Review The Works Craft Burgers & Beer - Milton

Always a great variety of burgers. I like how the menu changes every two or three months. Some of the new Burger menu items are quite different from previous menu items. Well worth trying.

Went to another location long time ago and didn’t like the food so I was very hesitant to try this location, but my husband was craving a burger. Service was excellent, the guy that served us was so patient and explained everything I asked. Burgers and sweet potato fries were very good. The only thing we didn’t like as much was the poutine, but it was still ok. Also I was enjoying very much the music in the background. I have to say it was an great experience 😊

We ordered take out for my son’s birthday. All the burgers were super fresh. Also onion rings and fries were still crunchy and so tasty after my pick up. The staff is always super friendly and accommodating. This is my favourite burger place!

I ordered takeout from the Milton location and I'm okay with my burgers being a bit underdone but this was practically raw. Very disappointed to say the least.

Great food in a nice small town! Has a patio out back and burger choices may take few minutes to decide which one to try! Service was also great, recommend the place! ...went back in a week for more yummy food 😁

Ask for Thomas... he is the greatest! It was my first time and as a vegan, I was so happy that they had options for me!!! You need to try this place. Worth every penny. Great quality food!

The food was great and delicious. Though the service wasn't good. We had to wait for almost an hour before we received our two burgers. When I ordered coffee, it was literally cold and I had to ask twice for that itself..

Bestest Burger and onion rings ever..

My nephew wanted to eat here for his B-Day after his visit to their Niagara Falls location. We were a party of 10 plus. We order the Malibu meltdown, the Juicy Lucy, the Three Ring Binder and the Ho Hum #2 plus
a few more that I can't remember the names of. The ounion rings were cool and very good. All the burgers were cooked well and juicy. We order fries and Poutines which were liked by most but I wasn't big on there fries. The servers were nice and knowledgeable. The restaurant was a mix between a bar and wing joint. All and all we enjoyed our visit. Absolutely worth a try. I will stop in again.

Ordered a chocolate milkshake (it was meh), along with martini poutini, and a burger called "barking at my cow"... the burger and poutine were so damn good!!! Service was very fast for a busy Friday night, and didn't have to wait too long for food! So far, best burger place I've tried in Milton, and one of the good "TheWorks" that I've been to in Ontario.

They have so much variety - every time I go, I pick pick a different burger. They are delicious! Service is a bit slow during busier hours..have to wait a bit before you get the food, however I haven't had any complaints with the quality of their food. Nice selection of beers too. I think this location needs a little more space as it can get a little cramped up of you go with family and kids.

Good food and great service. The place gets packed especially during the weekend so make sure you plan for that! Apparently there is unlimited fries so got to check that out next time. The burgers were juicy and loved all the options on the menu for toppings.

Second Review (July 2015)

Based on my experience during my first visit in March 2015, I decided to give this place another chance as I am quite fond of burgers, and wanted to see if this place could help me to fall in love with the idea of having a delicious burger.

When I came in here after our first visit, I found the staff to be MUCH more friendlier than they had been on our first visit. I also noticed that the two managers were more present, asking us how we were doing periodically, and making an effort to provide a satisfying experience (this was not noticeable during our first visit). They also made sure that we were content, asking me if I wanted a knife to cut my burger to make sure that it was cooked, and asking if we needed a refill on our drinks.

I also found that the food seemed to be much better put together then compared to our first visit. During our second and third visits, I had the Babewatch (avocado and Monterey jack) and Son of a Beech (avocado, beechhouse sauce, sundried tomatoes, and feta cheese) burgers. Each time, the burgers were cooked to perfection, as opposed to the first visit, where the burgers seemed to be red throughout the entire patty. I was impressed at the close attention that was put into making the burger much more enjoyable.

I also found that the fries were hotter (temperature-wise) with more flavouring, as opposed to the first visit, where they seemed to be lopsided-ends, thrown together at the last minute. My husband also agreed with me that the foodtasted better than it had on our first visit, and that it was much-more enjoyable the second and third time around. We also noticed that the atmosphere seemed more calm and peaceful, as opposed to rushed and scattered (we had come on a Friday evening for both of our visits).

Although I was initially upset with the food and service that we had received the first time we had dined here, I was glad that I had given this place another chance as they truly showed me how a good burger tastes. Based on my past two visits, I would say, with the utmost confidence, that the Works is one of the best establishments for burgers, and will highly consider it as an option for the future, whether on my own, or with others. Well done The Works, thank you for providing me with a great experience!

