There were actually so many types of sushi rolls and rolls and dishes on the menu. Everything was all vegetarian. Even though a sushi roll may be made with “shrimp” or some kind of “fish”, all of them were either soy-based or made from vegetables so that there was no animal by-product at all.
This restaurant is very vegan friendly. PETA approved. Most of their dishes are vegan and only few items contain eggs. Mention that you are vegan and they are going to accommodate. Friendly service.
Fake salmon tastes like the real deal (to be fair all salmon is fake anyways). A la cart items can be a bit pricey. I suggest that you stick to bento boxes. Complimentary tea.
Overall great place for vegan sushi.
I can get my vegan sushi fix, ever since joe Yee closed down! I love the spicy salmon, the dragon rolls, and all the yummy wontons! My new go to for vegan sushi
Nice decor, friendly staff, reasonably priced, fast service, amazing food! Will definitely be back to try more. Loved the tea, miso soup edamame, sushi, vegetarian chicken, tempura, and lovely selection of appropriately portioned ice creams we all enjoyed. Thanks for a memorable meal!
Excellent vegetarian Thai/Chinese/Japanese in Markham!. Firstly I am not a vegetarian at all. I am the guy in summer grilling the 1-1/2 inch thick rare T-bone in the backyard while inhaling the intoxicating fumes of charring Grade A Alberta beef. I do like Tofu as an adder in dishes like phad thai, but not typically on its own. Reading the menu I was certainly intrigued as to what "vegetarian beef" could be. Despite my trepidations, Tenon was so good I will definitely go back. We ordered take-out: vegetarian shrimp with chili and basil, vegetarian duck with red curry, and fried tofu with cashew. All of it was very tasty and also impressed my Chinese parents-in-law - just to give the place adequate street cred. The tofu duck in particular was really good, nice smoky taste to the tofu and the curry was very nicely flavoured. The staff was very nice and the waiter held the door for me on the way out - nice touch. Will definitely go back again and again.
It is the second time that I went to this resataurant. Our first image was that it must be a genuine Japanese restaurant in view of its food and setting. However, you do not feel strong Japanese atmosphere. Firstly, its greeting style is very different from that of a traditional Japanese restaurant. Secondly, the waitresses' costumes do not carry any Japanese style. Despite the above, the service of which is generally good. All the waitresses are friendly and receptive to customers. Meanwhile, it provides more than a hundred of food for you to choose such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, handrolls, etc. All of them look like real food by naked eyes. Of course, these foods are tasted differently because they are made of vegetarian elements. Overall speaking, the foods which we have ordered are delicious and give us a refreshing feeling. The prices are also good. It's worth my recommendation.
Finally ate here for the first time, a year after ordering some not so fresh takeout from them 🤣
I had the agedashi tofu, mixed vegetable tempura, and rainbow roll. Tofu was fine but seemed completely unseasoned & also had too much water inside of it imo (and I'm not someone that presses their tofu lmao).
Tempura was great, and the rainbow roll was fine but it is a bit weird that it only comes with 1 piece of vegan salmon. The rest of the rolls had the vegan shrimp inside, which was good, but it was a little disappointing since I had picked that item due to it having vegan salmon listed in the ingredients.
Would def come here again to try the other dishes, esp since the price is not bad, but there are some things that can be improved imo
Always delicious! I am not a vegan but in comparison, this is just as tasty and the textures are on point! Service is always great here too.
I love their sushi. Sushi is really a specialty for this restaurant. I also normally order agedashi tofu, Thai fish for my side dishes. They make the best in the town, especially Thai fish. And I like the idea of the dish, sushi pizza. It’s one of my favourites, too.
We had a wonderful lunch at Tenon Vegetarian restaurant. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was delightful. We had our own private booth that had a lovely Japanese decor. ( no extra cost)
We can't wait to eat there again and bring our friends.
Delicious vegetarian sushi that looks like the real thing. The restaurant makes salmon sashimi from gelatine that is no different than actual salmon sashimi. Everything is presented beautifully and made with care. The restaurant has private rooms that seats four which is really nice when you just want to chat with friends. The menu is extensive and there are a variety of options to choose from. Lots of parking nearby as it is located in a plaza.
If you're a vegetarian and miss eating sushi, definitely come to this place. It is unique in it's own way and the food is delicious. I love the atmosphere in the Unionville location and the service is good as well. Bring a few people with you and order different sushi, so you can try a lot. This is my second time at this location and have not been disappointed with the food. Ended up trying the bento box with my girlfriend if you want something simple with a variety of items.
First time trying a vegetarian restaurant, a lot of the dishes we tried was quite good. Favorite has to be the dish that looks like roasted duck, the skin is the best part.
