Review Mabu Generation - Markham

Great decent place for food with friends and for a quick bite. Tend to always come here before a movie to fill my stomach. The curry chicken rice is always good, fries are so yummy, wished they gave more than 1 broccoli though. The curry is a bit sweet but that’s how I like it. The takoyaki here is decent, don’t give a lot of that flake on top compared to other places and comes out fairly quickly. My go-to here is usually a sizzling plate or a noodle. The beef sizzling plate dish was a tad bit too salty due to the sauce but lots of meat given. The beef noodle (unsure of exact name) is always very good. Meat is soft, broth is good and very filling. The bubble tea here is eh, nice to have sometimes but could definitely get better around the area. Staff is nice and fairly tentative, overall great place even though prices have gone up a bit. Been coming here for many years. For a couple, we usually spend around $40-50 here.

My first time here as I hadn't try any tasty Taiwanese foods in Toronto. It didn't disappointed me, the foods were delicious, the portions were in good size, and the price was reasonable. The service was good except one male server was not very responsive as we asked him the question and he walked away and didn't get back to us. I will go back to try other different dishes.

The service was nice and efficient and there was a lot of options on the menu. The decor in the space was also nice! I got the shrimp tempura on rice while my partner got the deep fried pork cutlet on rice with mapo tofu sauce and both were pretty good! I wish that the sauce for the rice on my dish was on the side since it was a little bit difficult to mix with the other items on top but that’s probably just a nitpick. We also tried the fried bread with sesame and brown sugar and that was also really good! The outside of the bread was nice and crispy while the inside was still a little bit fluffy.

Visited on a special occasion with my family and I must say my miso pork hot pot was the best dish! It was extremely tasty, generous proportions, and the vermicelli was perfect with the broth. The mango brick toast was my first brick toast ever and was quite delicious. It did take over half an hour for it to be prepared, so order it in advance! Overall my family and I enjoyed our meals and would come again :)

The place was nice and clean. The service was excellent. Ordered their signature Taiwan style minced pork on rice. It was decent. The pork was flavorful, the tea eggs were savory and tasty, the pickles were delightful. The portions and prices were reasonable. I would think it would be much more practical to use a larger bowl instead of the current very full small bowl.

It was my second time here, it was great! The service was fast and super friendly. They were really busy but they were still able to keep in demand with their guests. I ordered popcorn chicken, fried tofu and one of their hotpot dishes. The portion was huge and we had leftovers for the next day. The price was decent not too expensive. Will definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

Perfect for a chilly day. Tons of steaming hot food variations to try and enjoy at this restaurant. Happy with the “get seated and minimal service”. Comparing it to previous years it is definitely different, but given the COVID situation i think it was great. It was interesting to see that this location was using disposable cutlery and cups. Not environmentally friendly, but will provide comfort to guests who are nervous about dining out. Will return for sure. Side note: My main issue with this location is the entrance. In cold months their entrance design just doesn’t work. Every time someone enters or leaves the establishment, there is a huge gust of cold air that always manages to get inside. Brrrrrr

Another amazing dessert joint! Mabu has got great hours for a late night snack and awesome lunch specials. We actually went for a late night snack! Even when we walked in at midnight the staff was still very welcoming and hosted us well. We tend to get a feeling of staff not really wanting to serve the clients, but not here! We ordered their specialty toast tower! Wow one of the best desserts i have had! Thanks!

Came here for dessert, was not disappointed! I ordered the souffle and it was delicious. The surface of the bananas were caramelised, and the souffle was nice and soft, going nicely with the icecream. However, it was really sweet (especially with the syrup) so I don't recommend this for anyone who doesn't like anything too sugary.

We got Deep fried squid balls for appetizers. It was nicely chewy and not greasy. We promptly wolfed those down.

The Deep fried cheese centered pork chop on rice looked really good on the menu so we tried that as well. And it was a good as it looked! Cheese oozed out of the porkchop giving a satisfying gooeyness along with the crunch of the batter.
DD#2 wanted soup and ordered Taiwanese style stewed beef noodle soup. This one was just ok. Nothing extraordinary.
From the hotplate options, we tried another Japanese style dish--black pepper teriyaki sauce on sliced chicken cutlet. It came with rice and was presented nicely in the hotplate. The black pepper was a tad heavy-handed and I would have liked it to be more balanced with the teriyaki sauce.

Had the most horrible experience here. The serve broke a glass. Pieces of glasses flew everywhere. It feel on my head and hit my leg. She didn’t bother to care, give me tissue and just pick up glasses on the floor. She didn’t even ask “are you okay”. Then I just didn’t bother to eat my food, just incase there’s pieces of glasses. I couldn’t believe this. Also, food is just normal and the price is a bit too high for these food.

The Taiwanese Style Popcorn Chicken was the first to arrive. I love popcorn chicken and will try to order it any time I see it on the menu. This Popcorn Chicken was decent. I thought that the batter was a little more thick and crumbly than usual though and just a tiny tad dry.