First Review (March 2015)

We had come here on a Saturday evening at around 7:00 pm for dinner. When we first walked-in, there were about three different groups of individuals waiting to be served at the front. We found it to be a tad crowded and uncomfortable however, after waiting for about five minutes, we were then asked for our name in order for the staff to find a table for us.

We then waited another five minutes before a table was found, which was a tiny two-seater table at the front of the restaurant, right beside the door and the window. It was quite cold where we were seated therefore, we had to keep our coats on the entire time that we were there. Also, the door kept opening and closing, which created a draft coming our way constantly.

Once we sat down, we had already known what we had wanted to order as we browsed the menu while we were waiting for a table. I chose the Ho Hum #1 Burger (a plain patty with cheese), along with French Fries. My husband chose the Gettin’ Piggier With It Burger, which consisted of a bacon and beef patty, loaded with bacon, cheddar, and onion strings. As his side, he settled on the Onion Rings.

Our server asked us if we were both okay having our burgers done ‘medium-rare’, at which we both replied ‘no’, and asked him to have them both ‘well-done’. He agreed, then went back to the kitchen to place our order. We both settled on water as our beverages, which arrived somewhat quickly once we had ordered them. However, the waiting period for our food items was unacceptable.

We had waited for at least thirty minutes for our food to arrive. In that time, our server, nor any of the other servers, came over to apologize for the long wait. I had to flag down our server in order to get his attention to ask how much longer it would be. The tables around us were filthy, and were not cleaned for at least twenty minutes once someone had left.

The table behind us had two large dishes of fries that were stacked up on top of each other, which sat there for at least twenty minutes until they were finally cleared away. We were shocked and appalled at how dirty the place was, and how disorganized the service seemed to be. We understood that they seemed to be ‘backed-up’, as our server mentioned however, at least apologize for being backed-up, which didn’t occur NOT once throughout our entire stay at this establishment.

Once our food FINALLY appeared, we were glad to see the items as we were starving at that point, and had waited far too long. When my husband bit into his burger, it was RED on the inside, which was NOT what we asked for. We then flagged down someone who had finally came to clean one of the dirty tables in our vicinity, and told him that our burger was red, and we weren’t too pleased. He then told us that the burger should be red as it was bacon. We then proceeded to tell him that we had asked for it to be WELL-DONE, and that the burger should NOT have been as red as it was.

At that point, our server finally appeared, and we told him that the burger was much too red, and he agreed, then said that he would redo it and that it would take only two minutes. We weren’t too pleased at that point, and were even tempted to get-up and walk-out. Nevertheless, we agreed to having the burger cooked again, which took about five minutes.

Once the burger came back, it was still somewhat red but not as red as it was the first-time that we had received it. Our server then informed us that it was still red because of the bacon however, that it was more cooked this time-around than beforehand. My husband said that the burger was good, but that the patty was dry. I agreed with him as my patty was also dry, despite the ketchup and mustard that I had added. Also, the French Fries were pathetic; I had received all of the ends, which were withered and dried-out, and they were COLD. My husband said that the Onion Rings were much too greasy, and he wasn’t even able to finish them; they looked to be drenched in oil.

Once it was time to leave, we flagged down the hostess as she was walking-by our area. We told her that we had wanted the bill. Our server then came to our table, and gave us our bill, minus the Gettin’ Piggier With It’ burger (the undercooked burger), which was good on their part. Therefore, our bill came out to $14.56, which consisted of my burger only.

To avoid having to wait another thirty minutes for our server to come and grab our payment. I walked to the area where the servers were putting in the customers’ menu items, and asked another server where we could pay for ourbill. Our server then appeared, and processed our bill. Not ONCE did he apologize for the slow service, the undercooked food, and the dirty atmosphere, all he said was ‘have a good one’.

Wow, have a good one? Honestly, that was the only thing that he could say? I certainly will be having a good one, but NOT at this establishment EVER! Will tell others of my horrid experience, and will certainly never return.

Not impressed on 1st visit. Heard a lot of good things, but the quality of the food was not at all what I expected. Bland, slapped together, sparse toppings. Perhaps someone new in the kitchen? Appreciate that they didn't charge for a portion of the order. Will not bw returning though.

Great place for burgers. My girlfriend (gluten free) and I eat here nearly every week. The burgers are outstanding and it's easy to find a favorite no matter what your taste in toppings may be, from obscure to traditional. I recommend the Tidball Baker - after trying several different burgers, this has become my 'usual' burger that always satisfies. The prices are a little on the high side for burgers, but the friendly service and great portions make this place a favorite for us both.

