Review Novita Italian Cuisine - Markham

Canadian with Italian taste. Good services once tuned in. Mussels tasted fresh with good sauce. My 12oz beef strip loin was below expectation. Otherwise we boxed them home as we didn’t want to waste.

Decided to try this place as I always see on driving past highway 7 and always wondered how this place is. Came here yesteday on a Tuesday night, it was pretty dead, there was only 3 tables seats in the entire restaurant. We were seated promptly and given our menus and our server came back pretty quick to introduce himself and tell us our specials. We ordered the calamari to start, rack of lamb and the chicken spaghetti. The calamari was disappointing as it there wasn't much taste and the "house aioli sauce" didn't really have much taste. The rack of lamb was delicious and the sauce was good and made medium rare as I would like it. As far as the pasta, it was good as well but didn't stand out. We saw a table who came after us get complimentary bread before ordering and meanwhile my and my boyfriend just sat there until our appetizer came. We decided to ask our server if we were getting any complimentary bread to start as well and was told that someone else was suppose to bring it to us. Overall, food was ok and service was good.

Yummy foods, friendly staffs and good service. My anti-creamy food husband was satisfied with menus we ordered and i agreed. Pizza was good, calamari seems fried with clean oil. One of tasty Italian restaurant in GTA.

Amazing food, Excellent service. Absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered. Special shout out to Tiramisu, it was the best Tiramisu I have ever eaten. It just melted in our mouth and the texture was so smooth. If you ever go to Novita don't forget to try the Tiramisu.

The food was good (try the Seafood platter) but the service was slow and waitress were friendly but not attentive. You would expect complimentary dinner rolls for the table but none; not really authentic Italian resto that I am used to.

We came here for our office Christmas Holiday lunch. Great service. Steak was perfectly done (ordered medium-rare). Great varieties of appetizers.

We ate a few times from here but today I was very disappointed about my dish because the "Linguine AL Pesce" is supposed to contain a mix of shrimp, mussels, clams and calamari but they forgot about the clams or they didn't have them anymore. Anyway they should let the client know, maybe you want with out an ingredient or maybe you will change your choice, but no, didn't happened. Another thing, when I asked a pineapple juice for me and my kid the waiter brought half full glasses (everything I wrote here you can check in the pictures I posted). I'm sorry but this is not pleasant, anyway they have a very very good pizza and cheese cake to try but can't give 5 stars if doesn't worth

The pasta was pretty good but the bread appetizer was cold and a bit stale. The server was very nice and the atmosphere was pretty good.

Very well priced, food was absolutely fantastic. Our server Liz was delightful! Will definitely be back. My only recommendation as a fellow Italian is that I would have really enjoyed some classic music!

Love this restaurant. Family outing and arrived at 4.00...not busy. Waitress very friendly. Had antipasto board with grilled and fried calamare. Delish....like the fried crispy basil. Food is amazing and there was a variety of dishes among us. Wine and desserts a hit. Very fresh ingredients. Price not over the top either. Will try this place with some friends. Highly recommend.

Try the pizza. I just finished my last bite a few minutes ago and it was one of the most delicious I have had in quite some time. I'll be back in Markham in September and I will visit again!

Great food...and service...definitely recommend if you are in Markkhham

All the food was pretty loaded with seafood and meat. Although the pasta didn't have enough pasta in it. Service was bad. Dude sounded like he hated his job and wasn't very friendly as it was our first time there with 2 others.

I was in the area on business for a few days and liked this place so much I ate there twice. As an Italian from New Jersey i'm very picky when it comes to Italian Restaurants and I can tell you this place would Impress my Grandmother. Absolutely delicious. A Salute!

Out of my expectation, seafood is cooked very well; Fresh and juicy. Best tiramisu I ever have. They should serve the appetizer first then the entree though we are sharing everything.

What a great find. We were struggling to figure out where to take some visiting colleagues from work...who both love Italian food. We decided on Novita. Wow..super impressed with food quality, service from Marina and reasonable prices. DEFINITELY coming back and have told others to be sure to try this spot for lunch or dinner.

My husband found this restaurant as he works nearby and he has a sever gluten allergy. He has been to the restaurant numerous times and loves it and they have never disappointed. We have also been there with friends and they loved it. The grilled calamari are fantastic as are other selections on the menu. Great job Roger and the team and see you soon!

