Wonderful atmosphere! From the old buildings surrounding a secluded courtyard, to the live jazz musicians... so unique! Our server was very confident, helpful, and supportive throughout our meal, and the food was SO good. We weren't expecting a restaurant with such an expansive menu to pull things off that well. My favourite was the bruschetta for sure.

Eating here was a whole experience.
The food is good. The service is great. Delicious drinks. The decor and ambience along with the live music make it so memorable. I recommend this place to anyone visiting Montreal. The whole front wall, which seems to be the facade from a previous structure, gives it an amazing feeling. It was an atmosphere where families, couples, mature or young, were all having fun. For a while, you feel as if you were in a far away land. Words don’t do it justice. You have to visit the place to fully understand. I will certainly come back next time I’m in Montreal.

Great jazz band at noon and night, the ambience is cool, serene and even romantic almost! I will be back for more definitely. The servers were great and very knowledgeable.

Amazing place with a wonderful atmosphere, great service and live music! We were exploring the old city of Montreal and stopped by at Jardin Nelson to have some drinks. We liked it so much that we returned later to have a meal there. Definitely a must for anyone visiting Montreal!

2022-05-11 : I had a wonderful time here at Jardin Nelson, our waitress was super friendly and courteous, we sat inside the “garden” where it was shaded and cool. Unfortunately, all of this went badly when I had food poisoning later in the day. The only thing I ate was a toast at 7h30am and we came here for lunch towards 14h00. The cocktails were nice, refreshing and well made (nicr amount of alcohol). I ordered the maple BBQ ribs and they were tasty, but I was bloated right after I finished the plate. I didn’t notice anything immediately after the meal but when I got home, I started feeling nausea and had liquid diarrhea, so it’s a shame.
It’s nice under their canopy and “garden” because there is live music being played by musicians. I would recommend you come here for your 5@7 with your coworkers after work or just to have a drink to escape the hot afternoon sun when you're visiting the old port, but not to eat because I don't trust the food. Overall, it’s a good place and I would like to give it a 2nd chance. However, for now, I will give it 3 stars.

My Wife and I had brunch here in Old Montreal. I had the saddle of rabbit crepe which had mushrooms, a white wine mustard sauce, cheese and rabbit. It was amazing! Also finished the meal off with a strong Americano coffee. The seating is outdoor but covered with an amazing atmosphere and live music!

Great atmosphere and kind staff. The food quality is good and you can order among a big range of foods,drinks, and desserts while listening to live JAZZ music. It seems they are open late on long weekends but call them in advance to make sure.

Excellent experience overall. Made reservations for lunch. We were welcomed at the front and directed to the host table where we were seated right away. The atmosphere was pretty cool and the jazz duo played some great tunes. Really enjoyed their Beatles set.
Our server was great. Made a few suggestions that we went with (crepe and pizza). Very friendly and checked up on us just the right amount of times.
Food was really good. My daughter, who doesn’t eat pizza often, really like her smoked salmon pizza. The chicken crepe (Diva) I had was delicious.
Highly recommend trying this place out.

Très décevant du point de vue culinaire, le cadre est jolie, mais il ne s'agit pas d'un restaurant gastronomique... sur la carte on trouve des sandwichs, pizzas, salades, lasagnes, crepes... rien de bien gastronomique ou raffiné.
Ma commande était composé d'ailes de poulet au romarin et citron, j'avais opté pour un croque monsieur au canard en premier choix mais quand j'ai vue de quoi il s'agissait sur la table voisine j'ai annulé ma commande et fait comprendre au serveur qu'il était impensable que je paye 21 dollars hors taxes et hors tips pour une tranche de pain avec de la béchamel et du canard... il ne s'agit pas la d'un croque monsieur mais d'une simple tartine, j'invite le chef de cuisine à revoir ses bases !!!.
J'ai prit à la place une crepe au lapin et des frites. Malheureusement le serveur n'a pas bien géré cet imprévue et mon ami et moi n'avons pas pu mangés nos plats ensemble en même temps. Les lasagnes de mon ami étaient apparement correct mais pas des meilleures.
Malgré que mon entrée était bonne, le reste n'était pas du tout à la hauteur, les assiettes ne sont pas travaillées mes frites n'etaient pas cuites froides et molles. La mayo et le ketchup sont servit dans des sachets sous vide mais sur une petite assiette et un naperon quelle classe !! La pate à crêpe trop épaisse, servit pliée dans une assiette qui ressemble strictement à rien, aucun effort n'est fait sur la presentation des plats et c'est bien dommage car le plaisir de manger passe aussi par les yeux !
Ce restaurant n'est ni plus ni moins qu'un attrape touriste qui mise sur le cadre et non la qualité de la nourriture
Encore un restaurant à Montréal qui vit sur sa reputation et qui se contente de faire le strict minimum !!

Came upon this wonderful restaurant for dinner by chance after getting turned off by the crowded tables in Modavie. Walked by with my wife and noticed the long line and the jazzy music coming from within. Took a peak and was taken back by the ambience and decided to eat here. Food was delicious, waiter was friendly and provided great service. It was busy and packed, but yet we’re not rubbing elbows with the neighbouring tables and was able to have decent conversation and enjoyed the jazz music. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to my friends & families.

I love this place! The music live is amazing and the sangrias are good. Perfect for a summer day and a must stop if you’re visiting. Just be aware of the waiting line (usually half an hour on weekends). Not worthed if you stay indoors or in the street terrace (prices are a bit high for the portion you eat).

Great ambiance. Friendly wonderful waitstaff. Food is off the chart. Fresh and flavorful. The summer side salad was outstanding. Highly recommend this place. My kids even loved the food. It was the high point of our day trip to Montreal.

I was brought as a surprise to celebrate my birthday. I can only say that it was a great experience. From the delicious food to the live band to the great service. We were seated at the back, close to the band and the level of the sound was pleasant. We ordered seafood crêpe, macaroni and cheese with lobster, rack of ribs, fish sandwich, fries, oven baked calamari, cider, beer, pizza, onion soup, goat cheese flaky pastry and several desserts. Everything was top notch. You can’t go wrong at Jardin Nelson...I enjoyed every minute there. Am I going back? Sure I am!!!

The food is delicious and the ambiance is to die for. My wife and I sat on a terrace and listened to live jazz music with our newborn daughter in a stroller beside us and never felt like she was a disruption because of all the happy crowds around us eating and having great conversations as well. This is a place you tell people about when they're going to Montreal.

I loved my evening with my son yesterday, on the occasion of my 56th Birthday. We decided here might be a nice choice. Poké with shredded chicken was so delicious and tasty as was the duck breast panini. Kevin was our server and what a lovely guy with a beautiful smile and personality to go with it. We had 2 large pitchers of Sangria, one Tropical Blue ( loved it ) and after dinner decided to have another Rosé wine with peaches.....a little sweet for me but very good. I will return for sure. We decided to eat on the front terrasse and got our tables fast. But if you are going to the open garden with the jazz band you will have a bit longer to wait.......expect this, as it seems to be a very popular place as it had a long line up. Worth it if you have time on your hands and not in a rush.

Quelle belle terrasse! Le service était impeccable. Mon plat, le poke bowl au thon était délicieux! Les sangrias sont bonnes, mais la cerise sur le sundae: la performance d’Elodie Miron et ses musiciens qui rend l’ambiance très relaxante. Impossible de ne pas se laisser emporter par l’an musique. Bref, un must dans le Vieux-Port...idéalement un dimanche!
