Review Main Sushi - Markham

Awesome sushi place on Main Street markham! Love when they have the BOGO promotions to take advantage of on ubereats! Had this a while back and I remember being very satisfied with everything that we ordered! The salmon teriyaki had the nice glaze and really loved the fish sashimi offered here! Very fresh and this place has totally been a staple of Markham Main Street for many years! Great job overall and would totally recommend coming here! Ordered online at the end of the night and food arrived in a decent time. But wow, go read all the other one star reviews and they are completely right. The rice was a disgusting grey/brown colour. This is not acceptable. I really hope the online delivery apps take them off their system.

Favorite Sushi spot. Fresh and delicious everytime. Good Platter choice too. Prices are fair plus if you pay cash you get a discount.

Decided to give this place a try. Most of the food was average at best but we ordered an order of the black cod. Big mistakes. Mushy to the point that I think it’s spoiled. Disappointed. Edit: originally gave 2 stars. Now 1.. (0 if I could) as I complained and they said that the black cod is normal and suppose to be mushy/spoiled like that.

Thank you Main Sushi for the wonderful meal! First time ordering and it exceeded my expectations and price. The sashimi is bright and fresh, chicken & beef teriyaki is exactly how it should taste👍Excellent service and friendly staff. Will be returning for more 💙💙

This place is one in a million. The sashimi cuts are large and high quality. The black diamond roll is the best roll I have ever had. The service was also impeccable both times I've been there.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE OR EAT HERE!!!!! Went to go pick up a delivery order through a delivery app and the lady at the front was beyond rude. She ignored me initially. Once she chose to give me the time of day to at least tell her that I’m here to pick up, she insisted in coming back to pick up the order in 20 mins which is unheard of when picking up a delivery order. She also swore at me publicly in front of other customers. What kind of service is this? The worst experience as a delivery person. Definitely wouldn’t think of ordering here. Feeling mistreated..especially on Mother’s Day. Absolute worst!!!!!

We order online from this restaurant every now and then, but the last order had spoiled tuna in our sashimi boat. We asked the restaurant for a partial refund and they refused, claiming their fish was fine. The tuna smelled terrible and tasted mushy. Something wasn't right. We won't be ordering from here ever again.

Second visit

Came back for a second visit during lunch time on a Friday and the restaurant was pretty much empty. Initially, my parents would like to try their lunch special, but after seeing that the average price for a bento box is around $12(which includes 3 sushi, 6 maki, a bed of white rice, and salad), it seems like ordering a party tray ($32 for 44 peices of sushi, sashimi and maki) is a better deal for us and you get a more variety of fishes. The quality of the fish is not good. It was a lot worse than the very first experience with them. Also, the 10% discount for paying in cash is no longer valid. I will probably not come back to this restaurant.

First visit

Came here to get a party tray because my parents saw their ad, $30 for 38 pieces of sushi and rolls, with half pound of salmon sashimi (for free). We decided to give it a try since the promotion was very appealing. We were disappointed the moment we saw our party tray. They have only included 10 pieces of salmon sashimi, which I highly doubt that that's half a pound. Nonetheless, the quality of the sushi and rolls were no bad. The price of this party tray is still a steal. Just keep in mind that they are not really giving you half a pound of sashimi for free, it's more like it's already included in the price.

Average? if that. Went here for lunch today and I am the only customer. Average sushi, nothing special, not much decor, doesn't feel like a Japanese restaurant. The spicy salmon handroll seem small and I don't think they are using the right rice for sushi, it looks like long grain to me.

Sushi. Salmon Sashimi

-----06 Feb, 2015-----

Great spot. Sushi was fair in price. Good food and great setting during the weekday. Would come here again.

Good food, would go back again. Spacious. Decor wasn't too fancy but decent enough. Service was excellent. Great suggestions by the servers. Food was hot and fresh. Portions were decent.

They had a lobster sashimi prix fixe for 2 or 4 people. A multi-course event that included miso soup, green salad, sashimi, rolls, tempura, chicken skewers, korean styled bbq ribs or lamb rack, udon stir fry and dessert. About $25 per person.

