Really loved the food and service at this place.. the server was so helpful in helping me pick a dish that I would really like... We were seated right away and it is amazing authentic Indian food ❤️It!!! The dessert was amazing... we had the gulab Jamun. 👍
I can't recommend this restaurant enough. Every aspect of our meal from the food to the service was perfect.
The food was amazing and we had good white wine. The staff was friendly and payed attention to our needs.
Our last dinner in Montreal was absolutely delicious and when we couldn't take the leftovers, the owner asked us to give it to the homeless, which we did. What a wonderful evening we had. Highly recommend Darbar Montreal to anyone planning on being here!
I've had Indian from all across Canada and the U.S. This is hands down the best I've EVER had. Fantastic setting and (family) staff. A must go!
Words cannot adequately express how great the food is at Darbar. Service was fantastic. What an excellent and wonderful place. World class!
Best ever ..had wonderful time .we we're 16 people but still service and food was super se bhi upper ..
Still a fabulously authentic Indian family run place. Great food, service and ambiance. Good prices too.
This is THE best !! Amazing and delicious indian food
Petit resto authentique, menu très bien détaillé, excellent service. Nourriture extraordinaire!! À refaire absolument!
Small restaurant with nicely decorated interior. Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious food. Reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend this resto to others!
Food was exceptional, the staff was fast and friendly. Not pricey at all. You can eat at the table, on coussin or outside. Discovered a delicious drink called shikanjvi. 60$ for 2 people with beverages, starter and main course.
Service was great. Our food came promptly and was delicious! I plan on returning when the outdoor patio is open!
Love this place, food is great and atmosphere is relaxing.
awesome place, super cool vibe, and great authentic menu!
Humble, family owned indian restaurant. Smells like home cooking when you walk in. Friendly service. Great food, hot and fresh. They also deliver.
Among the handful of Indian restaurants that CBD Montreal has - this one stands out for its authenticity and taste. Located on Boul St Laurent, this place is capable of pulling patrons by the mere fragrance of the food that they cook.
4 of us visited this place on a Sunday evening which was unusually crowded, we were put on the wait list and had to endure standing outside in the cold for good 20 minutes. Dal, Breads and Cauliflower were very delicious.Having said that, the place is way too small and it CANNOT handle more than 15 people at a time (10 if you ask me). One should be prepared for long waits and consequently a rather quick meal - this is probably not a place where you would go to have a relaxed meal.
Darbar has significantly changed since 2013 when I was last year. Food quality has remained just as great as always. This evening we went with a large group, everyone loved the food, no complaints whatsoever.

Divine North Indian cuisine in this small restaurant tucked in between surplus shops on St. Laurent. The most elegant menus we have seen anywhere, but the food is spiced just right and reasonably priced. We had Thali plates with a pleasing variety of Punjabi dishes. Service was excellent on a Sunday evening. If you're looking for fine South Asian cuisine near the Quarter de Spectacles, you won‘t be disappointed.
Good but small portion. .
Some of the best Indian food I've ever had. It's family run and you can tell right away; from the decorative menu to the delicious food, someone's heart and soul was poured into this place. We had the Palak paneer and butter chicken (not very adventurous, but that's how I've come to measure) and our only complaint is that we would have preferred endless portions because we couldn't get enough. Didn't really notice the actual restaurant because I was too busy stuffing my face, but I think it was nice and authentic?... The service was definitely fantastic though and some of the most friendly restaurant owners/operators I've ever met. Will defs be back for more (unless they start delivering to Vancouver)!
Food was great, nice portion and quality too :)
Best indian restaurant in montreal!. The best indian food we've had in montreal so far!..nice and quaint place.
Wonderful first meal in Montreal. Made a reservation online, arrived, table was ready. Service was very attentive and courteous, despite the fairly busy dinner hour. Our water glasses were never empty and the waiter (manager?) was very helpful with navigation of the menu. I had the Thali, a sampler of several dishes, all of which I'd gladly order a full plate. I could have bathed in the Madras sauce! Plenty of kick for someone like me who likes a lot of spice, but not enough to have any ill effects afterwards. I was told by my companion that the shrimp tandoori was also delicious - plentiful when it came to shrimp - but I was too full to sample it.
We only have wonderful things to say about our dining experience at Darbar!
Favorite Indian in montreal, no need to go to jean talon.
Visiting from Vancouver, enjoyed a lovely atmosphere and wonderful, helpful and friendly staff! The thali was a great option as it provided us with samples of different items that we usually wouldn't try on our own. Definitely worth checking out!
If you like Indian food, this place is excellent. What I like about Darbar is the service. I had 8 people at the restaurant, the staff was kind and patient. Everyone had dietary restrictions and the staff accommodated all of us. I was very impressed and would bring a group any day.
