The food at mango mirchi has a amazing touch of home cooked food, every item on the menu is tasty and delicious, authentic Goan and Manglorean Cusine, It is difficult to single out any single dish to say that is the best, because each has its own special flavour and taste. For the past 1 1/2 year they are doing take out and the service they provide is impeccable, don’t miss their Christmas Delicacy, they will be putting them out shortly. Their Kunswar is mind blowing. Desmond and Irine also provide a personal touch with their customers , they are courteous and welcoming, great service.
Don’t miss out on their Vindloo and Sorpotel.
To be frank, I am not quite familiar with Mangalore cooking but I do know (and love) Goan food. Not to boast but I am a bit of a connoisseur when it comes to Goan dishes, after residing in Goa for quite some time.
Having said that, the Goan food choices available at Mango Mirchi are 'justa like mama used to make'. And that's saying something, because mama was a marvel when it came to cooking up a Goan dish.
Their menu is quite impressive with a large selections of you-name-it-we-got-it Goan dishes.
The price for any of the selections are quite reasonable when you consider that Goan dishes are simply not readily available in the market as are your Chinese restaurants. In fact, the prices may very well be under-priced and that is because it is run by ma & pa and not your typical restaurant chain.
(The COVID-19 pandemic has been a test of resilience for Canadian family businesses and they are meeting the challenge…89% Canadian family businesses expect to see growth in 2022.)
I have had the pleasure of sampling many of their fine offerings and I can tell you with confidence that you would almost believe you are in Goa while you're enjoying any of their dishes.
For an appetizer you could start off with their veggie samosas or meat puffs but my favorite are their Fish Croquettes. These are simply to die for! The Beef Potato Chops are quite tasty as well.
For the main dish, I prefer Chorizo Chili (Goa Sausages with potato) that contains a real spicy flavor which brings back the true taste of home.
FYI, this dish combines well with veggie dish like a Mutter Paneer or a plate of Chana Masala (chick peas). Or if you love fish, also available is their special fried Mackerel.
And if you have a sweet tooth like me, you will love their Bibinka - it is mouth-watering delicious and so is their Rum (christmas-style) fruit cake.
I usually end up taking some items to go, like their Chutney (yes, the green one!) which make excellent home sandwiches. And God forbid I do not forget to order some Tendli pickle for Natasha and Guava Cheese for Shona (my nieces).
Try some Goan cooking the next time you are feeling adventurous for a delicately spiced meal at the Mango Mirchi , I can assure you will fall in love with Goan cooking!
This is a family run business. We wanted to try some fish curry and we were delighted to have come across this place. I used to live in the neighborhood but never noticed this place. Thanks to Google we found it.
The lady was over worked taking care of both the kitchen and front, but still found time to have a brief chat. That is what the customer values. The food was delicious too.
Maybe you can consider changing the branding outside so people don't have to rely on just Google to find you :)
All the best. Keep up the good work!
