Dumplings are the must. Yet to try their other stuff. My 1 chicken dumpling order took 25 mins but it was a busy lunch hour so I guess that was the reason.
Tip: Serve with a smile on your face
No idea what were the items ordered since my parents took the wheel for this one. I just sat and ate, teehee. Their restaurant space is small but they made it work with marble tables and Chinese style chairs… The walkway area was really tight though. Tea was offered and there were several type of sauces to fit your taste – vinegar, soya sauce and even chili oil!
First off the homemade dumplings are great. Who doesn't love homemade dumplings?
Also they have other stuff on the menu that's a fave such as the braised eggplant, the Chinese pancakes with meat, little pork strips and too many more to mention.
Plus it's cheap!! A must place to go for sure.
When choosing a quick stop for lunch on weekends, half of the time I opt to re-visit an old favourite and the rest of the time I like to try some place new. Before heading out, The Hubby and I talk about what we’re craving that day and a quick Google search will narrow down our selection. This was how we ended up at Chinese Dumpling House one Saturday after running errands nearby.
tried this location after eating at the newer location on Creditview. The place is rather cramped- maybe if the took out a couple of tables. I had hot and sour soup and fried pork dumplings. The soup portion was huge and the soup was good but not great. I have had better elsewhere. I prefer the fried dumplings over the steamed ones which seem a little bland. The vinegar that they serve is rather inferior and I'd prefer the red wine vinegar instead. Service was fast and efficient but not overly friendly- perhaps the language barrier?
I found this place on Urban Spoon a year or so ago and I admit the place isn't anything special to look at and it is cramped BUT THE FOOD IS AMAZING. The prices are very reasonable and the service is fast and efficient. (they don't speak English but they understand what I am ordering)
I usually have the Kung Pao Chicken or Beef fried Noodle (both extra spicy) pan fried pork and chive dumplings and sometimes the sweet and sour crispy fried pork which is really good too.
Keep in mind they only take cash and it is worth the drive to Markham from Mississauga.
Best dumplings in town. It's in a strip mall but it's loads better than fancier places and banquet halls in Markham.
Excellent. This place makes great dumpling and wonton soup. I have never seen so much effort and creative effort goes into a under $19 wonton soup. Seaweed and tiny shrimp add to the soup base. Wow!
That's more like it. Looking for a place to eat after a conference in town we popped in here late one evening. Turned out the dumpling chef was about to close down for the night, so when we indicated to the waitress that we were indeed there to try the dumplings she kicked into gear - ran to check that we still had time to order, ran back with an english translation template of the dumpling menu, did her best to overcome the language barrier to help us decide what to order, then was literally hopping up and down - anxious to get our order in before the chef packed it in for the night. Now that's service. Then she came back to help us order from the rest of the menu.
The food was good but the dumplings.....outstanding! We ordered two varieties that come in the traditional bamboo steamer. I could have sat there eating those dumplings all night they were that good. And we had a blast there as well. Looking forward to going back.
Very good value. Had someone with me that understood chinese, this was probably helpful when we chose our meals. Also we were a better of when it came to tasting different things
Cheaper than fast food, 100x better.... My mom introduced me to this restaurant several years ago, and I've been back with my wife, family and friends numerous times. Not only is the amount of food you get for the money impressive, but the quality of the ingredients makes you wonder how places like Wendy's and Subway can still stay open in Markham.
For example, you can get 15 of the most delicious steamed dumplings you have every tried (unless your mom is Chinese and knows how to make dumplings) for less than $5.
Their hand-made "lai-mein" is also the best lai-mein I've had in Toronto, although there's a place in Pacific Mall that comes close. Firm texture, just the right amount of doughiness and bursting with freshness... yeah, you're probably thinking "c'mon they're noodles.. how bursting with freshness can they be?". If you're thinking this, then you either haven't tried them yet or you have a defective palate.
Not all is perfect though.... the wait staff speaks primarily Mandarin, and the menu items, when translated into English, become uninterpretable. So if you are like me, and can only speak Cantonese at a 6-year old level and are essentially illiterate in Chinese, either memorize the menu items by number or make some real Chinese friends real quick :)
It's all about the texture of the food here!. The Markham location is at the SW corner of Hwy 7 and Commerce Valley Dr. West.
As the name suggests, the specialty here is their dumplings. You must try! There are many good selections for the filling, but it's the dumpling wrap that is exceptional! It has just the right level of chewiness without being tough or sticky.
The beef noodles here are also great. The broth is flavourful, but the best part again is the texture of the noodles.
For the adventurous, try sliced pork belly under cold appetizers in the menu. It is delicious and not oily and heavy as the name might imply.
Excellent food!
Authentic northern Chinese style dumplings and beef noodle soup. Chinese Dumpling House is a solid restaurant specializing in northern-style dishes. We (two of us) ordered a serving of steamed pork and leek dumplings (15), and a bowl of beef noodle soup. We considered ordering one of the fried pancakes, but this was already a lot of food. The freshness of the dumplings is unquestionable -- two ladies in the front are making them -- and the beef noodle soup was rich and tasty.
