Good Food But Rushed Service.. We had come here on a Saturday morning close to 12:00 pm for brunch. We decided to give this location a try as we had a gift certificate for $25 that we wanted to use. When we walked-in, we were immediately greeted by a young man who asked us how many people would be dining. We said that it would be just the two of us.
He then brought us to a table near the door, which had enough seating for four people. As we sat down, we noticed that there was a booth that had just opened up in our section therefore, we decided to sit in the booth instead, with the young man who was cleaning the booth setting the table for us as we moved.
Once we had settled into the booth, we were approached by Gia, our server. She seemed a bit abrupt as she asked what we would like to drink immediately after saying hello. I realized that it was busy however, asking how someone is doing, along with exchanging some pleasantries, is always appreciated.
Regardless, we placed our order, with my husband ordering Cora’s Special (along with a coffee), while I ordered the Brunch Burger, which was based on the teen’s menu (I settled on water to drink). Once we had placed our order, Gia came back within about three minutes with my water and my husband’s coffee. We found that the beverages came out fairly quickly however, once again, Gia seemed rushed, tending to other tables quickly.
As we waited for our meals, we glanced at the décor on the wall, which was cute and fun, with bright drawings of menu items placed on colourful walls. After about twelve minutes of us waiting, another server brought over our meals, which were piping hot as she placed them on the table.
The Brunch Burger consisted of a beef burger with a cheese omelette on top, along with bacon, tomato, lettuce, and hollandaise sauce meshed within two toasted slices of bread. The burger was huge, which made it difficult to fit entirely into my mouth. I was also given a side of roasted potatoes and ketchup. As a result, I had to take small bites of the sandwich as I ate.
My husband’s Cora’s Special included two eggs (done over-easy), bacon, ham, sausage, and a crepe, served with rye toast (this was my husband’s choice of toast), roasted potatoes, and a few fruits such as orange and melon. They also brought over a dish of jam and peanut butter to spread on the toast if desired.
The dishes were nicely decorated, with all of the items placed proportionally on the dish in order to appease the eye. The Brunch Burger was actually quite good, with the burger well-done, and the omelette oozing of cheese and hollandaise sauce. However, the roasted potatoes that I had received were not as crunchy as I would have liked, but they were delicious nonetheless.
I was told by my husband that Cora’s Special was delicious and fresh, although he did mention that the coffee was a bit too pricey (however, refills were given often therefore, I found it to be somewhat reasonable).
Once we were done with our meal, we had asked Gia if we could get the bill. Gia came by twice to ask how things were going throughout our meal however, she seemed rushed throughout the entire time of our visit. We then placed the gift certificate, along with some extra cash (as the bill came out to $28.08, with Cora’s Special costing $10.95, the Brunch Burger costing $11.45, and the coffee costing $2.45).
We waited about five minutes for Gia to come by to collect the items that we had placed on the table. She then came by and told us that we needed to pay at the front. It would have been helpful if we were told this when we sat down as we didn’t know, and had to waste time sitting there and waiting.
We paid at the front as one of the younger girls rang us through. We asked if we could leave a tip for Gia; we then noticed that each of the servers had a bin with their names on it, which were used to leave tips for each of them. We thought this was a clever idea as opposed to just leaving the tip on the table.
When we left, we were pleased with the food that we had eaten however, we found the service to be a bit rushed, but adequate for what we were there for. We also enjoyed the atmosphere as it seemed to be a happy place to dine-in. In all honesty, I don’t think that we would return, only because we found it to be a bit overpriced, and we don’t go out for breakfast too often to spend that much time or money on.