Great Place!. We came here because we had a Groupon coupon and decided to give this place a try. When we called to make sure they were open, we had to make a reservation. When we walked in, the place wasn't even that crowded; we were surprised that we had to make a reservation. We were provided with a table near the window and were given menus. The place itself was quite large, with lots of open windows. There were a mixture of people there, from couples to groups of friends to families with children. The layout of the restaurant was attractive, with the sushi bar at the front of the restaurant when you walk in. We ordered the miso soup and seaweed salad to start. Both of the items came quickly and were delicious. The seaweed salad was a bit expensive and it was small, but it tasted great. After our appetizers, our main meals arrived. We ordered the casa loma roll, the spicy salmon roll, and the tuna roll. They were all delicious and tasted fresh. All of those items only cost $23, so we had to get something extra since our coupon was for $30. We decided on the tempura banana which was amazing! We could definitely recommend that to anyone with a sweet tooth. It was fried with chocolate hot sauce and vanilla ice cream on the side, it was great! The service was also great as well, they were very friendly and answered all of our questions with confidence and ease. It was quite a drive for us, so we may not be back, but we would definitely recommend this place to others!

The food was OK, the service is very slow it took 20min before our first item arrive. Price compare to quality is a bit expensive, I would say it is @$$ range from $7-$25. First time there from groupon deal, most unlikely we will go back again. With the price I had had a lot better quality food and service in the past.

Solid. Good fresh up the middle sushi restaurant. Definitely have more space now than original location. Good selection but would be nice to see them try something to break the mold of traditional sushi. Good go-to place with excellent takeout service.

New Location. It's actually moved to 144 Main St., Suite 2, and is actually called Main Sushi now. Look for the yellow sign that says Main Sushi. The sign is visible from Main St., but the front door faces south, and is tucked a little bit into the alley between the restaurant and the adjacent building. Yes, a little harder to find now, but totally worth it!

I've been there with small parties and large parties, and have had great service every time. Servers are always helpful with good suggestions when they noticed us being indecisive about our food.

Oh, and if you have old stamp cards from Tsukiji, bring them over, and they will transfer them to a new Main Sushi stamp card for you!

New Location. This place has moved up the street to 140 Main St. Markham. Sushi, sashimi and everything is just as excellent as the original location. Best authentic Japanese food in Markham.

First visit... I think. If I've been here before it was not as memorable. This time I ordered some of my favs. The daily specials had Uni, Hamachi rolls and Uni fried rice. I added Mackerel and my wife ordered Tempera rolls. They taste was decent and the quality was there but not a huge standout. Price was good but service was lacking. Crowded and slow. Not a first choice but a decent option. 75%

Good food (had crab meat rolls and another one which I forgot, but was delicious). Take out was fast and price was cheap ($8) including 10% cash and pick up discount. One thing they could do is get a container that has a specific section to pour the soy sauce into. Other than that, totally worth it!

As a gaijin. There are other sushi joints in town. Most offer an" all u can eat" deal, where anything left on your plate will cost you a dollar extra.(Above and beyond your "Plate" price) which is cool. At Tsukiji I've never had leftovers though, and I order a lot. I'm a big guy and I like my food, my largest bill there was still quite resonable for what I got. The owner and his wife(Wendy) are very nice and admittantly Korean as is most of their staff.(Their chef is Japanese). I mention this because I have eaten in many Japanese Sushi places, and paid more, and I can't tell the difference. They make you feel welcome regardless of your sushi I.Q. which is nice.

Fresh Sashimi. Nicely decorated sushi spot and the sashmi is very fresh.

Poor service, even for sushi restaurant. Our server completely forgot about our table's order. To kill time I signed up to urbanspoon and am writing this review at my table, just brutal.

This is the best restaurant on the planet and it is amazing!

Main Street in Markham is a picturesque area with a small town feel. On this occasion, we came to eat some sushi at a Chinese-owned Japanese restaurant. We ordered the dinner for 2, which included a lot of food for $49.99. We started with a simple Japanese salad and miso soup. I was happy that the combo also included tempura shrimp and vegetables , featuring the typical yam and zucchini. Although I would've liked a larger variety of vegetables (like squash and eggplant), these were still pretty satisfying. Rolls are my favorite part of a Japanese meal! It's pretty hard to mess up dynamite rolls and California rolls , and these were predictably delicious. However, I generally prefer my rolls with less rice so that I wouldn't get full as easily.
