Review Wonton Chai Noodle - Mississauga

Jason C
Always looking for a place with good wonton mein and stumbled across this place recently. The wonton are very good and the mein is well cooked. Have also tried the beef brisket and Dace fish balls both of which are very good as well. Service is actually reasonable catering to both Chinese and non Chinese speakers. They don’t make much small talk but are very efficient. Definitely our new go to spot!

Formerly Wonton Chai, there has been a change in ownership, and hence its current name: Wonton Express. Nothing else has changed and so the menu is the same as is the taste. It's likely the same cooks. Like it's namesake, the wonton shrimp is huge, delicious and meals are prepped quickly. Note that the chili sauce is a real kick and very spicy. Noodles are springy and al dente as it should be. The only downside is the customer service, which is not unusual for such places.

Great wonton soups. Wonton are a very generous size, 100% shrimp, and you get four per serving with noodles. Very similar to the wontons in Hong Kong. Food is served very quick. Highly recommend and a must try.

Great place to pick up quick lunch, usually packed, but take is quick. My go to shrimp wonton with egg noodles, is cheap, quick, and tasty, 5 min pick up. If you don't know what you want, check the menu..the servers English is limited.

One of my favourite noodle spots. Noodles are bouncy and fresh, shrimp wontons and dumplings are super fresh, veggie plate a great side.

Nice cozy place. Great dishes and yummy soups. Only problem is, both me and my partner had diarrhea next day. Could be an isolated incident.

It has been the best choice for a Chinese noodle soup. They maintain high food quality and efficient and friendly service. Although the menu is limited, you will definitely find what you want. The deep fried fish skin is my favourite dish. The chilly oil is really good. You won't be disappointed. It is conveniently located in Deer Run Plaza with plenty of parking.

Good place to grab a quick and cheap meal! This place is great for soups and noodles. Service is extremely quick. Food comes out within 5 minutes of ordering. Food is delicious, love their beef brisket noodles and wontons. During peak hours, tables are shared with others. P.S. Remeber to bring cash, this place is cash only!!!

One can never go wrong with Wonton Chai. To ensure speedy turnover rates, service is prompt and food delivery is swift. The Beef Brisket is tender, the Wontons delicious, and the broth is insanely comforting. The restaurant also offers the most delectable fried fish skin.<br/>It's the ultimate comfort food - takeout or dine-in.

This is my usual goto place after a long shift at work. Whether I'm sitting down or taking out the service is always fast. My typical order is either a wonton shrimp noodle soup or beef brisket noodle soup. The portions are generous and the wontons are large and flavourful. The beef brisket is tender and cooked just right. The place is usually packed during peak times so you might have to share a table with other patrons. For a tasty bowl of noodle soup at a reasonable price, you can't go wrong with this place!

After spending most of the day in the west end (Erindale Park and Square One), I decided to try some Chinese food in the area.  There is nothing more authentic than Wonton dumplings!  This place came highly recommended in a strip mall just minutes from the city center.  They have fish balls, wonton, dumplings, beef brisket with various types of noodles: egg, vermicelli, etc.  I ordered a bowl with fish balls and wonton with the egg noodles.  My friend ordered their beef brisket and wonton with egg noodles.  All for $6.50.  We also tagged on a daily vegetables to add some variety.  The wonton was loaded with shrimp and the size was tremendous.  The egg noodles were thin but very freshly made.  I also liked their fish balls and brisket.  The brisket was super tender.  One thing to note about this place is that they close at 8pm.

Food is alright and we go there often for a quick bite. Wonton, brisket, noodles, soup - they are all consistent and will fill your craving.<br/><br/>However, I just had  a HORRIBLE service experience which I wanted to relay - and I wasn't even in the restaurant.<br/><br/>It was 7:50pm and I called to see what time they close. A male, sounding like in his 20's, answered the phone. There was some phone static for some 10 seconds, and when it all cleared up, I simply said, "Hello?" to see if he could hear me. His response, in English, with absolutely no Cantonese accent: "What?" It was more a statement than a question.<br/><br/>I asked in English instead of Cantonese: "What time do you close tonight?" His answer: "8. There's a sign on the door."<br/><br/>Thanks JACKA$$ for that very useful tidbit of information. This amateur deserves to be FIRED for putting a really bad face to an otherwise good little resto.

