Mary's Place

London is home to so many good restaurants but most diners tend to be territorial, or limit themselves to just a few favourites and only leave the door open a crack for trying something different like this place. It is family owned- a plus in my books- and located in a small plaza in East London. It is truly a veritable diamond in the rough. We arrived here just after the doors opened at 8 AM on a. Sunday and were the first customers of the day. We both had the standard breakfast of 2 eggs, toast, bacon, home fries and coffee. Everything was cooked or brewed perfectly and the coffee was outstanding. Taking the time to make home fries rather than cooking from frozen also raises the bar for me in review rating. Our server was as good as it gets. All in all a good experience. The only reason I did not rate this a five overall was that we haven't sampled their lunch menu yet. Breakfast rates a 5. Good service, good food, clean interior, comfortable seating and excellent prices. You gotta eat here!

BEST Little Diner in London! (Personal Response to Worst Food in London....). This review goes out in response to one I read a little while ago it I took it quite personally because I frequent this restaurant a lot because of their wonderful food made from scratch, their great service and their fun, quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

It was Kyle's review that made me so upset.. The review stated that he went into Miss Mary's Place for a "health food meal" but then he went onto say that he ordered a grilled cheese with fries. First of all just to clarify, I hope he knows there is basically zero "health food" in that meal right? Anyhow, then he said that when he got his meal it was full of grease... (actually he said "pool of grease" but let's be real.. he's over-exaggerating) well yes, of course it is.. you're eating buttered bread grilled and melted with GREASY cheese in the middle and deep-fried potatoes deep fried in what? Oh ya! GREASE! Therefore if he wanted a "health food meal" as he suggested he should have order something not deep fried and with a little bit more veg or protein in it..beside's Mary's fries are the best! I'm always told by their great servers that the fries will be just a minute because they're freshly cut and they have great seasoning too!

I would suggest to anyone to go to this great little place! And if you want a "health food meal" then you should try their euro sausage!! YUM! It's like this spicy Italian sausage with green pepper, onions and other veggies sautéed over top. There's no bun so it's less carbs and as your side get their homemade soup! Also amazing! The sons do a fantastic job making the soup! Or for breakfast instead of getting greasy breakfast meat and deep fried potatoes.....kyle... get the frittata! An open-faced omelet again with lots of sautéed veggies and instead of homefries (although you should really just get them..also homecut and delicious) just get some tomato slices instead.

Give it another try Kyle! It's great food a great place! Maybe I'll see you there! ;)