My family and I were there for my son's 9th birthday. Everything was fabulous!

We came as a family over the holidays and loved every dish we ordered. The Mixed Grill Seafood was an absolute favourite at the table. It includes Calamari, shrimps, mussels, scallops, and smoked salmon, drizzled with lemon olive oil.
The Penne AI Salmone Affumicato was phenomenal! It has Norwegian salmon and asparagus tossed in vodka rose sauce served with a side of arugula salad. I also tried some of the Linguine AI Formaggio Di Capra and loved it.
Overall, excellent food and service! The portions are huge especially for the price we paid. We had a great time and will be coming back for another round!

The Grilled Vegetable appetizer platter had an assortment of portobello, zucchini, red pepper, eggplant, artichoke, and asparagus, with a spread of goat cheese. It was really nicely assembled and looked like colourful artwork. I really enjoyed this appetizer since it was refreshing, healthy, and tasty. I especially liked the goat cheese with the zucchini, red pepper, and artichoke.

We came as a largish group for a birthday dinner on a sunny Saturday evening.

Walking to our table you could see how huge the place was. This used to be fire and ice. I don't remember it being so large a space. The owners did a great job at decorating. It's modern enough to appeal to those who enjoy trendy places but still has an old school wood feel at the same time.

I had a cappuccino, osso bucco, mussels, and tiramisu. Osso bucco is very tender, mussels fresh, tiramisu is homemade. Good location for a quick lunch. Will try pizza next time.

RM

A date night with my sissy at the new Italian restaurant down the street sounded like the perfect Wednesday night after a long day of work. Novita recently opened up at Woodbine and Highway 7. I've never realized how big this space is until we were walking to our table. The interior is so pretty! I loved the open kitchen as well. There are two big areas for seating, and also a patio area.

They have a two paged menu with a lot of different options, including the appetizers, pastas, pizza, full protein meals (veal, chicken, steak, etc.). We both decided to get pasta though. I was having another one of my pasta craving days :)

We started off with some bread, which was okay (mainly maybe because I expected that the bread would be warm).

Our fried calamari came out first, with some spinach chips and aioli on the side. It was soo good!! We were super hungry so we devoured it immediately. The spinach chips were a great addition!

I ordered the Salmone Affumicato Penne, which is Norwegian salmon, vodka fresh chives in rose sauce. I opted for angel hair pasta instead of the penne though. It was good! The presentation was sloppy and there was sauce all over the bowl. I had to wipe it down to take a picture lol. There was a good amount of salmon and there was a good amount of sauce.

My sissy ordered the Pollo Linguine Alfredo, which is tender chicken cooked in a traditional Alfredo sauce finished with parmigiano cheese. I actually liked this sauce a lot. It was super rich but not too creamy. However, the chicken was really hard and dry, which my sister wasn't a fan of.

Overall, I had a good time here. It wasn't busy so the restaurant was rather quiet. Our server was really attentive in the beginning but slacked off after we got our mains. The food was good but I wouldn't say it's the best in the area. With that said, I still really enjoyed my night here and would recommend you to try it out if you are in the area.

Novita Italian Cuisine is a welcome replacement for Fire & Ice which had been around for years.

The interior is nicely redecorated to be a lot welcoming and brighter. The booth seating though can be a little tight (Maybe I put on some weight over the winter?).

The menu has a lot of classic Italian dish. All look really promising and ended up we ordered the following to share:

Zuppa De Pesce ($9.95) Mixed seafood and fish in a tomato herb broth

Vitello Marsala ($21.95) Tender Veal with wild mushrooms, dry Marsala wine and natural jus

Baby Spinach Salad ($10.95) Oven roasted tomato with goat cheese & tomato vinaigrette

Portion is huge and great for sharing with a group. Aside from that, I found it just lack in quality. It was a little painful to see how my veal was drowned in sauce. Most of the food did reminded me of "American" Italian food and that might be some people preference like my dinner mate.

The service was really attentive and it was a nice touch when the Chef came out of the kitchen and talked to us and making sure sure everything is OK.

I would definitely give Novita another try as they do have a Happy Hour on weekday.
