dre: Our annual Christmas Day dim sum has been challenged since the closure of The Grand in Etobicoke. There just isn't a good replacement that takes reservations on Christmas Day AND tastes just as good! We decided to try this place out, Bliss Chinese Cuisine. It is in the old location of where Regal was. I took a couple of photos, but not everything that we ate.
Eating Out In Mississauga
+4.5
Went to Bliss for Dim Sum and dinner, it was great! Food was of high quality and the BBQ chef is excellent. The Dim Sum congee and BBQ pork buns were really good, as well as the Steamed Egg Custard Buns. If you have a sweet tooth, you will really like the Buns! The service can get a bit slow on busy days, which happens often, especially at Dim Sum times. There is a nice upscale-feeling ambiance, and the waiters are diplomatic and helpful. Great Dim Sum and Dinner restaurant!!
Blissful!. We had come here on a Saturday morning at around 10:30 am for dim sum. When we walked-in, we noticed that there were only two other tables with diners however, it was still early in the morning at that point therefore, we knew that the restaurant would fill up once we were finished (which it surely did afterwards).
We chose a table near the front of the dining area, which was complete with chandeliers, large sculptures, and paintings. We thoroughly enjoyed the dining room as we found it to be elegant, yet simple. Also, there was a lot of room to walk-around, with the chairs and tables covered with nicely decorated linens.
We were then given a menu on a yellow sheet of paper which detailed all of the items in both English and Chinese. We then placed the quantity of each item in the column beside the item, then when we were ready, we waved the paper in the air until a server came by to collect it. This restaurant didn’t have the individuals walking around with the items on carts, something which we found nice as it wasn’t too noisy and crowded.
We waited about ten minutes for our first few items to arrive. We had ordered the Shrimp Dumplings, Pork & Shrimp Dumplings, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns, Minced Beef Meatballs, Steamed Chicken Feet, Steamed Buns With Egg Yolk, Baked BBQ Pork Buns, BBQ Pork Pastry, Shredded Chicken & Corn Congee, Egg Tarts, BBQ Pork Rice Rolls, and the Rice Rolls Wrapped With Dough. All of the items came at a good pace, not too quickly and not too slowly, with just enough time for us to enjoy each item given to us.
I personally found the Steamed Buns With Egg Yolk to be absolutely divine! The bun was filled with sweet egg yolk, which made it taste delicious, I was in heaven! I also thoroughly enjoyed the Rice Rolls Wrapped With Dough as it came with two different dipping sauces, which were both delicious.
I would have enjoyed if the items came out a bit hotter (temperature-wise) however, the taste of the items were delicious nonetheless. Also, we loved how great the service was, with various servers coming by to collect our empty dishes immediately upon finishing.
Once we were finished, we asked for the bill, which we received about five minutes after we had requested it. We were surprised to see that the bill came out to only about $57, which was a great deal considering that we had ordered thirteen dishes, and that we were four people. We were thoroughly impressed, and were quite full once finished as the portion sizes were large. We also had a lot of items that were leftover therefore, we were able to take them home.
It was hard to find a nice dim sum restaurant in Mississauga therefore, we were impressed that we were able to find this one (which has just recently opened). We will surely give this place another try in the future; it truly matched our standards, especially in regards to the food quality, cleanliness, service, and overall atmosphere. Thank you for such a great experience Bliss!
