I came here a year ago (March 2017) and had an average experience. While the food was delicious, I wasn't too impressed with the service nor the portion sizes. This all changed earlier this week when one of the owners reached out to me personally (Javier). He thanked me for the constructive feedback and invited me to give it another shot, even offering a complimentary dessert. I decided to take him up on his offer for Valentine's Day Dinner with my wife. We were immediately greeted by a friendly face and seated at a table for 2. The server (Trinidad) was friendly, energetic, and knowledgeable. Within minutes, I knew the service was going to be awesome. We ordered from the set menu, included Ceviche for apps, Half Chicken Dinner and Lomo Saltado for entrees, and Helado de Lucuma and Picarones for dessert (we decided to try both desserts with our comp dessert). Every food item was delicious, flavourful and satisfying. I especially love the freshly made yuca fries in their green sauce. I'm salivating just thinking of this. I could continue to rave about each of the dishes, but I want to just highlight the extra mile they went to over-deliver. Not many restaurant owners (and people in general for that matter) truly value constructive feedback. Despite having many rave reviews already, Javier reached out and personally ensured I was 100% satisfied. Los Chicos delivered an incredible culinary experience with top notch service. Wait times can be a bit long when the restaurant is busy, but the food is well worth a slight wait. I'm glad I gave this place another shot :) -- Review from March 13, 2017, Los Chicos Markham -- Food delicious (8/10). Portion sizes mediocre (6/10). Service disappointing (2/10). Overall: 3/5. When I first entered this place, I felt transported to another world. The ambiance, smell, and decor did an amazing job to set the tone. First impressions were also strong with friendly staff and smiling faces. We were seated at one of the last tables (6 of us). It was a busy (Sun afternoon), which is a good thing. Here is where things took a slight turn downhill. After we were seated, we waited for what felt like 15-20 minutes before we asked for water. While we were having a good time, we started getting fairly thirsty quickly. After getting up to get the attention of a server, they brought us water. After the initial service, they never refilled our empty glasses / pitchers. I didn't ask for a refill, and was curious if they would check on us. While I will be more proactive next time, my experience has been servers checking in when our glasses were empty. As we were looking at the menus, I noticed the takeout menu is a few dollars cheaper than the sit-down menu. Not sure why, but something to note. After taking our orders, it took a long time for our food to come. And while I understand the place is busy and people have off days, it seemed our table was specifically ignored. We had to go out of our way to get the attention of staff, while other tables would be proactively approached by the wait staff & owner/manager. We had a similar experience waiting for the bill. There was a long wait time after eating before having to ask for the bill, followed by another long period before having to get the attention of another server to ask for our bill. I've seen a few other positive reviews and have no doubt this place is excellent. If you haven't had Peruvian chicken, I highly recommend checking this place out. It's like Swiss Chalet, but with better and more exotic flavours -- though smaller portion sizes. I definitely plan to check this place out again. While our experience with their service was poor this past weekend, I'm sure it was just a one-off. The staff were friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere is eclectic. I'm looking forward to giving this place another shot :)

I am updating this review because the owner apologized for the bad service and even gave me a family meal on the house because of what happened which was a pleasant surprise.

It's rare that places of business will take the blame for bad service. Usually when I give low ratings they snap at me saying I'm being Too harsh so I'm glad that los chicos was able to go above and beyond for this.

I really do love the food here especially their yuca fries. They are so addictive!!!!' Thank you again los chicos. I will be coming back :)

One of the Best Peruvian Rotisserie Places. I have been going to this Place for many years and every single time the rotisserie chicken always hits and if you add the sauces that have spices added to it. It gives the chicken an extra kick that makes everything so much better. My typical order is the Whole chicken and the Yuca fries but I have tried many of there other items and everything is delicious. If you are near the markham area I would recommend anybody to check them out they are absolutely a restaurant gem and always consistent.

Food was delicious. There are shareable plates on the menu too. Went with the famous Peruvian pollo a la brasa. Chicken was tender and flavourful. Service was also good. Will definitely be going again.

I loved the ceviche. The lomo saltado steak was a little dry but the ceviche was excellent. It's a raw dish so I just hope it was prepared properly because I don't wanna get sick nor have parasites. I'm guessing it's safe because they serve it. I've never had it before but I loved it. Will definitely stop by again.
