Pretty steep in prices for certain foods was looking for a quick bite in a Friday and the Filipino BBQ pork skewers usually do their justice well marinated street food style. Cheapest I've found at $2.25 then got this vegetables mostly green with shrimp in stew not so fond of that it was $8 for a small but otherwise inside is colorful and staff are easy going.
The Filipino chain has four locations: three distributed throughout Mississauga and one in Brampton, bordering Mississauga and Toronto Pearson.
Ever since my failed attempt at attempting their version of the crushed ice dessert at the smaller shop on Rathburn, it was only fitting to visit their Heartland location to verify their making 3rd place on the list. Pulling up just shortly after 1 PM on a quiet, but blindingly bright Sunday afternoon allowed me to grasp a better understanding of their popularity in the area.
Nothing says ‘I love you’ more than getting up too early on a Sunday morning to do breakfast with your extended family. We visited really early on the Family Day weekend (have I mentioned how early we visited?) and had a good time.
It was early enough that it was only my family at the restaurant but it filled up pretty quickly so if you have a big group you should call ahead.
For breakfast they do Tapsilog - which is a mash up word to mean Meat, Garlic Fried Rice and Egg.
My staple order for breakfast? Anything with Tocino - sweet filipino bacon. It's sweet and sticky and bacon-y - How could you go wrong? It's definitely my preferred breakfast meat. If bacon is not your morning choice they also have excellent fried fish, pork etc. Basically almost any meat you want!
And no one will laugh at you if you have spring rolls, lumpia, for breakfast (Deep Fried FTW!) But don't forget to leave room for dessert. They have lots of these!!
Overall we had a great time at Somethin Sweet 4 U! Can't wait to go back (mostly to have more desserts, ha!)