Wow, just wow!. To get this out of the way first off The Works is a more expensive burger place. We arrived Saturday right at noon and were seated right away. It seemed to take forever for our server to arrive and offer drinks, but when she did she offered a small taste of a beer I wasn't sure off. I did end up with getting that beer which was the Boundary Ale(?). Be for warned the menu is hard to choose from so the smart money is to check the website before you arrive so you have some sort of idea. We were both struggling so we asked for another minute. Sadly the server didn't appear again for what seemed like a long while. Thankfully we were seated near the wait station and I could get her attention. My wife ordered the Smokey Mountain (Smokey mountain BBQ sauce, jack cheese, bacon) with fries and I ordered the Love Goat (Peppercorn crust, goat cheese, sweet & spicy sauce and bacon) with the elk upgrade also with fries. While waiting I kept noticing the very fun decor, like the light bulb salt and pepper shakers, the rock hammer embedded in the mortar and the mock old school electric poles and lines. The burgers were both great and it was refreshing that they prefer to cook them to medium rare and even mention this at the order in case you prefer a different temperature. I feel confident in saying the fries were frozen but very very good. I could not stop eating them. The server got extra credit by bring me chipotle mayo that I didn't ask for along with the regular mayo I had asked for to dip my fries. At first glance I though my burger was light on cheese but as I got into it that was not the case. Not overboard but definitely not lacking. I love peppercorn so the Goat Love was a solid choice for me. I was very loaded so if you don't really love peppercorn you will want to stay away. The bbq sauce on my wife's Smokey Mountain burger was excellent. I would be happy buying a bottle. The bacon on both burgers was very tasty but imo it got lost in the burgers. The meat was cooked almost perfectly. I didn't notice much difference in the elk from most lean ground beef but it was very tasty. The beef definitely tasted like medium to full fat and was awesome. What looked like not much food turned out to be a lot and we both left full and very satisfied. It would be great to leave more restaurants as satisfied as I did at The Works!!! I will be back for sure.

Side note - Milton seems to be a nice town with many courteous people.

Great variety but a little pricey. Been to the Works in Milton with my girlfriend several times. Both of us are "foodies" so we'll try something different every time. The burgers have always been hot and tasty and service was decent. It's a touch on the pricey side for a burger but the variety of flavors makes it worthwhile.

Great atmosphere, great service, good food. My husband had a piece of plastic wrap on his burger (we assume from the goat cheese) so of course we let our server know. He wasn't sure what to do about it (which gave us a little giggle) but knew something needed to be done so went to get the manager. Apologies were given, a new (albeit rushed and not as good as the first one) burger was given and his meal was comped. We still enjoyed ourselves despite that hiccup and will return to try a different one of their many (more than 40) selections.

I have eaten here on numerous occasions and will keep going back. The burgers are amazing with all the different toppings. They cater to everyone's needs. The staff and service is excellent and the atmosphere is great.
I personally met the owner Brian and it was nice to see him saying hello to the customers and also assisting them.
I recommend you to try this
Place out if you haven't already.

Good, but not fantastic. I went there with a few friends for a dinner out, the food was good, not fantastic. If they added seasoning to the burger and the gravy it could raise the flavor up a level. We had a nice and knowledgable waitress so that helped us navigate the large menu of topping options. Price was a little high for a burger and fries. They will miss out on some families for that reason alone.

Not worth the money. Sunday night dinner for family of four. Service was basic, nothing special. We were sat immediately in a booth near the greeter station. Staff congregated there when not busy and it became quite loud. Burgers were dry, sides were not seasoned, coleslaw was swimming in dressing. The big draw here is the toppings not the burgers themselves. Big compliment of the night was on our way home. My 15 year old son said my burgers were far better than what we just had. Should have saved the money and made some exotic toppings at home.

Good Lunch. First time at The Works yesterday. I got the Porkgasm. The beef was done nicely and there was lots of bacon! The fries were crispy and fresh. I had an 8oz milkshake for dessert, I went with a classic Strawberry. The milkshake was thick and flavorful, unlike others I've had in town that are loose and have too much milk.

The atmosphere is nice, with a localized Milton Mural, although in asking the staff , the other locations all have a similar theme and tailor to their towns. I can't say I'm a huge fan of the music (Classic and Blues rock) but it's the same stuff you'd hear anywhere these days.

Looking forward to trying more burger combos!
