Review Carmelina Italian Restaurant - Markham

Amazing Italian food, service and environment. Live music played and personalized. One gentleman even played and sang a classic Chinese song. Our server was kind and fun, played with our child too. Clean beautiful interior design. Definitely a hidden gem in Markham.

Updated Review: my partner and I returned here last night for dinner and I was very displeased after having such a good experience the first time... It was very slow Monday night atmosphere in the restaurant. They had the front area open despite the cold weather, and it was quite drafty inside. Our server was very nice but quite clumsy and dropped our bruschetta all over the table, we waited for her to come back with a new bruschetta... But it looks like they just re-plated the previous one, very not impressed. And she dropped some of the vegetables from my partner's main course as well (she did bring more over after and was constantly apologizing). The fungi risotto I ordered was very bland. We ordered dessert and she cleared the plates, but then we waited over half an hour for her to come with our bill. I had high expectations for this restaurant after visiting the first time but I don't think we will be returning. Previous Review: This place was absolutely wonderful, so many helpful staff members. Food was amazing and there was even a gentleman singing, Playing the piano and guitar in the dining room. Highly recommended, I will be returning

Great good & amazing services in a warm cozy and elaborate ambience. Everything was delicious, from bread (very good olive oil) to grilled mushroom appetizers to the main dishes. The pasta was a bit soft for my liking (you can request for it to be cooked more al dente) but the seafood was fresh and the sauce was amazing. Great tiramisu (could use more liquor and coffee). Price was right for the portion. Will definitely come back.

TLDR: most amazing restaurant to host your private outdoor patio dinner. Wedding celebration/private patio dinner: My husband and I did a small intimate belated-wedding/marriage celebration dinner with our immediate families and few close friends. We really wanted to host something outdoors to be covid-friendly. Peter and the team were spectacular. They were extremely accommodating in the planning process and provided amazing service and execution of the dinner during the night. We were able to use the patio entirely. The fountain, greenery, and the string lights were so beautiful. We were able to Bluetooth speaker some chill music. The wine was amazing. The food was delicious. I'm so happy with how the night went. I highly recommend anyone to host their private parties here! Thank you Carmelina♥️

Amazing food and excellent service. We took our kids here on March break to show them what fine dinning is all about. Definitely be back the next time we are in town.

Beautiful and fun atmosphere! Perfect spot for Date night. They halal halal food. Just make sure the dish doesn't have wine.

What a fantastic place! Was there for Mother's Day, and the service by Tina and Louis was friendly and super attentive. Every course of food in our meal was delicious. With I could've tasted everything on the menu. And the live music by the singer on piano and guitar was excellent to experience. 10/10 would recommend.

The Risotto Fungi contained Arborio rice simmered with mixed mushrooms, onions, garlic, porcini broth served with grana danano Parmigiano and parsley truffle oil. It smelled delicious and the portion was actually much bigger than what the picture shows. I really liked the mushrooms as they were soft and juicy. The risotto was really good too and the cheese just made it even better.

Been here several times and am never disappointed. Chefs plate appetizer reminds me of Saturday lunch growing up; rack of lamb is perfectly cooked; in-house made tiramisu for dessert. Great for date night or business meeting. I'll be back again soon!

Snotty, Condescending. Went to Carmelina's today after a tough doctor visit just looking for a simple plate of pasta. The greeter walked past a number of empty tables to the very back of the restaurant to a table for two just outside the kitchen door, yes back by the washrooms. My wife refused and we were then told to sit where we wished. The greeter disappeared with our menus. The next waiter, someone with rings on his thumbs, proceeded to smugly chuckle when I ordered two ceasar's, I thought 'are these the cheapest thing there?' Is that why he is so condescening? It got worse. Pasta was okay, but why go back? Isn't $60 enough to drop for lunch to get friendly service? Evidently not.

Finger-licking yummy Pasta on my plate. I love eating pasta with cheese & sip of my favorite red wine. Carmelina Restaurant is my favorite food place in Richmond Hill which I never miss out during weekends.