The Dumpling House is an alternative to the food court inside the mall. There's maybe 10 to 12 tables. The menu is in English and Chinese, but isn't numbered so that ticking off the right items with a pencil on the order sheet is a challenge. No matter, the waitress is nearby and friendly.
This restaurant will stay on my list of choices of places to eat when I'm in the neighbourhood. It falls in the category of "you can't eat decor" furnishings, so it's not the place for a romantic date. The washrooms are Chinatown-grade (i.e. open the wrong door, and you'll be in the storeroom).
I've been eating here for years. The dumplings and noodles are all handmade. You actually see them right out front making the dumplings. Not a very big place so you will have to wait for a seat. A great example of how you can eat great food at a very reasonable price.
With about a dozen varieties of dumplings to choose from I had originally wanted the leek, pork and shrimp version (found in the English menu). Unfortunately, we could not find it on the order sheet so settled on the pork, chive and egg steamed dumplings ($4.99) instead. Fifteen of them were made to order by two ladies constantly wrapping at the store’s entrance and within 15 minutes arrives at our table
The noodles were very good texture wise but the broth could of had more flavour. The braised beef was very tender and had the right texture.
Dumplings! Dumplings! I love Dumplings!
It is fun to watch those ladies making the dumplings right in front of my eyes! Even they make the wrapping skin! The dumplings tasted really good! Not Salty! with a lot of soup inside and the skin is nice and thin... (YUMMMMMMY)
The wrapping of the steamed dumplings is just so good. One of the best I had in the GTA.
I will definitely be back again for some more dumplings!!
The service is fast and efficient! Just get your food and eat it fast and get out quick!

This little dumpling hut serves the best dumplings in all of Toronto. Period! Not only are they made fresh daily, but they steam it to perfection as soon as you order them. Their dumpling wrap is one of a kind since it is so thin (almost see through) but you can still taste the texture. I usually get the leek and pork or the lamb dumpling. On this visit, I ordered the Hot and Sour soup, Green Onion Pastry, and the Singapore Fried Noodles. The soup has just the right balance between Hot and Sourness. During the winter, a bowl of this soup really warms up your inner loins. The Green Onion Pastry was so crispy, stuffed to perfection with pieces of egg and vermicelli. Finally, the Singapore noodle came with thin vermicelli but the curry sauce was not as strong to my liking. Otherwise, it was fine. They have other spicy dishes and stews as well which are done top notch. Don't miss out.
Tried the veggie and mushroom dumplings and my son had chicken dumplings.Very tasty didn’t feel thirsty after so no msg . The service was friendly and the food came fast.
Wait time was kinda long for the food but the dumplings were worth the wait, reminded me of eating homemade dumpling. The minced meat noodles was very surprising as the texture of the noodles was chewy and had a nice bite to it. But let me stress this point,
CASH CASH CASH
Very homey and 1000% recommend it to you guys
Been coming here for over 10 yrs. I rarely get their dumplings, their main dishes are my favourite. Crispy chicken (get 2 orders trust me), great scallion pancake and then their vegetarian dishes are incredible. After 10 yrs it tastes the same. Incredible
Okay so I've eaten here since I was a kid and it's been the same woman making the dumplings all these years. This is straight up the best dumpling place I've ever been to and I don't trust dumplings from any other place. Their pan fried pork dumplings, and pork dumplings with chinese celery - can't go wrong with these.
Other good dishes: green onion pancakes (super unique), meatball hot pot (direct translation from chinese is "lion head meatball"), sweet and sour crispy pork (different from your normal sweet and sour pork, they're like slices instead of balls of pork with a different batter), hot and sour soup, and pan fried beef shank in pancakes.
The dumplings here are the best! The lamb is my favourite. It's always made fresh and the flavours are good. The spicy hot pot is popular here so decided to try it and I also enjoyed it. The meat wrap is also really good but it's a simple dish but made well. Definitely a good restaurant although service could be friendlier.
Fresh homemade dumplings. Lots of choices. We had pan fried pork and leek dumplings, steamed chicken dumplings and onion pancake. Delicious
Update August 2020: Thought I would revisit given that the restaurant made it through C19. Oddly, the dumplings this time around were more dry than I find ideal and the soup okay. The green onion pancake was enjoyable though.

Check this place out for authentic Chinese dumplings, soups and other good stuff.
Been here a few times and the price is fair for the quality and quantity. Easy to drive to with plenty of free parking in the lot. Order from the paper menu by checking off what you want. Not a high style place but in China the restaurants that specialize in dumplings will have an open view of the dumplings being made and you get a bit of that here to add to your dining experience.
Definitely get an order of dumplings because that is really what this place is all about.
Payment is only by cash or debit card.
Enjoy!
