I have a soft spot of Hong Kong cafes, especially macaroni with spam. For me, the simple bowl of noodles and broth is quintessential comfort food. This meant that even though we went to Cafe Hollywood for their chicken wings, I couldn’t resist the $5.99 All Day Breakfast.
It was another late night feast but I loved the wings. It was just as crispy and well fried as the original location. How do they do it!? Chinese places like this just know how to deep fry chicken wings to perfection so that it’s not too over-fried and the inside meat is left tender and moist. The exterior was perfectly crispy and light! It was so good! I always choose the Pepper Chili flavour.
I dropped by at around 3pm on a Saturday afternoon for their afternoon tea menu. This is their second location after a successful long term run at Market Village. Inside, it is very spacious with very nice booth seating and bar area. There are television screens across the restaurant to keep you awake. I ordered their French Toast with a Hong Kong Milk Tea for a low, low price of $3.50. My uncle ordered their fried Chicken Wings with potato chips for $3.50. My aunt ordered their Garlic Bread with Russian Borscht soup for $4.50. My French Toast was excellent, very crispy and just came out of the deep fryer. Paired with the milk tea, it was a nice afternoon delight. The Chicken Wings did not come in a large portion, however the Garlic Bread combo was huge and well received. Not a bad place to go for a snack.
This location is a lot fancier than the one near market village. We ordered the wings. There were a few flavours and we chose the honey garlic. There were fries and gravy as well. The flavour was quite delicious and the serving was pretty filling for the two of us.
