I love desserts very much and this place quites so fancy but wont fail you..excellent desserts!!!..high quality ingredients...my cravings been satisfied just by looking on at every display lol..sweet tooth solved..highly reccomended 👍👍👍
We got the Pistachio Brioche, Smoked Gouda and Cheddar Brioche and Gâteau basque (Matcha cream with Raspberry). The brioche were all so good and wonderfully flaky. The flavours were not overpowering. The Pistachio Brioche was on the sweet side but great to see actual, and a decent amount of, pistachios in the buttery brioche. I especially liked the Smoked Gouda and Cheddar Brioche. It had the right amount of saltiness and good amount of cheese. I wasn’t much of a fan of the Gâteau basque, but then again, am not too much of a fan of Matcha. I wished I got some Citrus brioche instead. I smell a next time coming :)
I usually don't like fancy looking cakes but the cake named "Virgo" was delicious. It had a hint of espresso taste. Just right.
The London fog is on point. The people are nice and neat looking. Nice place to sit and chat. The only thing is that the seats are too close to each other. I can hear every conversation in this place.
Came here at the recommendation of a friend. Had a coffee and some pastries to take home. Coffee was standard but the pastries were delicious; bit on the pricier end but well worth it, in my opinion. The cafe itself is quite small in size, not much seating, may want to consider just buying your baked goodies and then devouring it at home! Staff are super friendly; would recommend and will return in the near future! :)
This place is AMAZING! I have a huge sweet tooth and saw the reviews and knew I had to make the trip up here. The pictures you see on zomato is exactly what you will see in person. Their desserts are very delicious and carefully displayed. They also have numerous baked goods like croissants, turnovers and other savory snacks. My only beef is they are not located in Toronto and you need to do a long trek to Markham to enjoy their sweets. Also, you need a car. I really hope they will expand and open a location downtown.
I had wanted to try Duo for a long time now and very excited that I finally had the chance to! I've heard so many good things about this little bakery and let me tell you, I was not disappointed 🤗!
Located in a busy strip mall, this bakery houses the most delectable pastries and cakes! On my visit I tried the Mont Blanc. The cake was soft, smooth and very delicious. There were bits of chestnuts found in the cake, that I personally adore! The bottom of the cake was made of wholesome shortbread, which is one of my all time favorite cookies in this world. So, the Mont Blanc was absolutely perfect for me!😄
I also ordered a cup of matcha green tea latte (cold) because it was a hot summer day. My friend also opted for the Mont Blanc that day because it was simply very appealing to the both of us!🤔 However, for her drink she landed on the hot chocolate. I noticed how rich the color of the hot chocolate was and asked one of the store front staff about it. She advised me that it was because it was made of 60% cocoa. I told her I can tell because I remember ordering a sipping chocolate at another cafe and the color was equally as rich. Duo uses very high quality ingredients and it was evident that they do. This was found in the cakes and drinks they served. My matcha green tea latte similar to the hot chocolate was enriched with green tea flavor. After sipping it, you would notice a tinge of bitterness on your palate. All in a good way however, a very unique and refreshing taste all in all.😇
Our stay there was quite enjoyable! The staff took the time to answer all our questions and made our stay warm and relaxing. We also saw how the cafe sold out of all their cakes and pastries, 2 hours before the store actually closed! The staff explained because they use quality ingredients they only make a set amount of cakes and parties per day and it's very difficult for them to watch dissapointed customers come in and their favorite delights are sold out.😯 Yes! Duo is really that good!😃
I'm very eager to return back to Duo to try other scrumptious baked goods there! The roast beef mushroom crossiant, the salami n cheese croissant, the freshly baked danishes and canele, just to name a few!😶 I can't wait to return to Duo to feast on more yummy baked delights! I seriously cannot wait to return!😋❤🍴🍰
All I can say is "delectable"! The moment you walk in, a beautiful aroma of butter, sugar and downright deliciousness pulls you further in! Everything is presented beautifully! I ordered a variety of items & I can't say that I liked any one thing more than another. Everything was wonderful!! I might just have to make a trip back out here to try everything else!
This is one of my favourite places to go to for patisserie in the Markham/Richmond Hill area. They don't have a very large selection of cakes, but they update their menu with new creations often. Their bakery items are really yummy too, especially the ultra flakey Pain Au Chocolate. Two of my favourite cakes of theirs are the Lemon Tart and the Hazel. The cakes are great to treat yourself with once in a while ;3
Love the coffee and food! I love huzalnut. Their huzalnut dessert is amazing. It was soft and melted in my mouth. If you love dessert. Great place to try!
