A change in plans this evening led us to South St Burger. Better than fast food? Yes. Are there better burgers around? Yes.

There were three of us. Two ordered the basic burgers, and added their choice of toppings.

I chose the Mushroom & Swiss add-on from the Signature Burger menu. The burger was freshly cooked on a flattop grill, which was then transferred to the bun at the toppings station. The mushrooms were ladled on from a stewing pot, and a slice of cheese was added. I think it would have made a better burger if the mushrooms and cheese were added at the grill, giving the cheese an opportunity to melt a bit before heading to the bun.

Was it still a satisfying burger? Yes.

Came in a few minutes before noon and there was a small lineup. I ordered the Nacho burger combo and had my food in less than 5 minutes. Tasty burger and decently sized for lunch. Fries are crispy and fresh. For some reason they added bacon to my burger without asking. I'm fine with it but if I had restrictions they would have had to redo the order. I'd come back.

South Street is one of those burger places that I always seem to forget about and I'm not sure why because they offer a noteworthy burger (made with hormone and antibiotic free meat) and some very delicious fries (New York Fries). There are a ton of choices among the sauces (spicy ketchup, jalapeño sour cream, wasabi mayo, signature sauce, etc), cheeses (Brie, pepper jack, feta, etc) and toppings (Cajun onions, avocado, cucumber, etc) which allows you to practically have a different burger every time. Unless you like minimal toppings/sauces, definitely spring for a 6oz (instead of the 4oz option) as I found the 4oz patty doesn't give you enough taste of the meat against all those add ins.

Here's are the components of my greatest burger ever had there:
- 6oz patty
- cheddar cheese
- spicy ketchup
- little mustard
- garlic mayo
- lettuce
- tomato
- Cajun onions
- pickles
- signature sauce on the lettuce
- hot peppers
Extra note: Throw several hearty dashes of the Garlic Tabasco hot sauce they carry by the condiments section in there too!! It's the best hot sauce ever!

I feel like these guys are the most underrated burger chain. I absolutely love their cheese burger dressed with ketchup, mustard, signature sauce, spicy relish, Cajun onions, pickles, tomato and garlic tobasco sauce. Their fries are "NY FRIES" as well and 100% deliver. Definitely glad to have one around

Clean environment, cozy, and lively makes South Street Burger a great place to have a burger. Great variety of the works, sauces and sides, alongside the ever-so famous New York fries makes every burger a different experience every time. While a bit on the pricey side for a combo, the one dollar discount is enough incentive to purchase a satisfying meal. Probably one of the best burgers in the city.

My hubby's brought me there for the first time today. Love the atmosphere there. Fresh off the grill burger always makes it better. Pick and choose your own toppings ;). Top it off with NYF yum yum.

Great topping selection but dry patty. 3 types of mustards, 4 types of relishes, a variety of ketchups and mayos, even guacamole can be added to your burger.

However, I must admit the hamburger patty was dry (Harvey's is juicier in my opinion).

Overall, the burger was just okay, but nothing special. I would eat it again, but wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

Pricey but worth it to some. There were some pros and cons. First off, I loved the atmosphere. It was clean and the supplies such as condiments and utensils, were well stocked. Staff were polite and I got smiles! There were a variety of hamburger toppings to choose from. You had a choice between fries and onion rings. There's also milkshakes and ice cream.

Now the cons. I had the hamburger combo with fries and a drink. The burger was a bit on the dry side and the patty a bit thinner than Harvey's or McD's quarter pounder. However, you can taste the difference. Not as oily and definitely tasted better/healthier than McD's.

The portion of fries was on the small side. Drink was okay. Size was between a small and a medium at McD's.

I guess on the whole, the only complaint I have is the slight dryness of the patty, the small portion sizes. and the price. A hamburger combo came out to a little under $10.

Since this place seems to be taking a lot of environmental initiatives such as using 100% renewable electricity, LED bulbs etc. As well, they advertise the beef as being no preservatives, no additives, no antiobics, no hormones or fillers...I guess that's why it's pricier.