Lost my first review after trying to post this one... but I had the shrimp wonton with rice noodle. Delicious! The shrimp wonton was large and filled with shrimp bits. Meanwhile, my sister had the tomato sauce noodles which were okay, and my Mom had the wonton with the egg noodles on the side. Both enjoyed their respective dishes and said the egg noodles were al dente. However, a heads up: order the noodles in soup as they are a larger portion than when ordered separately!<br/>Came here a second time with a friend, and decided to order a dace fish ball with rice noodle. Unsurprisingly, the made-in-house fish ball was massive, so I couldn't even finish the noodles (again). At least I know now that it's not just me - My friend also wasn't able to finish her shrimp wonton noodle because of the generous portions! @

Great Little Place!. We came here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. It wasn't too busy when we walked in however, as we were there, many people starting coming. We were given menus right away and we each decided on different dishes. We were given a large bowl of complimentary soup as part of our meal which we thought was generous. I chose the dumpling wonton noodles which were huge! There were tons of noodles with shrimp stuffed dumplings that tasted delicious! My meal was only $5.50 which I thought was great. The food came quickly, the service was great, and it tasted delicious. Will definitely come back again!

Just noodles. Really!. I tried out Wonton Chai Noodle for a Sunday lunch while out grocery shopping. The menu surprised me although I guess I shouldn't based on the name of the restaurant. Your choice really is all about noodles and soup. And a side of yu choi with oyster sauce. There's no chow mein; no fried rice; no congee; none of the other items one might find at a Chinese style diner. Your choices are essentially stuff with noodles in soup or stuff with nooodles and soup on the side (lo mein).<br/><br/>I opted for a three item noodle in soup; wontons, dumplings, and beef brisket with egg noodles. Service is fast. The bowl of noodle soup and side order of yu choi arrived shortly after ordered. Looking into the bowl, I saw a mass of noodles in soup and two wontons, two dumplings, and two pieces of beef brisket. This presentation style is what I would describe as "iceberg". The visible portion of the wontons, dumplings, and brisket peeking out from the soup surface is misleading with much of it hidden in the soup. The wontons and dumplings are about 2 to 3 times the size I've had at other places. The shrimp in the wontons and dumplings were nice and crisp (not rubbery), and the brisket was nice too.<br/><br/>I can't say these were the best wontons and dumpings I've ever had but they were darned good. And at $6.50 for the three item bowl, it's great value.

I went to this place for wonton noodle: keeps its menu simple<br/>Give it a try : it's delicious and fresh

ALL THE WRONG ORDER. I usually love this place. We order from here almost once every week. The last time we got take out, both of our orders were wrong. I called to tell them and the guy that i was speaking to had the nerve to say "well what do you want me to do?" So i said please teach your servers to listen to the order before puttng in. Not sure if we will come back just becuase of the poor service we received

Awesome, economical and fast. I love this joint. It's consistent, fast, economical, good portion sizes, and tasty. Huge wonton, best I've had in a long time. This mississauga location is clean and efficient. It's not a place where you linger for an hour for your meal, but it's a good place to grab a quick lunch. Or just when you really crave a good bowl of wonton noodle. I like their dace balls too. Seems all their wonton and dace balls are fresh and not frozen.

Great food!. I love wonton chai. I have eaten here four times in the past 2 weeks. It is awesome. Try everything on the menu. The food is good, service is fast, and the place is clean. Arguably the best Chinese food that you can get in Mississauga. It is sad, but true...

Eat 'n leave type place.. Simply offering wontons, dumplings, fish dace balls, brisket, etc. with or without noodles/soup, menu is not extensive. However in terms of wontons/fish dace balls, they're handmade as opposed to being imported from T&T's frozen section.<br/><br/>If ordering noodles, you have a choice of egg (wonton) noodles, rice (ho-fun) noodles, or vermicelli. $5 gets you a more than sufficient sized bowl of noodles. I find ho-fun more filling than wonton noodles, so order this if you're hungry! <br/><br/>Bill arrived while I was still eating, but not in a rude manner. Sad to say, but as an Asian, I'm used to this. <br/><br/>Cheaper than pho and no MSG. Not too much atmosphere to soak up, so it's basically a place to fill your stomach and leave.