Nelson @duo_patisserie: These amazing looking creations are from a French bakery opened by Chinese owners. Judging based on this one item, I would say they are doing a good job. This pasty called Yuco looks amazing. These were used in place of a wedding cake as the bakery made two extra big ones and they sure do look fancy.
Cakes and pastries are intrigue. Pricings are fair for such decent quality. Amazing presentation and service. I'm impressed by its consistency in service and quality. I visited the cafe at noon time on a Thursday and it was packed with customers, it definitely reflects how good the products are. Totally worth coming if you've never been.
I've been wanting to try this cafe because the pictures of the cakes look so pretty!
I thought the cakes were reasonable price (around the $6-8 range).
I got Autumn ($6.75) because of the pumpkin creme brulee. In the centre, there is a nice squash compote. I thought this tasted very unique and unlike any other cakes I've ever had because of the squash compote. This was my favourite cake out of the 3 I ordered.
Next, we got a pistachio cake with raspberry on top. I personally thought that the two flavours did not go together. I would've been happier if there were crushed pistachio on top. Also, I found that the raspberry taste overcame the pistachio flavour. This was my least favourite cake.
Lastly, was the chestnut cake (Mont Blanc). If you like chestnut, you would love this cake. The flavour was really strong!
I would definitely come back here to try their other cakes! Also, the lady working there was very polite!
photos from this bakery have been blowing up my social media for the past few months.
L its located on the front part of a plaza full of restaurants. The majority of parking is in the back with a small amount of parking in the front where this shop is.
The store front is very discrete, you wouldn't even realise what it is.
There are a few tables and chairs, a display with goodies, you can see some people in the back assembling. They bake on site. It is great because you can see them working!
Flaky buttery croissants. Almond, chocolate, fruit, pistachio filled. I love them all!!! It is so worth the purchase. There are a few fancier pastries. Love the pistachio with Raspberries, and lemon tart. Delicious. I want to eat it everyday. Everyday!! Well not the macaroons, they suck, oh and the cakes, don't get those either, but everything else is 5 stars. My fiends all go crazy over the chestnut flavoured mont blanc's. They, as well as everything else, looks as wonderful as they taste.
I'm not going to lie, its pricy but 100% worth it. They use obvious fresh quality ingredients, and make everything fresh daily!!
Come early, they are really busy all day.
Duo Patisserie & Cafe opened last fall- as the name implies, they offer a wide selection of delicious pastries! Over the past year, this cafe has quickly become one the local favourites (also one of my favourites too)! We have seen the little shop grow in popularity and it has become nearly impossible to snag a table in their seating area during the weekends. However, on this rare occasion, we were able to find a seat..
Typically, we just purchase their pastries for home to avoid the crowd and to save time, but eating in is also very enjoyable. Their interior is very clean and modern and you can also peak into their kitchen in the back.
We've tried a number of the croissants at Duo and the '8' is definitely our favourite! At this point, I should probably mention that all of their croissants taste great! The buttery croissants are perfectly flaky and are never overly sweet. If you choose to dine in, croissants are typically warmed up for your enjoyment.
I finally got to stop in and try this place. Best pain au chocolate I've ever had, and by a significant margin. I would rate the cappuccino above those of Mercury, Manic, Dark Horse, Cherry Bomb, etc., amongst the very best I've had in the GTA.
I absolutely loved this place! The interior was so cute and the baked goods were delicious! My Danish came on a cute little cutting board with a saying on it and it tasted amazing! Would love to go back here if I'm ever in Markham again
Delicious croissants, delicious desserts, and delicious beverages! They deserve all the success there is as long as they keep up the amazing work! I wish in a way, they would have more selection than what they have available, currently but then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it! The staff are all extremely friendly and very knowledgeable and it's always a positive experience, whether I'm dining in or doing a take-out. Highly recommended.
Restaurant: Duo Pâtisserie & CaféLocation: 4, 230 Commerce Valley Drive East, Markham, ON L3T 7Y3Price Range: $$Overall: 4/5. Duo Pâtisserie & Café. As you can see it was snowing that day, yet I still stood outside to take this pic for you guys, LOVE ME. From the outside Duo looks quite plain, I wish they had some decorations or design to give the place a bit more of a Pâtisserie feel. However, since they’re located in a plaza, I guess they couldn’t do something different with the exterior.
