Hey I just came back from a coastal city in Italy – just kidding. But that was how I felt when I was dining at MKT. My mood lifted and quickly changed to vacation mode. So I want to thank you MKT for bringing this wonderful experience. MKT just celebrated their one year anniversary not too long ago. The environment is very different from the other restaurants that opened their doors in the recent years, where industrial decor was the most popular choice. I was greeted with vibrant white and turquoise. I felt the sea.
** VIDEO REVIEW ** MKT is a lovely restaurant where to bring your parents. The seats are comfortable, the music not too loud and the food, the FOOD, delizioso! Check out our video for sneak peaks of their snow crab Salad, grilled calamari, and more.
Recently, I, as, hum hum, the 3rd most read restaurant blogger (I's GOTTA toot my own horn people!) in Montreal, am getting treated very generously by some restaurants. And no one is happier than I am.... well my guests are pretty effin happy too!. This time, it was MKT on Metcalfe. I had never heard of this place and when I looked at the menu, I wasn't too too excited, to be honest: a Mediterranean restaurant with a simple looking menu but with a big chef behind it. Basically, I got there with absolutely no expectations.
MKT Restaurant, locating on rue Metcalfe, offers unique blends of authentic Italian and Mediterranean flavors. I can finally have a restaurant to recommend to my friends when they ask for recommendations in downtown Montreal, especially when it’s right across from McGill University. Fresh seafood from the market, and chef Marino Tavares tries to use as many local ingredients as possible.

I was invited to try the menu at MKT a couple of weeks ago. I had heard of that the restaurant had open a year ago on Metcalfe street but had never seen it. Naturally when we think of restaurants downtown we often look south of Maisonneuve and that’s why I had always missed it. The restaurant is between Maisonneuve and Sherbrooke and is worth finding.

Very good food, I got to try different dishes and they were all well presented and tasty. The Boullabaisse broth had a nice spicy taste and the stuffed gnocchi are also a must. The gelato was also a great way to finish diner.
My favourite trip to date was to Greece a couple of summers ago. The white and blue roofs of Santorini, the perfect weather in Mykonos, the warm people of Milos, and most importantly- the market fresh food make sure you never want to leave. I was recently invited to Restaurant MKT in celebration of their 1-year anniversary. Though MKT does not in fact serve traditional Greek food, the décor and fresh ingredients took me back to my favourite summer destination, even though we were smack in the middle of a Montreal winter.
My friend suggested this place and I'm so glad we came. Situated in the heart of downtown. Gorgeous & modern interior with a romantic vibe. Loved their truffle gnocchi so much , we ordered twice! The service was impeccable 5/5. Will come back to try the café downstairs 😋
Great place to go for a nice dinner. My friends and I ordered the mushroom risotto, a pasta dish and a fish dish. For dessert we shared the cannolis, the limoncello cake and the beignets. The fish was a little dry but the rest of the food was great!
must try; fried calamari, assorted dessert (tiramisu to die for!! it’s so fluffy and the amount of sweetness is perfect) i’m guessing the pasta is homemade. the filet mignon and lamb was bomb. basically everything was excellent. staff were friendly and quick
I love to complain and nitpick about restaurants but there was no need to do so here. They hosted our party of 12 (which included a toddler) very comfortably and nailed pretty much everything in the process. Each dish was well prepared ensuring all the diners were satisfied, and we found the prices to be very reasonable for the quality of the food, preparation and overall service. I personally had the fish of the day (grilled sea bass) and it was excellent. Easy to recommend this place.
Great food with amazing service. The appetizers are great with very flavorful cocktails and food!
This is a nice restaurant good atmosphere friendly staff and the music is good too.The prices is a bit expensive but reasonable depending on what you have.I had a filet of fish and it was excellent the desserts are great too.
The selective menu contains food that is All made in house. Delicious and nutritious. Lovely service, excellent ambiance and decor. Prices are reasonable. Coffee was a wee bit disappointing. All in all, an excellent experience....the salmon tartar is fabulous. Definitely recommend this intimate restaurant. #localguide
Wonderfull small restaurant in downtown Montréal. Great Italian cuisine. Cozy and modern ambiance.
Started with a garden salad and followed by Bistecca Di Manzo. Both very delicious, well cooked and well presented.
Serviceable and friendly staff. Had a great time!
