This place is smaller but give you the true pub experience. Bathrooms are downstairs, very clean and tidy, there is an overflow 2nd floor which I know will be packed for Saint Pats, great live music, local and bands from outside the Miramichi area. Food is to die for, I have only eaten there 3 times so far trying something different on the menu each time, 5 stars.

Best food and atmosphere ever but disappointed in service last night. Actually second time this happened. Monday night, only 2 tables taken. We were greeted with. “. You can sit in any of the three middle tables. Ok we thought, must be reservations for large crowd. Our preference was tables by window , as it was a tad cool in middle because of draft when door opened. So a few more people came in . Party of 2’s. And sat by windows. So I asked waiter why we couldn’t have sat there. He said b/c we were 3 people so would have taken an extra table. With one chair vacant. (I guess) Which is inches away if you need to put them together . Then he said he was working alone and we’d be closer to bar/kitchen for him to serve us. Really. A foot or two maybe . No crowd there, it’s Monday. Same this summer when we went with party of 6 and sat out side in front patio. Needed an extra 2 chairs so people beside us gave us one of their extras. Lots of room not congested at all. Waiter insisted we move to back patio because the table normally only has 4 chairs so we MIGHT be taking away from another party of 6 who needed chairs. IIF they happened along. We were with out of towners who were shocked at this. And did try to make some sense out of this with the Waiter. People at tables around us were a tad shocked also. So we moved to back. Also happened to a friend and wife who went in on a Friday night and only a table of 6 available, which is usually marked reserved in case a party of 6 come in, so b/c they were only two people had to leave. Now these people like myself and my family are very regular customers of O’Donaghues. Hate to complain but really.? And again food and atmosphere is always great and don’t usually run into this . Most waiters/Waitresses greet you with “Sit wherever you like”. There is no sign “ Wait to be seated”. So I guess you expect to just sit where it’s comfortable. Not a real big issue but just doesn’t make any sense.
This was the third time I've been here over the years and by far I have to say this was the best experience. I love the new street patio! Definitely the best way to experience a cold Guinness in the sun! The food was excellent and so was the service!!