Hello from Blogsters! We invite you to come indulge in the heaven of French pastries and coffee with us today at Duo Pâtisserie & Café ! On a lazy Friday afternoon, Janet brought Joyce to a new local cafe. With clean and minimalistic interior arrangements, the small cafe has a few dine-in seatings available. Joyce got excited soon as she saw the pastries on display! There weren't a lot of selections on the day we went but that eased up our indecisiveness significantly because we wanted to try everything! Coffee- Cappucino/ Flat White ($3.50) Absolutely loved their coffee. Beautifully crafted, served with simple latte art, it was rich and aromatic with just the right amount of espresso and milk. Honey Twist ($2.50) Wanting to try something simple and sweet...
Duo Patisserie & Cafe is a new addition to the Markham area, and a much needed addition. Located on Highway 7 and the 404, it is a very easy access for many in this area. They specialize in coffee and pastries. They can make a number of specialty drinks (all espresso based) and they also have a wide range of pastries from sweet to savory.
Overall, I am very happy with this new addition to my area! I've always wanted to find somewhere to order pastries and lattes, besides Starbucks (I guess), so this is just perfect. I can definitely see myself coming back here soon!
This is heaven!. This place is amazing! Everything I had so far tastes like little bites of heaven! Their croissant is super crispy and flaky on the outside and buttery soft and light/fluffy on the inside. Their chestnut cake is not sugary but extremely flavorful, a delightful dessert to share with someone. Their espresso bar is also outstanding! I used to be a barista myself and let me say how delicious their lattes were! Highly recommended!
This was the first ever dessert that gave me this sensation of wanting to eat more afterwards! It was truly unique and I really liked it. :) I was also surprised I liked it because I am usually not a fan of coconut bits on anything. However, the coconut was actually infused as a nectar and made it so soft and smooth and embedded into the light cheesecake.
I'm really happy about this wonderful patisserie called Duo Patisserie that opened up in the Markham/Richmond Hill area. Their pastries and cakes are awesome! I have been going there almost every weekend since I discovered this place and have tried almost everything. Everything there is guaranteed delicious.
Recently opened in Richmond Hill is Duo Patisserie and Cafe. The story behind the name of the patisserie is heart warming: the two owners, Rocky & Eric have been best friends since they were 6 years old and this cafe is a celebration of the duo.
Duality also comes into play with the food and drinks: Eric is the patissier while Rocky mans the coffee. Speaking of coffee, their coffee is ordered in weekly and grinded in-store.
Upon entering the store, the two have done an incredible job cleaning up the place: white walls, blond wood and sleek grey floors. Incredibly clean and modern looking.
They have many pastries available such as plain croissants, chocolate croissants, almond croissant, apple croissants, ham and cheese croissants, and something called a "8", one version which had lightly bruleed vanilla custard and the other with berries. There's several flavours of macarons and a selection of pretty little cakes, including a Mont Blanc.
We got the plain croissant, almond croissant, apple tart, the 8, a Mont Blanc and an Oolong macaron, lemon tart, Pistache Tart to share.
Hands down the Oolong Macaron ($2.50) was one of our favourites. Perfect ratio of filling to exterior, and the oolong flavour is very prominent which we appreciated.
The plain croissant ($2.50) was buttery and flaky with a crusty exterior that collapsed into a light, fluffy inside. One of the best croissants I've had - no exaggeration. The almond croissant ($3.00) and 8 ($2.75) were also among my favourites - not too sweet and perfectly flaky and MAN, that almond filling in the croissant is to die for.
The Mont Blanc ($7.00) was a little too sweet for my liking but execution wise was very good. The apple croissant ($3.00) was a little underwhelming and there was nothing special about it (would not order again) although I was very impressed with the uber thin apple slices on top. It was really pretty!
The LEMON TART ($4): is very tart and refreshing in comparison to all the other desserts, but that is why we absolutely love it. The balance of shortbread to lemon curd is perfect. The presentation is nothing too fancy like the Mont Blanc or Pistache, but don't let the looks discourage you from trying this delicious treat!
And lastly, got the PISTACHE ($7) - The shortbread crust adds a great crunchy texture to the light pistachio filling inside. This dessert has a light pistachio cream which is not too overwhelming and topped with raspberries to give it that fruity kick. If you are looking for something that is not as sweet as the popular Mont Blanc, the Pistache is a great option.
