping (the desert being a suggestion from the waiter). Quality was very good.

The service is good, but I wldn't say the food is...u don't know what Spanish foodis abt if u say that the food is good there?!

Back to Les Pyrénnées. It’s always nice to return to Les Pyrénnées in Montreal. There are many fine restaurants In the Old Port, but when you know exactly how good a place will be, it brings you back.

An almost perfect recent meal for two: A couple of glasses of wine each; cauliflower and turnip soup / Catalan-style tapas. Two fish dishes - one cod and the other mackerel. Dessert of Catalan orange cake/ crème brùlée. Coffee and a complimentary dessert wine to finish.

The service was as we remembered – knowledgeable and reserved. One small complaint I would mention (though I didn’t share it with the restaurant, so it couldn’t have been too important!) was that the my hot food was served on unheated plates. Please review this annoying practice, LP.

I would recommend the restaurant unreservedly – even if you only stop in and have the orange cake for dessert, it will be a worthwhile visit!

Very good food. I had duck and scallops. Service was informative, professional and near perfect. No interrupting to ask if you enjoyed the food. I'd return to try the rest of the menu. Open at 5 pm. Which means time to eat before the theatre.

We came across this little gem after walking around the city. Excellent service and brilliant food. It can be a bit pricey but it is very very good value for money. The paella was tasty and pretty big! Highly recommend it.

A GEM in Old Montreal. Lovely place... wonderful ambience. They have a very extensive menu. Was there as a group of four and two of us tried their set dinners and two ordered a la carte. Shared muscles to starts. VERY good soup came with the muscles- dipped bread into it.
Set dinner appitizers, tried puff pastry and the cold tomato soup... both very delicious! The soup was very refreshing, not heavy at all.
Main courses... the duck breast wasn't great, too dry. Ordered stuffed squids, but they messed up my order and made grilled calamari instead. They gave me that main too, on the house. OMG was it delicious!!! I don't even recall seeing this dish on the menu! Then came my stuffed squids, which also AMAZING! Think it was pork inside with herbs. Both dishes came with alot of grilled vegetables.
Since i had two mains i was too full to have their dark chocolate cake. so i had their red berries bavarois. I'm not a huge mousse person, but i liked this one alot. Very light and not too sweet. Can taste the freshness of the berries, which went great with my coffee.
Definitely try this restaurant if you are going to Montreal!!!

Having been to Spain twice and enjoying paella in it's prime, this place brings me right back there

Pyrenees. The food was good, not great. One good waiter, one not so good one. Other things on menu looked better than the 12 hr lamb dish I got and the dessert I got was only okay (profiterole). They never arrived with my coffee while I was eating my dessert so I asked that they not bring it. Perhaps as an apology I was brought a small serving of dessert wine on the house. I'd try this restaurant again given the other reviews and the look of some of the other dishes. I would recommend it despite my mediocre experience for the same reason.

Excelent. We went there for our anniversary and it was superb food, service and ambiance...

Great little spot for lunch!. This is one of my go-to destinations in the old port. I have always been able to get a table, the food has always been flavorful and fresh, there is always at least one dish on the table d'hote that whets my gluten-sensitive, lactose-intolerant, fish-loving appetite. Unfailingly nice presentation and lovely service. I keep going back and am consistently pleased.

The food here is exceptionally good but the service was off when I went. It was just nor fluid and ssemless like it should be. The night ended with the waitor forgetting our dessert. I give it 7/10. The food made up for it.

Great food- appetizer salad with goat cheese bruchetta was fabulous- chorizo risotto was incredible. We're returning tomorrow it was so good.

Cute little place. Lamb and pork ribs pretty good- would have again. What you have to try is the saffron mussel soup. It was too good. The little waitress gave good service- she was so cute i would have eaten and liked whatever she brought to the table.

In a nutshell, I absolutely loved the atmosphere and the staff. All very friendly and willing to give you the best dinner they can! But the food needs more work. I'll give it a second chance as the menu still offers a very vast array of interesting dishes
