OJ's is one of my go-to spots with my friends for lunch or dinner. Its laid back atmosphere is great, seating is comfy and spacious, menu has good value, and the service is always friendly.
Of the critiques I could give, there are 2.
1. The fish tacos are really not good. Normally, I would expect a pan fried filet of fish, but instead they serve a salmon patty in a disc. For the price, it really wasn't worth it.
2. The last time I went, I ordered root beer, thinking I'd get refills just like any other place with pop. However, they actually gave me a bottle of root beer, that I'm assuming is like a specially made type? It tasted great! But, I think they charged per bottle (like actual beer), so I didn't bother getting another one. A bit surprising at first, since every other restaurant just does pop refills like normal. So, if you're expecting pop refills, I'd suggest asking first.
Positive: Their burgers/sandwiches are REALLY good. I usually get the pulled pork sandwich with mashed potatoes and a salad, and it's exactly what I want from a place like this. Really tasty all around, and at a good price too. I would recommend that, or the Kona burger as well.
I love this place. Great for a date night dinner. Their bruschetta is to die for. Extreme fresh. I've never eaten anything here that I didn't like and I've tried quite a few menu items. I absolutely love the atmosphere. It's cozy with a bar feeling while being a more classy sit down restaurant. They keep the lights dim so it gives off a more sexy private ambiance.
Jambalaya. Average, lots of shrimp and bacon, hard to find sausage or chicken, skimpy on the orzo
Went for dinner, service was pretty decent, waitress was friendly... Food arrived promptly and was terrific. The place is quite loud, wouldn't suggest for an intimate meal but also wouldn't hesitate to return for dinner. Took some time to pay but one of their debit machines were down so also understandable.
Awesome food, great service. We have always had awesome food and great service at Oj's! The butter chicken is stellar as is the mud pie dessert. Any time we've ever had an issue with speed of service or a food preference, the staff and management have always made it right-they really know customer service!
Although I've never been to OJ Winnipeg, boy am I going to be now! We stopped in for lunch and I'm telling you, these were probably one of the top 3 ribs I've ever had. Talk a out fall off the bone! $18.75 for a full rack? That's very reasonable. Great garlic mashed potatoe side and fantastic Caesar with lots of REAL bacon. I don't ever frequent bars, but this bar I will. I'll drink water. Lol
Good grub. A little pricey, but good atmosphere and good food.
Liked it. Never been to Original Joes before, went with a few friends for the hockey game and enjoyed my time.It was busy but the waitresess were great -we ordered some calamari for starters and some burgers for the main, house beer was good and food was great .
I've been to Joe's probably almost a dozen times now. It's a great pub. Atmosphere is great, I've been with the wife, groups of friends, and even for a Christmas party and from what I've seen and experienced, this restaurant and it's staff are very efficient and consistent. Is the menu something to do flips about? No. But I've never experienced a bad meal there and in all the times I've been there and with all the people I've been there with I can honestly say I have not once been with someone that had to send something back! So that in itself says something to me. It is a cool place to go after work or with friends to just hang out, have some drinks, but most importantly some laughs
Just another chain. Went there for a work Christmas dinner (2010). The atmosphere is nice and inviting, clean and very well maintained.
Service friendly, attentive and efficient.
Food. Hit and miss. There were 15 of us there and from what I could see of the other dishes nothing really knocked me off of my socks. Could you get what they were serving somewhere else in Medicine Hat? Yes. Was it better than the other places? Not really. So what would make you want to return?
I had the wings which were very flavourful, medium in size, hot and crispy. My issue is that they were dry and no where near as moist as other restaurants that I've been to. My wife had the French Onion soup and there was too much bread and cheese and barely any broth or onions.
I just found the menu to be bland and serving items that you could get at Earl's or Moxies. There was the usual hamburger/sandwich selection, salads, appys and of course the "ethnic" items as well.
Stick with Canadian cuisine.
For a night out on the town this wouldn't be my first stop for food. If anything I would eat at home and then go there for drinks.