Based on this first visit to Duo, I'm very pleased with the pastries. A nice addition to Richmond Hill. Be warned that they do price their pastries at downtown-Toronto pricing (ie. a little more $$$!) but I'm fine with paying more for something that is better quality and hey, at least we don't have to go downtown now!
I was just so excited the moment I stepped inside duo Patisserie & Cafe.
That buttery smell lingering in the air. I could see the pastry chef preparing all these baked goods from the back of the Cafe.
I was in love when I saw those Croissants ($2.50 - $3): So fluffy, buttery and I could not make up my mind: Plain? Ham and Cheese? Almond? Chocolate? Apple? 8? Apple was just so delish and heavenly... you gotta to try it!!
Macaroons ($3): 7 different flavours including Matcha, Oolong, Earl Grey
Cakes ($5.50 and up): Hazel, Mont Blanc, Lemon Tart, Pistache and even a Gluten Free Ginger option!
Espresso drink using beans from local Pilot Coffee Roasters pilotcoffeeroasters.com . If you are a fan of Te Aro and Crafted, you would enjoy what they serves here. All the drinks are made with double shot espresso and the flavour is bolded and balanced.
Service here is excellent and friendly. Rocky, the barista even remember my name after we introduced each other. The duo: Barista and Pastry Chef working hard to prepare and serve the customers.
Love the greyish tones that they picked for colour theme. There is even a nice seating area if you want to enjoy your coffee and sweet.
I will definitely be back to try out other dessert. Mont Blanc for $7 probably be the next on my list paired with a Americano!
Price though is definitely downtown pricing. But at least I don't need to travel all the way downtown to have a decent cup of cappuccino.
I welcome the "duo" to the neighbourhood and wish them the best of luck!
Duo Patisserie & Cafe is a newly opened French patisserie in Markham specializing in French pastries. Co-owner Deborah has done a great job with the interior design of the place (clean, glossy white interior with an open kitchen). This cafe is the brainchild of Rocky and Eric, two bestfriends since the age of 6. Rocky will be front of house manning the coffee bar while Eric will be back of house making the pastries. Feel free to tell Rocky that I sent you!

Duo Patisserie & Cafe is probably the best new shop to open up in Markham, a great French patisserie. Duo opened up this past October and it hasn't had a lot of media coverage yet, their website is still under construction. The cafe is located on Highway 7 and Leslie Street, super convenient for all us uptown kids.
The interior is super clean and modern, the walls and furniture in all white. You can even look into their kitchen to see their production. The duo behind Duo are Rocky and Eric, two best friends. Eric makes the pastries and Rocky is front of house manning the coffee bar.
Their selection of croissants that day were plain, ham & cheese, honey twist, pain au chcolat and almond, the prices range from $2.50 - $3.50.
They have a beautiful selection of plated desserts, everything is made in house and they use the finest ingredients with some products even shipped from France. Duo also sells french macarons ($3.00 each) with flavours like oolong, matcha, and earl grey. I didn't have a chance to try any but I'll probably make another very visit soon.
I got the Mont Blanc and Hazel to go.
The Mont Blanc ($7.00) was perfect, I've never had a Mont Blanc with so much chestnut puree and whole chestnuts. The short bread tart filled with vanilla sponge, a dome of whipped cream and encased in ultra smooth chest puree.
The Hazel ($6.00), chocolate mousse on top of a thin chocolate round and a short bread disk with sesame seeds. The mousse had a super intense dark chocolate flavour, Rocky mentioned that the chcolate was imported from France. I liked the sesame seeds on the short bread, it gave the dessert extra texture and another flavour profile.
I had a bite of the plain croissant and it was flaky and light.
I like how Duo puts a lot of thought into their packaging, instead of using paper bags for their croissants, they opted for wax paper ones to keep that disgusting grease stain from seeping through the bag. I also noticed that they had take away boxes for single desserts and their macaron boxes are awesome as well.
Finally, there is a pastry and coffee shop with reasonable price in uptown ????. Duo Patisserie & Cafe has good coffee with my favourite brand and beans. ????. They have a modern coffee bar which allows the barista to chat with their customers.
Croissant is good! Inside is so soft. And the dessert, Hazel gives me and my friends a great surprise. Under the rich chocolate mousse is a piece of crispy biscuit with black and white sesame.
I will definitely revisit it frequently ????
