Last night we went with a party of 12 to Modavie in conjunction with Happening Gourmand. For 9 years I have been visiting this restaurant, and they are consistently excellent. It is not just the food that is great, but the ambiance creates an inspired mood, the live music is on point, and the servers went out of their way to make our evening enjoyable.
We tried the calamari, which was superb. Their charcuterie platter was plentiful and had a good assortment of ham, sausage, pate... Delicious. My salmon gravlax was pure and uncomplicated. The rack of lamb was perfect. As always.
An evening at Modavie, is not just a dinner out, it's an evening event where the food, live jazz /blues, and outstanding staff make it worth going back, again and again. Thanks Lorenzo... You have a great team.
Found this place on my " find me gluten free" app. So for starters I will say that there is a great selection if you are Gluten free. Went there at night with my girlfriend at 8:30 and there was a wait until 10:00, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation because of the well deserved popularity of this place. So the next day went in at lunch time with the family and everything was great: The atmosphere, everything looked nice, the waitress was very friendly, and the Maitre D (Lorenzo) was great as well. He made a connection with us, and was joking around and made conversation. And the food presentation was very appetizing and tasted great as well. The prices and the portions fit in with all the restaurants on this street. Would love to go back if I am in Canada again.
Bistro Madive..Bar A Vin. Beautiful space with fabulous staff! Arrived early even after booking an online reservation...but no worries, Lorenzo, the Maitre d'hôtel, gave us a table with no problems..it was my Birthday weekend, so after a fabulous meal I received a delicious dessert and port wine afterwards....super awesome service, beautiful décor and a very memorable meal...thank ya'll for making my special day so wonderful!!!!
My Husband and I visited the restaurant for the first time on Friday past. We are from Labrador, and my husband looked up a place to take me on date night while in Montreal! So glad he found this beautiful place, in georgous old Montreal. The service was amazing, food was top notch and atmosphere quite something to take in. The jazz entertainment were so talented and just added to the grand atmosphere. We will for sure be back again. Thank you to the staff at Modavie for a wonderful night out

First time here and it was a pleasant experience. Our server was kind, welcoming and provided helpful information regarding the menu. They specialize in lamb so my partner and I ordered the lamb chops. They were extremely fragrant, flavourful and cooked perfectly. The vegetables that came with it were a little underwhelming. Although the lamb chops were delicious, I honestly preferred the entrees: fried calamari, escargots and bone marrow. Overall, worth a try! The cozy-intimate ambiance is a plus.
Spent our 7 year anniversary here tonight for dinner and we could not have been more pleased. We’re visiting from Toronto and don’t know much French, but the staff are fluent in English and there’s an English version of the menu so that wasn’t an issue at all. The food, ambiance, service and music were all perfect! I’ll be recommending this place to anyone and everyone. If there’s a long wait, it’s for a reason, and it’s definitely worth the wait. We’re so happy that we decided to eat here tonight. What an incredible evening that we’ll never forget. Thank you Modavie!
Great dinner+music spot in Old Montreal. They’re forte is lamb, and it is cooked to perfection. They’re bone marrow is also quite flavourful. The atmosphere is pleasant as well, but if you do want to catch the Jazz performance make sure to book the upstairs and at the specified show time.
Lorenzo is a star! He was so kind and accommodating with everything we needed. From truly welcome our service dog to the best cappuccino, the wonderful staff and servers. They changed out a dish that was great but not to our taste and comped the last cappuccino to our surprise! Overall great good, great service and the kindest experience from our travel to Montreal over the years!
We stopped in for a glass of wine one lunch time and just had to come back. Lorenzo was an amazing host during that visit.
We came back for dinner a few days later and were certainly glad we did. Lorenzo was not working, but Patrice did not disappoint.
The service was top notch and the food was amazing. Good wine, good food, good company and a fantastic venue. It could not have been a better evening.
The value here is outstanding compared to other places we ate in Montreal.
I highly recommend.

One of the best restaurants I've been in Montreal. Waitress was super friendly and polite, she recommended 2 drinks and they were perfect. I had the mushrooms risotto, it was delicious. The decoration and the songs are awesome, it is definitely a good place to gather with friends and family!
Had a great time at Modavie on a Sunday evening. There was live music and the service was very friendly! Had a delicious French Chardonnay, escargot and for our mains salmon and octopus pasta both very delicious. Would definitely recommend to check it out as they have live entertainment daily, there’s also an area with no music if you prefer that 😉
We had duck confit and lamb chops. The food was delicious. The ambience was great and the staff was very welcoming. Our server was attentive and even gave us suggestions on good authentic French patisseries around. Also it's on Rue St. Paul at a great location . Highly highly recommended.