There was live music in the restaurant. The performer played the piano and sang - which was really nice. We ordered calamari, bruschetta (comes in big portions) and two pastas. All really good. Service was great. Recommend :)

I can barely find the words to describe it.... I was absolutely astounded by how wonderful my experience at Carmelina was... We phoned half an hour earlier for a reservation but my mom forgot to leave our name. It didn't matter after all since they had plenty of tables open and our server remembered us from our call. The decor of the restaurant is absolutely breath taking with a Greco-roman influence complete with realistic looking friezes and columns. When we ordered our drinks I asked if they had anything similar to a virgin strawberry daiquiri. Our waitress said they didn't but that she could make me something else with fruit juices and sprite. The drink tasted as good as it looked and I was very pleased. My parents also fell in love with their house wine (Merlot). Our waitress also brought us fantastic flat bread that tasted like it had just come out of the oven and it was both cripsy and soft. I'm usually a pasta queen when it comes to food but that night I felt like something different and I tried the Torre di Pisa, a variety of grilled vegetables in melted bononcini stacked in a tower with a feta cheese stuffed mushroom at the bottom served with a side of penne in the most gorgeous tomato sauce I have ever tasted. I should also mentioned that we were a little confused by the menu at first since they only serve the express menu on weekdays, which is entirely different from the main menu, and it was Saturday night. My dad wanted pizza, which is only available on the express menu, but they made it for him anyway. When he thanked the waitress for allowing his special request she beamed and said "Special requests for special people." I should also mention that they have a gentleman come in on Saturdays to play the piano and later play the guitar and sing while floating from table to table. He was phenomenal and it felt so romantic. Lastly, though I really wanted to try the chocolate mousse cake I didn't think I would have the room so I had the tartufo. They bring it to you in a tall parfait glass topped with real whipped cream. It was also a treat since they had warned us that the kitchen closed at 9:30 pm but they brought us the dessert menu anyway even though it was just after 9:30. What else can I say? Great service, fabulous decor, and the most exquisite food. Carmelina is easily one of my favourite restaurants of all time.

Great food and service. I heard about the spot, and I stopped in Carmelina to dive in some exotic Italian lunch after a morning excursion. It was an awesome eatery place opened up to a pretty nice sized fine dining area. I ordered my favorite sea-food along-with popular Restaurant dessert dish and found them both interesting. It was totally worth the price to experience this spot.

Trevor

Dont bother with reservations, especially on important days ie. valentines day. We had a reservation, as did at least 20 other people standing with us, but noone seemed to care. There was not even a host to greet you and ask you if you had a reservation. I think the host gave up and went into hiding. Very dissappointing. No respect. The restaurant clearly doesnt care about the clientele, and clearly (being greedy) tried to seat walk ins, which are a sure thing, rather than wait for anyone with a reservation which may or may not show up. Brutal. On a good note it does look nice.

Italian Fine Dining. I would recommend Carmelina's as one of the best Italian restaurants in the city. For the past 10 years, I have been amazed by the impeccable quality of their food and uncomparable service. Their range of menu options have catered to my health consious attitude, yet provide great meat options for my partner. Their knowledgable staff have always ensured an unmatched pleasant experience. Thank you Carmelinas!

Good food but Bad service. I picked this restaurant due to the high rating of this restaurant to celebrate my birthday. And I was embarrassed. They rushed us through everything because the kitchen closes at 9 pm on a weekday!!! When you have a party of 8 or more (which there are a few that night) it's hard to gather everyone on time. Few friends that got off work later to arrive only got 1 minute to decide what to order. Unimpressed. They did not begin serving us water the entire time we sat there waiting for our food until we decided to order some wine. They said they would give us complimentary dessert for birthday but it didn't happen at all because they were rushing and had to close the kitchen and other stuffs! Shortly after eating birthday cake that we bought in ourselves and our desserts from the set menus, we were rushed again to pay because they need to close the Cashier... What the..I didn't even get to digest my food and chat up with my friends for my birthday. As for the food, it was decent. I would recommend the pastas and not the set menus they have. Because their "soup of the day" is apparently from the Can. The salad is just Spinach tossed in the plate. The Veal tastes like Pork and really rough pork.

If you plan to visit this place someday, I'd say only order the pastas or risotto... and during a weekend so you actually get to enjoy your food and chat with your friends.

No air conditioning but good food.. It was 95 degrees outside today and this place had their doors open and air cond off. We were all sweating it out and I wasn't surprised there were just a few people there. Next door there's a japan sushi place and the Fish House - both nice and cool. Food was good though. We had calamari, Caesar salad, veal marsalla, penne at our table and enjoyed it all but couldn't take the heat anymore and didn't stay for dessert. Dinner for 4 was $225

Situated in a business area North of Toronto, Carmelina offers a mix of Italian and Mediterrean dishes. It may not look really nice outside but the inside will surprise you