You won't be disapointed. Best Indian food I've had so far. Was a wonderful meal and the service was delightful and warm. Will certainly return again, again and again.
What a find!
Came here because of all the great reviews. I am so happy I did!!!! Food was wonderful (had the butter chicken thali) it came with a tandoori drumstick as one of the sides as well, so was really happy about that. service is warm and friendly and the place is small and cozy. Love it!!!!
Fantastic. One of my top five dining experiences.
Service was excellent - charming and warm, but more importantly the food was divine. We were six, and so got to taste a wide variety of dishes - the Rogan Josh was lightly spiced, full of flavour; the Balti dishes were a bit hotter than I've had before, but not so hot as to become unpleasant. The Madras curry was complex and warming, and three of us had the Thali - two meat, one veg - which were all spectacular; the meat consisting of a chicken curry, a lentil sauce, a tandoori chicken, a veg side, a papadum, rice, and naan - a very good portion, but not so large as to leave you hating yourself. Dessert of Ras malai and Gulab Jamun were perfect; soothing and calming and a delightful end to the meal.
Upon completion, we were presented with a Mukhwas that leaves you with a very pleasant mouthfeel for hours. I'll definitely be back - the ambiance, food, and service were all top notch.
Only get the thali. My wife and I ordered a thali each. Food tasted great but portions were for children. I am not joking. I ordered a butter chicken as I was still hungry. The butter chicken had 4-5 pieces of small chicken - no rice, no bread. For $12 + taxes, you expect more. So I also ordered a side of garlic indian bread. Ended up paying close to $20 just for the butter chicken and garlic bread. Do I recommend the place? Yes, but do no order the butter chicken, it's a RIP OFF.
What a gem!. My boyfriend and I dined here for the first time and we both absolutely loved it. We both got the thalis which were priced very well and were delicious! The mango lassi was also awesome. The restaurant has such a warm ambiance and pleasant service. Will definitely return soon. Thank you!
I will return!. A small cozy place, worth the wait for a table!!! The food is excellent !!! I like the fact that I could get served in French!
I will go back for sure, I have tried other Indian restaurant but the DarBar Is unique!
If you do go and the place is crowded wait for a table... You will not be disappointed!
Quaint place with outstanding service. The Wife, my best friend and I went here after searching for an Indian place online. This place was well reviewed, so we decided to try it. We brought our 14 month old daughter with us and the owners could not have been more friendly with her. They went above and beyond to entertain her and those of you that have little ones can understand how much that can mean. This would have been enough to get a positive review from me, but the food was outstanding! It was very authentic and the spices were right! I highly recommend this place to anyone, not just those who have little ones!
Really, really good Indian food... And they deliver. Heaven.
Delicious escapade. This is the first time I am ever putting a review on a restaurant. This place is a little indian paradise in our city. Hidden by bigger building, you will get out of your routine entering this eden.
The food is amazing. We all had butter chicken with rice and nan bread. We also tried their samosa. Everything was perfect. The service was impeccable. They were really treating us like we are important.
Oh and the mango lassi is to die for..
Please do yourself a favor and go try this restaurant. :)
Best in town!. Delicious and reasonably priced food, lovely atmosphere and amazing service! I highly recommend it.
Very tasty food and great service all for a price even a student will happily pay :)
Wow! Amazing food, Phenomenal ambiance, superb service and hospitality! What more can you ask for?? Do yourself a favor and try their Butter Chicken. By far, the best in town.
Great experience!. Resto Darbar is amazing! The food is excellent, and the staff is extraordinarily welcoming and friendly. Also, in the summer they have a beautiful, small back terrace. Definitely try this place out!
We were looking for a place to eat near the jazz festival. This was lovely - the service was great with good advice on what to order and the food was delicious.
The thali was not only delicious, but great value too (although I'm not sure I could see 10 items on my plate as the menu states). Lovely little place, with excellent northern Indian food, run by the friendliest people. I'd highly recommend it.
Nicely decorated inside and really good service. The food was great and reasonably priced. We will definetly come back next time we're in Montreal.
Excellent Indian food prepared and served by the Indian family that owns the place.
Very tasty and inexpensive special (meat or vegetarian), and delicious Indian draft beers.
This was a Pleasant experience from beginning to end! The owner is charming, the surroundings are authentic and the quality of the food is excellent. To say I am a fan of Indian food would be such an understatement, I adore a restaurant where the flavor profiles are so intricate.
I am notoriously hard to please when it comes to eating at Indian restaurants. I have lofty high standards. I can’t help it.

Probably the best butter chicken in Montreal that I tasted so far. I highly recommend ordering the mango lassi - smooth, silky and creamy...