Great service, and it's fast. Tried the wonton in egg noodle and beef on lo mein. Really like this place. Yummy.

The Principle of the Thing. It would be worth recommending Wonton Chai Noodle only on principle, because it represents something extremely important for the restaurant business in Mississauga: the small restaurant that does one thing really, really well. The template for most sit-down restaurants is a cavernous room that aims to be everything to everybody, from breakfast to dinner, serving every course in the meal from drinks to dessert. Menus are ridiculously varied to satisfy everyone's taste and end up satisfying no one. On the other hand, Wonton Chai Noodle (and hopefully more restaurants like it) assumes your dining experience involves hunkering down at a table, ordering as you sit because the menu is small, getting your food in less than five minutes, eating it in ten and getting the heck out. Possibly to go for a bubble tea at Bubble Republic next door. It’s a model that’s working in Markham and Richmond Hill and needs to come here.<br/><br/>The thing Wonton Chai Noodle does really, really well? Wonton noodles. Without and without soup. Choice of dace fish balls (soft, slightly chewy, also a great choice), beef brisket or dumplings, or any combination thereof. All for under $7. Plate of vegetables on the side for $3. That's it. If you arrive early enough you can see them making the wontons fresh by hand at a ridiculously fast pace of about ten a minute. The wontons are big, never overcooked, with large chunks of shrimp inside.

Dear Wonton Chai Noodle, You have successfully captured my (chinese) heart and I am forever grateful for your inexpensive yet delicious food. Sincerely, Just another female food-lover student on a budget For merely $4-6, you get a large bowl of wonton soup with your choice of vermicilli, rice noodle, or egg noodle and a selection of toppings such as fish balls, shrimp wontons, and beef brisket (not to mention that they are homemade). I was famished by the time I sat down and took a look at the menu. As usual, my eyes became my stomach and I ordered the large soup with 3 toppings. When my order came, I was in awe of just how large the bowl was and my stomach was ready to devour it. (looking at these pictures is making my stomach lust) That shrimp wonton was bigger than my ears (weird analogy, I know).   The beef brisket was neither good or bad. It was just chewy. Wonton Chai Noodle serves seriously some of the best and most authentic wonton soup I’ve ever had. On a cold winter night, yo

If you're looking for a quick meal with great value, Wonton Chai Noodle is the place to go! With a simple .menu, you won't have to over think what you want to order. If wonton is in the name of their restaurant, you  can be sure that they make a great wonton!  The restaurant is not very big and on a busy weekend lunch you can expect to share a table with people you don't know. The customer turnover is so high you probably won't even be in the restaurant for longer then 45 minutes.  The Pork with Chili & Tomato Sauce Lo Mein   had the perfect amount of spice and didn't over power the noodles.  The Dumplings in Soup is only available on the weekends so if you're there on a Saturday or Sunday be sure to order a bowl! You can either order it plain with the soup or with the noodles. The dumplings are huge and the shrimp was very fresh!  The Beef Slice Noodle in Soup was tasty but I definitely preferred the dumplings over the beef.  Just a reminder that they are not open on Wednesdays - we h

It is just a simple restaurant with great, fresh wonton soup! Did I mention it’s super simple and affordable? The menu is (literally) just soup, your choice of noodle (egg (wonton) noodles, rice (ho-fun) noodles, or vermicelli) and either shrimp wontons, dumplings, fish dace balls or beef brisket. All for a whopping $5 – $7!

With a restaurant name like Wonton Chai Noodle you have to order wontons. Their menu is simple as you can have noodles in the soup or on the side. Then you choose your type of noodle including egg noodle, rice noodle or vermicelli. Last you choose your toppings among shrimp wonton, dumpling, beef brisket and dace fish ball. This first picture is egg noodle in soup with two choices of dace fish balls and beef brisket ($5.50). Among the noodle choices I only really like egg noodle and borderline dislike vermicelli. I don't know why exactly but may be related to the texture. At least here the egg noodles are really good. Depending on where you go, the dace fish balls can have a lot of cilantro, but this place goes easy on it which meant I really liked them. The brisket was a little fatty but some people like it that way. The second picture has the lo mein noodles on the side of a bowl of broth with shrimp wontons and dumplings ($6.50). I kinda liked it separated as it keeps ev
